Rating: Summary: It DOES tell you which food/drinks to avoid! Review: A complete understanding of heartburn and acid reflux is presented in Tell Me What To Eat If I Have Acid Reflux, from what foods tend to influence the progression of acid reflux to lifestyle changes which can make a difference. While there are also dozens of recipes, the meat of Tell Me What To Eat If I Have Acid Reflux lies in its advice on how to handle heartburn symptoms and how to prevent them.
Rating: Summary: A thoroughly enjoyable read! Review: Believe it or not I actually enjoyed reading this book on acid reflux. My husband has had this for a couple of years now and I loved the way this book put it all together for us. It told me exactly what I needed to know, in terms we could easily understand, in the order I needed to read them in. The 10 Food Steps To Freedom lay out the diet recommendations in a very simple way. Then there are several supporting chapters on holiday eating, eating out in restaurants, and recipes you can't live without, that help you more easily follow the food steps. My husband is already feeling better and we've only been practicing the food steps for a couple of weeks! Lots of good information, and I enjoyed reading it.
Rating: Summary: I am feeling much better now! Review: I am so glad I didn't read Stephanie's review before I bought this book because frankly I would not have bought it! This book gave me plenty of insight and helpful recipes to help me deal with acid reflux--and the recipes are great--and I am not a chef by any means! Magee--keep up the good work! Everyone with AR should read this!

Rating: Summary: Less than one star Review: I bought this book based on the 5-star reviews here.
Save your money. There is nothing in this book that you cannot get for free by googling 'acid reflux' or 'GERD'.
Which is what I did after being disappointed by this book.
I went to a health food and supplement store, talked to the
nutritionist there and came away with an amazing array of things that helped me within 48 hours. This is after 3 weeks of unstoppable pain. Boiron's Acidil, Prevaid's Enzymes and the best - Enzymatic Therapy's 20-day capsules. Good luck.
Rating: Summary: It DOES tell you which food/drinks to avoid! Review: I cannot believe a previous reviewer mentions that this book doesn't tell you what to avoid for acid reflux. There is an entire chapter dedicated to the subject not to mention a couple of chapters that are all about answering common Q & A on acid reflux in general and diet and acid reflux. Plus chapters on eating out and getting through the holidays. My gastroenterologist gave me a copy of this book and told me that it was the best and easiest read on the subject and he was right!
Rating: Summary: Succinct Review: I found the book well organized, and information rich. I didn't have time to search around the internet myself, but this book brought it all together nicely for me. I was able to read it in one evening, but I know I will be going back to it over and over again as a reference. This book (in a reader-friendly way) answered my questions about the disease itself, drug and surgery treatment as well as giving an in depth look at how diet and lifestyle play a role. Good job!
Rating: Summary: Thank you Elaine Magee! Review: If you have acid reflux, you have to get this book. Elaine's provides so much practical information in the most user friendly style. She answered all my medical questions regarding the wide array of drug options, their potential benefits and side effects and risks of long term use. But my favorite chapter was her "10 Food Steps to Freedom", a realistic guide to diet modification that I have followed and that is working for me already. She does not promote radical changes, these are simple guidelines that anyone who really wants to reduce their heartburn can work into their lives. I tried her recipe for No-Tomato Lasagna and it was delicious!! I can't wait to try more. Overall, a great book.
Rating: Summary: Acid reflux and what to eat. Review: If you or any of your friends/family members are suffering from Acid Reflux, this book will certainly help you a lot. The author has kept an entire chapter on this and the Q & A session is also highly informative. Elaine Magee has collected all information and put them together in one book. Simple changes in life style such as chewing gum after meals and raising the head of the bed will help you a lot. The recipes are also very useful.
I used to crave coffee in the morning but realized I didn't want that wired up feeling & acid stomach. I switched over to a caffeine-free coffee substitute made from soyabeans I found on the net at www.S o y c o f f e e.c om. It so easy for someone to tell you to eat less, but if you are craving bad foods, eventually you will fail. In the first five days I was on this diet all the craving ceased and I was already 8 lbs down. If you were like me and cannot wait for your next slice of cake and at the same time really want to change your lifestyle, Try this.
Rating: Summary: Everything You Need To Know About GERD Review: This is an outstanding book. Elaine Magee has succeeded in collecting a wealth of information into a single, readable paperback that is invaluable to those struggling with, or having family members struggling with, acid reflux and related problems. Having asthma? Maybe not - asthma might be merely a symptom of the underlying problem that comes from GERD, and treating the asthma symptoms instead of the problem may actually make the underlying GERD worse. Read on and see. Many medical professionals are unfamiliar with the current research and extensive information about reflux that is contained in this book, and the information here is essential in learning to navigate your way into effective medical help for GERD problems, advocating for proper treatment, and discerning when you've found a doctor that has the background and knowledge to help.
