Summary: This Book Has Givem Me My Life and Health Back!
Review: "The Game of Life" -and how to play it- has to be the greatest book on positive thinking ever written! This little book was introduced to me by a friend and my life has changed since the first day I opened it. I suffered from various illness such as Hypertension and Respitory problems. When I read this book it taught me to let go of the anger and hatred in my life. By doing so, I also let go of the illness in my body & the clutter in my mind. This book set me free from the burdens of a hard pain-filled life.I learned a lot about God and man as being one in the spirit. This brought me so close to God that I could feel His spirit with me when I prayed. "The Game of Life..." taught me how to use the power of words to heal my body, mind, and spirit. For that, I will be forever grateful to Florence Scovel Shinn. If you are faced with mounting problems and your whole world seems to be tumbling down around you, you need to read this book! If you feel as though you cannot go on and like you have no one, you need to read this book! If you feel unloved or that God does not love you, you need to read this book! GET IT TODAY!!!

Summary: To Win Any Game, You Must Know The Rules....
Review: ...This book so simply yet eloquently explains those rules. I have been fortunate enough to study at several of the most exclusive universities in the world; however, I was NEVER taught any of these timeless, priceless truths until I went on a journey of REAL education--that is knowledge of self.
I will echo the other readers by saying that this timeless classic can be life-changing. This book was first written in 1925 and is in its 42nd printing--that should speak for itself.
"Most people consider life a battle, but it is not a battle, it is a game....it cannot be played successfully without knowledge of [certain] laws" (pg 1).
I believe with my heart and soul that any goal a person has in life can be attained through the persevering use of the laws described in this book.
If I had the choice of reading only 3-4 books on universal truths, I would select this book along with:
1) Joseph Murphy's "Power of Your Subconscious Mind"
2) Claude Bristol's "The Magic of Believing"
3) Shakti Gawain's "Creative Visualization"
After reading this book, I would also invest in the newly written book by John Assaraf "The Street Kid's Guide to Having it All" which provides a workbook-like, practical framework for first identifying all of the goals and heartfelt desires in life one has and then using the right strategies for achieving them (i.e. living life in harmony with the laws described in Schinn's book and reiterated in the other books enumerated above).
Buy this book and then share what you have learned with a friend! You will be so happy you did; and you shall most assuredly be prospered as well too.

Summary: Practitioner's tales
Review: Florence Scovel Shinn provides an object lesson in the power of personal reinvention. She took the personal defeat of a failed marriage in middle age, and transmuted it into the triumph of becoming a respected New Thought practitioner. Ms. Shinn's books are gathered here in one umbrella, in a good presentation with useful biographical material.
The books themselves contain all the virtues and troubling aspects of new thought prosperity writings. Ms. Shinn has a plain, anecdotal style which points out to her readers the benefits of a positive attitude and a belief that such an approach can change not only oneself, but reality itself. At the same time, the anecdotes she tells have a willingness to move into "I needed one hundred dollars, and it appeared through the power of my thoughts" aspect to them. The implied suggestion of thought as a mere get-rich-quick scheme, though undoubtedly not what the author intends to convey, nonetheless comes out as the "come on" for the work.
I found Ms. Shinn's books quite interesting reading, because she clearly approaches things from a practical, hands-on "practitioner's" view. She's clearly conversant with New Thought theory, but her goal is not to impart theory. Her goal is to explain in intelligent but simple terms the way she believes life to work. Despite its flaws, I found this a good set of reads, and an educational bridge into how New Thought worked in an era which is the transitional time between its founders and today. This is an important bit of documentation, and the publisher is to be commended for bringing it out.

Review: I am a Christian and well versed in the Bible, this book has helped me understand my Bible better and see the Word of God in an awesome light. I look forward to everyday with an expectation knowing that God is routing for me. I recommend this book for all believers in Jesus Christ.

Review: I first read the Game of life and how to play it over 30 yrs ago. The price of the book was $... Florence has never let me down. The pages of my book are worn down and brittle. But so many changes in a person life are reflected there. My book is like my family Bible and will be with me till the end.

Summary: The Writings of Florence Scovel Shinn
Review: I was introduced to this marvelous piece of literature in 1999 and since that time in a multi-level effect, I have introduced it to over three hundred people. It is the most profound spirtual/inspirational book I have ever read, other than the Bible. In fact, it helped me to understand and appreciate the Scriptures more fully. As the late Dr. Norman Vincent Peale wrote,..."that he had long used her teachings and found them to work" is an understatement. Whenever I give this book as a gift, I inscribe it with the following text..."for edification and application." When the principles of God's word are applied to the letter, the manifestation is instantaneous. I am so glad that I've learned the "secret" (via Florence Scovel Shinn)of how to (play) the "Game of Life," carefully (use) "Your Word is Your Wand," (watched) the "Power of the Spoken Word" and (implemented)"The Secret Door to Success." Life has never been better and my relationship with God is getting to be what it's supposed to be; faith and trust.

Review: The word "profound" may intimidate some into thinking that this book is full of complex theological concepts, but don't be fooled. The book is written in such a way that comprehension is automatic and I promise that if you apply the principles written in its pages--even if you're a little unsure at first--it WILL change your life in a dramatically positive way. Discover the blessings that are already yours. And buy TWO copies--you'll want to share it with everyone you know.

Summary: Invaluable for Life
Review: The Writings of Florence Scovel Shinn surpass most books I have read in the four decades I have been reading. Her books are so wonderful, that I STILL re-read them, because their flowing truth, and absolute clarity never let me down.
I began reading her work so long ago, and was captivated by her writings from the first line on.
To this day, her books are among my all time favorites. They will uplift you, help you grow, and help you create the life you truly want to live. HIGHLY recommended as the classics they are, and will continue to be. 1,000 stars!

Summary: LIFE ALTERING EXPERIENCE
Review: This outstanding work by Florence Scovel Shinn was the precursor to all the modern "self-help" inspriational writings. I know her teachings are accurate because they have worked for me and the hundreds of people to whom I have referred the "Writings/Wisdom of Florence Scovel Shinn" I was introduced to the book "The Game of Life..." quite by accident and subsequently went on to purchase the complete volume of her writings (which included her biography) the result of that experience has made a tremendous difference in my relationship with God and my whole spritual persona. It is a "must-read" for those who desire success in and from their lives.

Summary: Invaluable for Life
Review: This tremendous book was given to me by a great friend over thirty years ago. I'm not religious and felt uncomfortable at first with all the references to God so I substituted "The Power" instead, which works for me. However, the life lessons she so eloquently and yet simply tells are truly invaluable. When things start to go wrong either in my life or in my thinking I trot out The Game of Life and read it again to put myself on track. Although I used to give this book to friends I found that most of them didn't read it so now I tell them about the book and let them buy it for themselves if they're really interested. I've never seen reviews for a book that ALL give it five stars, but it deserves it. Mrs. Shinn still influences many with her wonderful insights.
