Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Witty, practical, fun, great flavours, user-friendly, yummy!
Review: This is a terrific book for people who love big flavours in their food. It's a great idea source for those who love to try new flavours and are willing to be mildly adventuresome. The author gives lots of sidebars - interesting pieces of information about the dish, flavour, food, herbs, etc. - with many of the recipes, making it a pretty enjoyable read, too! She has a little different take on "low fat" - rather than substituting everything under the sun, she uses *little* amounts of fat, combined with clever cooking techniques to get the most out of the flavours she can. This strikes me as being a far more sensible approach - and it tastes better!! Examples of some of the food (just two quick ones..) are "Leek and Potato Soup" - total preparation time 5 minutes, cooking time 1/2 hour - nice and simple! Also "Salmon with Mango Sauce" - it's quick and fabulously delicious! This book belongs in *everyone's* kitchen - it is immensely usable and has just loads of great ideas. Very well worth the money.
