Rating: Summary: FINALLY! THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR! Review: Finally I have found a beauty book that not only focuses on looks, but the soul and the beauty from within as well! The photos throughout the book are genious and they truly are beautiful images that scream "Be confident and know that you are beautiful inside and out". I am so happy that Kyan took the time out of his hectic schedule as a beauty expert and television star to write this incredible book!
Thanks Kyan for everything that you have shared with us and thank you again for guiding me in the direction to the journey of "Beautifying" my life!
Rating: Summary: Fantastic resource for women from mid-teens to seniors! Review: I first bought this book for myself and read the entire thing in two days. Then I went back and bought one for my daughter, two for my sisters, and one for Mom for Christmas. The best part about Beautified is that it covers ALL the bases and then some. I was especially glad to see that Kyan included a Spirit chapter and that, as a man, he recognizes that women need to be appealed to mind, body and spirit if they're to be appealed to at all. A few more men could stand to learn that lesson. In any case, I absolutely love the format, the photographs are gorgeous, and there are more tips than you can shake a stick at. The chapters are:
Introduction: Why Beautify (I fell in love with Kyan after reading this. It's very sweet. He dedicates the book to his mother, sister and grandmother!)
Chapter 1: A Good Hair Day Every Day
Chapter 2: Beauty Is Skin Deep
Chapter 3: Wake Up Your Make-Up
Chapter 4: Groomed and Gorgeous
Chapter 5: How Not To Diet
Chapter 6: Shape It Up (there are some excellent fitness tips here, and all doable---at least the ones I've tried so far)
Chapter 7: Your Spirit Workout (my FAVORITE chapter!)
Enjoy Beautified and if you're looking for that perfect holiday book for a girl or woman in your life, this one is it.
Rating: Summary: Stupified Review: Kyan Douglas has nothing to report that a good magazine doesn't do better and more interesting - and without the ridiculous pictures of the "author" on every other page. He under estimates women; we're not interested in looking at him in a book about womens appearance and his "advice", "kyanisms" and "Q & A"'s add nothing to anyone. -Don't buy!
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT BOOK Review: Nice layout, GREAT Wealth of information for us women on grooming, skin care, fragrance, exercise, dieting, and generally looking and feeling great. The pictures of Kyan are pretty nice to look at too. I am impressed and would recommend this book to all women, especially the fans of Queer Eye For the Straight Guy. I am glad I picked it up today as it is a GREAT reference for looking good. GREAT JOB KYAN - THANKS!
Rating: Summary: Excellent book for beauty beginners Review: This book was fun to read- it is full of tips on grooming for women. It would be excellent as a reference book for women whose makeup and hair need updating, but there is also a lot of great info and tips for beauty addicts like myself!
Rating: Summary: A waste of your money...get an Allure subscription instead Review: What an obvious milking of the Queer Eye name. Kyan offers nothing more than vague tips and general photos that look like they were purchsed from a stock photography website. General Kyanisms and pointers are listed in the book but there is nothing new here, in fact the tips are lame and dated. And there are are no photos to back them up - shouldn't there be illustrations in a makeup how-to? I'd really like to see how justifies the 'contouring' tips...contouring down the sides of the nose and between the breasts? OMG, please! For better tips and info, read Allure, InStyle or Self. Or better still, get a Kevyn Aucoin book.
