Summary: Some Insight on Relationship Development
Review: "It's not the goal, it's the trip that's life: Life is the trip; life is the process; life is getting there," writes Leo Buscaglia. His intent in this book is to enhance the journey. The insights he offers are pretty well thought out. Among the things he discussses is our limited perception, noting, "we see only a small part of the things in our environment."

What a strong case he makes for reading! I was convinced before hearing him out on the matter. He reinforced my bias. Reading DOES expand you as a person. Growth means you constantly change and he spends time developing that theme. Buscaglia says we have an obligation to become all we can be, that we can't give what we don't possess, therefore in order to give ourselves, we need to cultivate what we have to offer.

Risk is part of living. He warns, "the person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, and becomes nothing." And on the significance of everything, he observes, "It's teeny little things that make the difference. Small things, side, by side, by side." He encourages you to seek other people who are fully alive to connect and help optimize your experiences. The only reason I didn't give this book a full five stars is because he is a Buddist. His savior is dead; mine's alive. A certain amount of error exists in the teachings of anyone unable to follow the logic of Truth.

Summary: Wonderful book!
Review: A friend loaned me this book in the mid to late eighties. I was stunned with Buscaglia's honesty. He stated my fears and observations of life and allowed me to rise above myself and live a life in love. I still have the copy my friend gave me, which fell apart long along, and purchased copies to keep around for reference. To this day, this book still outlines the way I believe life should be led and I can't think how miserable and confusing my life would have been had I not received this book. I owe my clarity and enjoyment of life to the fact I have read this book. This is the book I would take to my desert island.

Thank you Leo.

Summary: Leo Buscaglia Continually Delivers Insight Into Love
Review: I just discovered Leo Buscaglia and it has been like
looking in the mirror and seeing someone just like
me looking back - I don't mean physically, I mean
in his heart and sould and my heart and soul.

I come to this review with that energy - a whole
hearted belief in the wisdom of Buscaglia's words,
vision. It is my wholehearted desire that these
messages and similar messages continue to grow.

This book is a compilation of transcripts of many
talks given by Dr. Buscaglia. In reading the words,
you will feel as if he is addressing you personally.

You will laugh (and cry) at his stories, be challenged
by his insights and be inspired by his presence
on the written page.

One of my favorite chapters is "Teach Life" - where
in his true form, he shares about his love for
Valentine's Day, his most informative role models
and how the truth of a sacred Sufi story still
rings true in today's world.

The chapter "Bridges, Not Barriers" is also excellent
and rang so familiar, it was as if Buscaglia was
walking around in my brain... and since he is no
longer on the physical plane... well, you just never
know! *wink*

One of quotes from the book is found on page 73:

"Knowledge is not wisdom! Learning alone is not
wisdom. Wisdom is the application of knowledge and
facts. Wisdom is realizing you know nothing. Wisdom
is saying, "My mind is open. Wherever I am, I am just
beginning. There is more to be realized by a hundred
fold than what I know". That is the
beginning of wisdom.

This is a book you will be glad you own. You can
literally open to any page and find a gold nugget.

Buscaglia simply delivers love over and over
and over again.

Summary: It saved my life.
Review: I was 17, depressed, and alone waiting for a song to come on MTV so that I could get enough guts to slit my wrists. When the song didn't come on the t.v. after hours of waiting, I went up to my room and tore everything apart. Posters came off the walls, blankets were ripped off the beds, curtains were pulled off their rods. My room was a complete disaster. After my intense cry, I looked up and the ONLY thing left on a bookshelf was this book. Out of pure curiosity I picked it up and read a few pages. At first I thought the book was a joke but yet I didn't put it down. I tried doing a few of the exercises in the book - what did I have to lose - I was going to off myself anyways. The next morning I looked in the mirror and said outloud that I love myself. I laughed and it was the first time I had laughed in months.

This is a true account of how this book 'saved my life'. What if the book had fallen like everything else in my fit of frustration? What if that book wasn't in my room at all that day? Who knows. What I do know is that working through the exercises in the book and following the author's advice, I was able to come out of my adolescent depression and evolve into a happy, well-adjusted adult and I will be forever grateful to Mr. Buscaglia.

Summary: WOW!!! I've read it over and over WOW!!!
Review: The fist time I read this book was abount ten years ago. The last time I read it was just about a month ago. This book reaches my inner-most depths, no matter where in life I may be. Many if not most people in my life (including me) need to be reminded that, as Buscaglia says "You are a special combination. Don't ever believe that you have nothing to contribute. The world is an incredible unfulfilled tapestry, and only you can fill that space." He also reminds us that "Yesterday is a cancelled check, and tomorrow is just a promissory note. Only today is cash on hand".

Summary: Fantasy and dangerous
Review: This book is a fantasy and dangerous. Most of the items on this book and all of Buscaglia books are fantasy. Yes, Leo kind of acknowledge that it is wishful thinking what he is talking about but that statement is meant for you to let down your guard. And if what he said is able to pass into your subconscious mind, it can be very dangerous. As his book has many trojan virus that if pass into your subconscious mind can wreck havoc. Just as a computer virus can wreck havoc to your computer system, so can Buscaglia mental virus within his book. I will give you an example of a virus in his book. One of the book point was "Learn to trust again" and "Love trust". If that one point was able to by pass your conscious mind defense and into your subconscious mind, it can wreck havoc to your human computer (Mind). And there are many more virus within his book. Be wary of Buscaglia book readers.

Summary: A true life changing book
Review: This is the first Leo Buscalglia book I have read. I remember seeing him speak on T.V. back in my youth and was struck by his total exuberance and committment to what he was saying. Now, as an adult, a closer look at this book reveals that he is very good at emphasizing what seem to me to be essentials of being human, like the fact that we are each unique and we have the responsibility to become all that we can be, for our own sake and that of the world, or the need to be willing to take risks to live fully, to name a couple. Now, these aren't new ideas but it is refreshing to have someone so wholeheartedly focus on a few important essentials, to remind us of them again in our own lives and call us to live vital lives. The book flowed along, sometimes repeating ideas or stories (as it was compiled of a bunch of talks that he had given). It was a great imbibing of one human's expression of his belief in our innate beauty and wonder as humans and our ability to live as such. Inspirational.
