Summary: Empowering book
Review: Dr.Lark has produced a wonderful book here. I bought a copy for myself and sent one to my family. The concept of acid-alkali balance is of the utmost importance in recovering from any illness and sadly most Americans do not know this yet. You can take all the medicine or supplements you want or see your doctor every day, but you will not get well until you change your diet to an alkali-forming diet and make some life style changes that will improve your body's pH. Dr. Lark is most generous in taking the time to impart all this wealth of information to the reader to heal. The catch is the reader needs to take the initiative to make these life style changes. Since I am very holistic in my approcach to health I do not agree with taking some of the more chemically-oriented alkali-forming supplements listed in the book and prefer to alkalize with diet and green drink supplements instead. If you want to start on the road to good health read this book!

Summary: Book for the younger generation
Review: I bought this book by hazard a couple years ago, but never got around to reading it, until now. I just offered a copy to my college-bound 17-yr old so that she may begin a lifetime of good eating ethics, or at least be aware of the consequences of not doing so.
Not being born in America, I know a good deal about eating the right foods, but this book has put it very concisely into perspective. I especially appreciate the scientific approach that Dr. Lark has offered us.

Summary: Wrong chemistry
Review: The book, as the title suggests, purports to explain some factors influencing health in terms of chemical principles, such as acid/base balance. However, there are serious errors in the book on the chemical facts that are fundamental. For example, the authors state that oxygen is beneficial because oxygen is alkaline. Outright wrong because molecular oxygen is by no means basic (a better term for ¡°alkaline¡±), or alkaline, in any sense of the acid-base definitions. In other parts of the book they claim ozone is good for health. The fact is that ozone in the breathing air is very harmful to our pulmonary system. Ozone is chemically active and generates radicals to the extent of being toxic in the low concentrations. It is almost criminal to advocate use of ozone generators in the living environment.
