Summary: A Lingering Sense of Hope
Review: 'Until Angels Close My Eyes' is yet another example of Lurlene McDaniel's notoriously melancholy novels. As in her other books, McDaniels is able to portray a sorrowful mood through the characters. However, the final outcome is both depressing and uplifting at the same time. Had the book not had a little hope to cling on to at the end, I wouldn't have enjoyed reading it, but it did. The final message was that in the end, not all was lost.
Leah Lewis-Hall is a seventeen year old english teenager living with her mother and stepfather, Neil. Neil was Leah's mom's fourth and favorite husband, so Leah hoped he was around to stay. She was looking forward to living the rest of her life with just her, Neil, and her mother, that is until she was shot down with devastating news. Neil has cancer. A malignant cancer that could threaten his life. Leah liked Neil, a lot, and didn't want to see yet another father figure dissappear from her life, especially one she cared about so much. On top of that heart-breaking news, Leah had to face the reality that the cancer she once had could also return. So Leah had to live in constant fear of two lives being lost, hers, but mainly Neil's.
There was only one person that provided Leah with the comfort she needed to get through it all. Ethan, her sandy-haired, blue-eyed Amish boyfriend. She had met Ethan last summer while working in an Amish community, and instantly they fell in love with each other. The only problem was that Ethan was Amish, and Leah was English. The two worlds clashed immensly and there was a huge barrier inbetween the two cultures. Lately, Ethan had been experimenting with English ways, dressing English, and even moving out of his Amish household to live with Leah and her family. Leah and Ethan both knew their love was genuine and pure, and they both needed and cherished this love. But they also knew that this culture barrier between them could cause problems for both of their lives. Can Ethan and Leah's love hang tough through the biggest hurdeles of their lives? Can they defy the barrier between their two seperate worlds?
Although there is almost a sad tone throughout the whole book, there are instances that shine through with hope. For example, the angel Gabriella that saves Leah from her cancer, and the changed view from Leah on her mother. At the end of the novel, Leah had a new respect for her mother that came from all of her past and recent experiences. I enjoyed reading this novel because McDaniel balanced Neil's deteriorating cancer condition with certain episodes of hope that made you want to keep reading. The questions,"Will Neil live or die?" and, "Will Leah and Ethans love be able to hang tough?" are not really answered until the last few chapters. This factor makes 'Until Angels Close My Eyes' a quick read that you won't want to put down. My advice is, if you've never seen somebody turn something negative into a postive thing, read this book!!

Summary: Good Book, but Disappointing Ending
Review: Don't get me wrong by the 4 stars, this book was really good. I think it glued me more than any of the other books in the series. It was very sad, and I was REALLY disappointed by the endng. I think I almost started crying because I was so disappointed. I hope Lurlene writes another book in this series so that I don't have to live with that ending!

Summary: It's a Great read
Review: I think that this book was a great book. I have read it three times through and I really love everything about it. I think that it's on a very realistic line. Personally, it's one of my favorite books and after I read it I went to every book store I could to find it, but it ended up finding it about three months later. I love Lurlene McDaniel's books, she's my favorite writer. She helps give me my motivation with my work. I also want to be a writer and I notice how she writes and most all her books end sadly, and that makes it all better. I don't know who wouldn't like this book.

Summary: Left Hanging
Review: Okay, I read all of the Angels book Lurlene wrote. When the book ended I was surprised with the ending.I was left hanging, hoping that there was another book in that series, because the ending didn't seem fluint.I was upset when the main characters,Leah and Ethan just split up. I rate all of the other books in that series a 5 star.I only rated this book a 4 star because there wasn't another book to explain Leah's life without Ethan.I live close to Amish country in PA so I know a little about them, and I thought the author really did her research before writing this book. The facts seemed straight.I hope Lurlene McDaniel will look at all the request for a next book, and consider writing another one.

Summary: Amish or Engish
Review: This book is the best! It is one of three in it series. It's the last of the three.I have read it twice in the last year and I am reading it agian now.I really enjoy this book.It is a story about a girl named Leah.(in the first book had cancer)while in the hospital she meets a guy named Ethan and he is amish. They meet and fall in love.
Leah is now faced with a more problems then she can take. Ethan is caught between Leah, engish, and his family and life on the farm. will there love for each other be enough to keep them together?
Lurlene McDanial's is alsome! She is a great author.h Her books are hard to put down.
I really liked "Until Angels Close My eyes." It is romatic and at the same time keeps you on the edge of your seat. The end is not something that you would expect. I reconmend that you read this book.

Summary: Until Angels Close My Eyes
Review: This book, and this series, is like none other i've ever read! It captures love, lost, and friendship. When Neil discovers his cancer is back, she wants to go to the person that will make her feel comforted, Ethan, and the Longarce Family. I didn't put this book down all day, and yes, i finished this series in 3 days, all 3 books! I wish this book ended, the way i would have liked it to end, but in fact, I am liking the ending now, it shows that Leah, is indeed at home, where she belongs, so please to anyone reading this, don't pass this book up, it truely is one of a kind! :)

Summary: You'll Never Want to Put it Down!
Review: This is definately one of Lurlene McDaniel's best books ever! The whole series is extremely touching but I liked this one the best. I loved the title and even the end was good. After I read it I couldn't stop thinking about it and hoping I will find someone who cares that much about me someday!

Summary: Until Angels Close His Eyes...
Review: Until Angels close my eyes is one of the most emotional stories, but a good one. Even though I have only read this book out of the series, I agree that this is a very beautifully written book and Lurlene McDaniel did a wonderful job of explaining the details and understanding the issue of Cancer. Leah was good influence for people to read about and was not as gloomy as she should have been. I still enjoyed this book very much and I think if you enjoy books like this it will be enjoying for you too.

Summary: The best book in the world!!!
Review: Where's the rest of this book? I think there should have been another part! I wish Ethan and Leah could be together. But he's Amish and she's English....who cares...It could have worked out anyway...if I rewrote the story! Not! Lurlene is a great author! She really knows how to express the way the charectors feel and act. I love all of her books!I wonder what Roberta and Leah are gona do. Is Roberta going to get married again?(husband # 6)Is Leah going to find someone else? Who knows? All I want to say is that every time I read Lurlene's books I cry.....not cuz there bad , but cuz there sad! Write more books and keep up the good work,Lurlene
