Summary: This is the one you've been looking for!
Review: Hi, my name is Joanne. I'm 39 years old, married 20 years with three daughters that are 18, 15 and 9. I accepted the Lord as my Savior when I was 18 but it wasn't until 5 years ago when I found a wonderful church that I finally started to grow in my relationship with Jesus.

When I was younger I used to be the skinny twig in school that everyone was jealous of. After my third daughter it caught up to me and I started putting on the weight. Two months ago I was at my heaviest weight of 180 and miserably as all get out. I hated being that overweight. I would eat whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted, in whatever amount I wanted. And all the while I knew it was wrong but couldn't stop.

Then I somehow stumbled upon Setting Captives Free while surfing the internet. The funny thing is, I've tried to retrace my steps to how I found it and I just can't seem to do it! It was all God! Anyways, I was intrigued and signed up for the Lord's Table and my life was changed. On the first study my eyes were opened to the truth of my overeating and I knew I was on to something good. The first week I couldn't figure out where I'd find time to walk, but after praying about it God showed me where and I started walking 1 1/2 miles to 2 miles a day. Now I'm working out at a local gym with my two older daughters.

I've grown so much in my relationship with the Lord through this study. I've learned to turn to Him when I'm tempted to eat when I shouldn't and He's taught me to be disciplined and self-controlled. I couldn't have done it without my faith in Jesus. All the glory goes to the Lord for all the changes in me. I even want to look into doing a Lord's Table study at my church at one point.

Beginning weight: 180
Current weight: 165 and still losing!

Summary: Best Teaching I've Ever Had
Review: I can honestly say that this book contains the best teaching I've ever had on the subject of weight loss from a Biblical perspective. I read the book nearly a year ago now, and it brought me so much closer to God, and this relationship has continued and grown deeper since then. As a side benefit I've lost 68 pounds with only 9 more to go (my husband has lost over 80 pounds as he read through this book and has been at his ideal weight for a year and a half now), and I have every reason to believe the weight will stay off for good because the principles in my life now are from God's Word.

I noted 2 people wrote in with bad comments (if you read their comments you will see they are "friends"); I don't agree at all with their perspective, nor do the thousands who are finding freedom through the truth of God's Word contained in the Lord's Table book. I am simply one more voice stating that it is a real joy to be finding my total satisfaction in the Person of Jesus Christ, and that overeating truly can be overcome through understanding what this book will teach you.

Oh, incidentally, the ladies in our church did this study using the Lord's Table Leader's Guide, and I can testify that each person in our group (16 of us) have profited greatly from the study. The Leader's Guide is as good as the book itself.

If I could have given this book a higher rating I would have.

Summary: Freedom from overeating through TLT
Review: I have been granted freedom from overeating, and even more exciting, freedom to enjoy all foods in moderation. The TLT book is an indepth 60 day Bible study that has changed my lifestyle forever. I have learned to find satisfaction for my soul in the Bible, where I had been trying to find this satisfaction in food. The book has many practical applications, and deep Scpirtual teachings, without being over my head. I started going through the book to lose weight, and soon found that that was not my focus. My hunger and thirst shifted from food to God and His word. The by-product is a 23 pound weight loss, regular exercise, lots of energy and joy! I am enjoying foods I had denined myself for years, and truly am satisfied. I highly recommend The Lords Table for anyone who wants to enjoy a lifetime of freedom.

Summary: The Lord's Table: A Biblical Approach to Weight Loss
Review: I spent 8 years of my life in bondage to the sin of anorexia and bulimia. I knew that what I was doing was wrong and not pleasing to God but I didn't know how to stop on my own. I prayed and prayed daily for God to deliver me from my sin only to fail over and over again. God heard my prayer and he used my Sister to bring me a bible study that taught me the correct way to eat. I learned to eat only when my body was calling for food (hungry) and stop when I was satisfied (full). This program worked for me and I have been delivered from anorexia and bulimia for the last 5 years. But slowly I began to notice that something else was missing and I started to feel very distant from God. Once again God used my Sister to bring me to The Lords Table! Through the teachings at TLT I learned what was missing in my life. The other study taught me how to eat physical food correctly but it did not teach me how to eat spiritual food correctly. TLT taught me how to feast on Christ in order to maintain a balance in my life. This balance brings glory and honor to Jesus as well as a new me! Although I did not loose the 10 pounds I thought I should loose, Christ taught me to take the focus off of myself and what the scales say and focus on Him only. I learned that I did not need to loose weight I needed to loose myself and gain Christ! To God be the glory great things He has done!

Summary: I just finished the course
Review: I suggest buying the book and doing the free online course. It's no accident that you've found this book. The course is incredible. I began the course a broken person, with a broken body, spirit and heart. Through this course, I learned that God makes all things new, he tears down to rebuild. This course healed my heart and made me a different person. Yeah, I lost a lot of weight too, but that's not the important part. The important part is that God is in my heart now. I've learned to fill my heart, not my stomach.

Summary: Phenomenal
Review: This study on Biblical weight loss is the best study I have ever done - ever! Mike helps you focus on finding true satisfaction in life through your relationship with Jesus Christ. The hold that food has on those of us who are addicted to it is real. It is a strong chain. The only way we can be free is through a growing intimacy with the Lord. Mike walks us through this growth process and uses scripture constantly to impact us with the principles of Biblical weight loss. I have been transformed by the lessons. Before, I was a defeated, depressed, angry Christian - confused about why God wasn't helping me lose weight. After going through this course, I have life-long principles to apply to eating to the glory of God. I have lost almost 18 lbs. over the course of the 60-day program and am still losing. This is as anointed a study as I've ever seen.

Summary: The Lord's Table-Biblical Weight Loss
Review: What a fantastic journey that The Lord's Table has brought to me. It is full of solid biblical evidence that points to our sins with regards to gluttony and overeating and how to overcome it. Cleveland speaks many times through the book "Its not about the food, it's about the Lord."

At first, a skeptic, then gradually coming to realization that the lessons take an individual through introspection, repentance, and finally victory. 1 Corithians 10:31 speaks "Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." That is such a strong message in The Lord's Table.

Gradually through the lessons one comes to realize that our eating habits when done in exess are not glorifying to God. The god we worship is food in the form of gluttony. TLT takes the reader through the process of turning this gluttony over to Christ.

No guilt is shoved down the throat in the lessons. Rather it is a reliance on the grace, daily grace, that each of us receive from God. Too many times, those of us who fight the fight of overeating focus on the guilt and the "oh great, I pigged out!" That is not the focus here.

The focus is how to turn to Christ in times of wanting to overeat. Each lesson shows one how to do this through reading God's word, praying, singing, fellowshipping, or even witnessing. Christ is more than able to take our pain of gluttoney and turn it around into a form of glorifying Him.

Eat to glorify, not to comfort or cover up pain. The crux of TLT is learning to turn to God in times of want...wanting to overeat. Christ will take our weakness and show us strength in resisting the urge to overeat.

There is a suggested guideline to eating that TLT recommends only on the approval of a physician that helps one to gain control over the eating. Mind you, its only suggested-not required. Remember its about the Lord, not the food.
