Rating: Summary: wow Review: For the single person or even a couple (just double everything), this is a great cookbook. It has weekly menues for lunch and dinner (5 weeks for summer and 5 for winter) complete with a shopping list in from of each week. This certianly makes meal planning a breeze if it is folowed!! All the reciepts are even in both metic and american measurements.
Rating: Summary: YOU WILL LOVE IT Review: GO ON TRY IT. WHEN I BOUGHT THIS BOOK I THOUGHT UMM JUST ANOTHER BORING VEGAN RECIPE BOOK ; BUT IT TURNED OUT TO BE A REAL PLEASURE TO READ. THE BOOK IS DEVIDED INTO WEEKS AND AT THE START OF EACH WEEK GIVES YOU THE INGREDIANTS TO BUY.THIS IS EASILLY ADAPTABLE FOR MORE THAN ONE PERSON.THE RECIPES ARE SIMPLE IN THE SENCE THAT THE INGREDIANTS ARE BASIC AND MAKES YOU REALISE THAT THE SIMPLE THINGS ARE OFTEN THE BEST. WE FOUND SOME DISHES NOT TO OUR LIKING BUT OTHERS WERE OUT OF THIS WORLD. SO TRY THEM WITH AN OPEN MIND. ENJOY
Rating: Summary: i think it's a good idea, but.... Review: i bought this used at a bookstore because i loved the idea of only cooking for myself and having shopping lists to go from each week, however, i have never cooked from this book because it simply turns me off. the menus don't seem varied enough, plus, i am the type of cook that likes to answer to my cravings and to recipies that make me feel passionate about cooking them. this book does not fit the bill.
Rating: Summary: This one is my favorite. Review: I really appreciate the author for creating this cookbook. I'm new at Vegan eating. I was pretty well done with meat, but recently visited an egg and milk farm. It was pretty sick. I wasn't real optomisitc about how to eliminate these--but still enjoy food. (I do enjoy eating, don't you?) So many vegetarian cookbooks I've seen have long ingredient lists, and things you've never heard of, so that after getting it cooked, I'm weary. These recipes are simple and delicious. I'm liking not just some of them, but the majority. Therefore I can go ahead and use her wonderful and conscise shopping list, and make it even that much simpler. She has it all spelled out like kindergarten.I love it, Thanks Leah.
Rating: Summary: Good cookbook for the single cook. Review: I really enjoy this cookbook and use it regularly. It is really the only vegan cookbook geared towards a single person. The recipe's are easy and tasty, though wih a British palate. Some conversions from english measurements to american measurements seem to be off. Overall i would highly recomend this cookbook and look forward to trying all of its recipes. So far my favorite is the smoked tofu a'la king (and this had to be one of the easiest of all to make!)
Rating: Summary: This book is so great, I had to write a review! Review: I've never come back and written a review on Amazon before, but this book is so good - I just had to! I received the book for Christmas and tried a few of the receipes and loved them. This is my first week of following the "meal plan". The author makes it so easy to do all your grocery shopping and to cook simple, delicious meals. I am doubling everything and cooking for two. So far we have well enough for both of us plus leftovers for one or two lunches. When non-vegans smirk and say "ew, what do you eat?!" I am now proud to rattle off a list of gourmet-sounding recipes that sound enticing to even meat eaters, but are simple to prepare. The book is small (but has a 10 full weeks of recipes) and inexpensive - why not give it a try?

Rating: Summary: i think it's a good idea, but.... Review: If this book has taught me anything its how to make smaller portions. I came from from a big family and we cooked big meals. However, being a single parent, I had to change my methods or else be subjected to a life long experience of too much leftovers. I'm not a vegetarian but the recipes are delicious. They are also quick and easy to prepare.
Rating: Summary: Quantities too big, but nice recipes Review: It seems that everytime I find a recipe I want to try in this book it calls for some whacked-out ingredient. The recipes look promising enough but ALOT Alot alot of them call for "Smoked Tofu" something I have never seen and hadn't even heard of before buying this book. They are intended specifically to have this smoky flavour too. And what is vegetable suet? Where do you buy that? Do you really want to eat suet? I don't. Anyway, the book is a very good idea, but I just don't use it.
Rating: Summary: yuck Review: This is one of my favorite cookbooks. The suggested shoping lists and planned menues were very helpful to get me started. Now I mix and match te recipes to create a perfect week's menu. The servings are usually enough for two, which the author mentions in her notes. This means that I always have a great lunch waiting for me the nex day. Now b/c I eat out or have dinner meetings, I only plan three menues from this book at a time. I highly recommend the "Irish Stew" to everyone. It's a HUGE hit with all types of eaters! Enjoy!
