Rating: Summary: We are made of mostly water! Review: Dr. Batman.'s advice is very helpful. I read his first book many years ago and found this book to be a well done revision with much new information. I tell my readers about this book as I think it spells out very clearly the health benefits that can be realized from drinking water, not just for weight loss but for all areas of health improvement. To NOT drink the amount of water that Dr. Batman recommends is just plain stupidity! I don't agree with 80% veggies/fruits and 20% proteins.....what about whole grains? But I agree with more fruits and veggies than anything else! Get this book and follow it! Your body will thank you! Rating: Summary: BEST BOOK !!!! Review: Everyone should own a copy of this book!! If everyone drank the water they should, we wouldn't be feeding as much $$ to the pharmacuetical companies... water is free and our bodies need it for everything!! Very enlightening information... do not hesitate to get this book!! I paid full cover price at Barnes and Nobles (knowing I could get it here cheaper) because I couldn't stop reading it and its worth every penny!! I can feel a big difference and I'm telling everyone about it! It's not fair keeping this kind of knowledge a secret!! And what's more-- every doctor should have a copy in his/her practice and in turn, educate their patients... but since that won't happen, we have to help eachother and educate ourselves... hope this helps.
Rating: Summary: Reformed water hater says somebody you know needs this book! Review: Finally, the what, how, why, & when of our need for water, has been explained so that even I get that it meant *me too* all along.
This is a wonderful book that sufficiently explains the right combination of water and sea salt for me, so that it is making a substantial difference in my weight and my energy level. Not to mention various aches and pains.
I believe that with this book, Dr. Batmanghelidj delivers one of the most important building blocks you need to create your own solid foundation of health. Many thanks to Dr. Batman - and cheers (with a large tumbler of water)!
Rating: Summary: A MUST READ! Review: I am ordering several of copies of this book. This is the best gift anyone can give to someone they care about and hopefully they will pass on the wisdom shared to others. I am a medical transcriptionist, grandmother and avid reader of nonfiction and self-help books. This is the best - I mean THE BEST I have been blessed with finding. It saddens me that our medical profession isn't passing on this truth regarding water. Standard advice seems to be "push fluids" which is deception to us all. PUSH WATER is what needs to be instructed. The only reason I can think of that this advice is not shared loudly is the fact that WATER doesn't have to cost a lot of money. It seems there are a lot of cures for a lot of ailments that don't have to cost a fortune but if low cost (no cost), common sense treatments are shared look at the loss of money to the medical profession. I say shout it from the rooftops! DRINK WATER..DRINK WATER and don't think ANY FLUID is a substitute! Within a week - the difference is felt.
Rating: Summary: Amazing! Water for acne relief! Review: I was recently on a very hectic business trip for a week. During that time I only drank maybe one small glass of water each day, usually just before bedtime. By the end of that week, I had broken out in a really nasty batch of acne. I've been battling adult acne for years. Recently I've been trying to control it with diet. But, still, it wasn't completely under control. When I got back from my trip, the copy of Dr. B's book I ordered had arrived. I always knew water was good for the skin (as well as the entire body) but I wasn't drinking nearly enough of it. I immediately put the "water cure" into practice. By the end of the second week my skin was almost completely clear. I had even lapsed a bit in my dormal diet of mostly fruits and vegetables and had some cheese pizza and soft drinks, which I always thought contributed to my acne. It turns out all I really needed to do was drink more water! And now I'm feeling relief from lower back pain as well! Buy this book!
Rating: Summary: Simple, stupid. Simple, brilliant Review: It makes total sense: keep a constant level of hydration in a machine made of 75 percent water, and the machine runs optimally, eradicating toxins, digesting nutrients, providing energy. But it certainly won't make any money for big-Pharm, Dr. Pill and the food-lite industry, and that's what we're all here for these days isn't it?
Rating: Summary: "Water".........Right idea; poor presentation Review: The author is 'right on' in emphasizing the importance of water in our life. I agree with the 'conclusion' of his arguments, particularly the importance of 'prevention' as compared to the 'cure'. I agree also with his views on the importance of salt and minerals in our diet. In fact, his summary at the end of the book is good. So why do I have a problem with the book? Virtually all of his 'theories' presented, essentially as a 'cure', or at least a help in the prevention of a disease, are unsubstantiated, exaggerated, and largely unbelievable. He would have us believe that hydration of the body will prevent or inhibit virtually all diseases afflicting mankind. There is almost no mention of support for his hypotheses by reputable people in the medical professions; no peer reviews. Peer reviews are the essential part of understanding and revising medical practice ( or any scientific theory for that matter.) We are to believe there exists some sort of alliance of doctors and the drug industry to prevent the public from learning that if we are 'hydrated' most of the drugs on the market today would be unnecessary ( unacceptable to those industries that thrive on the fat profits).
Perhaps I'm over stating my problem with the book, but I believe the way it is presented is much too self serving and runs the risk of being counter productive; a very harmful result for such an important subject.
Rating: Summary: A New View on the Importance of Water Review: The book was very informative. Its controversial ideas are worthy of further study. The author made valid points pertaining to people even medical professional's misconceptions of the importance of water to the human body. The author was thorough in presenting his ideas and supporting them with the knowledge of the body's physiological processes. But along with the addition of sufficient water, small changes in our diet can also help a lot. Like I have started drinking a product I found on the net at www.s o yc o f f e e .c o m. It's a natural caffeine free substitute for regular coffee made from soya beans. Well, if even half of the concepts presented in the book have a glimmer of truth then medical science is over due for a much needed change or at least a revision.
