Summary: No Comparison to Other Hair Books!!
Review: Beautiful Black Hair Real Solutions to Real Problems is an excellent, well-written book by a professional who has years of experience in the business. Those people who are comparing Shamboosie's book with Cathy Howse's book must remember that Ms. Howse is writing her opinion and she is NOT a licensed hair care professional and never has been. How can one take her advice seriously? Regarding the issue of "black" hair care products and "white" hair care products, I agree with Shamboosie that the only distinction should be made in the quality of the products--whether the product is "good" or "bad." If hair care products were rated, sold and purchased according to ethnicity, then there would have to be products especially for Japanese hair, French hair, German hair, Swedish hair, etc., etc. etc. -- It really makes no sense. I am using the products he recommends and following the methods outlined in the book, and I can truthfully say that they work!!! My hair looks terrific, and I get compliments ALL the time now. Shamboosie's book gives sound advice which has been proven. Keep up the good work, Shamboosie, I'm eagerly awaiting your next book!!!

Review: Before purchasing this book, I had read several books, magazines, and articles on black hair care. Many of them were quite informative, however, none of them as insightful and informative as Beautiful Black Hair.This book is great because it identifies the hair problems, offers simple to understand explainations, gives step-by-step solutions, and offers product suggestions. I have had this book for almost 3 months and have followed the authors easy instructions. Like some of the other readers my hair has never been healther and grown so well. He recommends Nexxus and Dudley products, but only after trying many others. These products have worked great on my hair. Get it to read and learn for yourself, you won't be sorry.

Summary: Pleasantly Surprised
Review: I ordered the Beautiful Black Hair book, as part of an free offer for enrolling in a book club. I was very doubtful about the promises of having longer, stronger, healthier hair with following Shamboosie's program. I purchased the suggested products and followed the conditioning program every four days. Within three weeks, I noticed a great difference in my hair. The first thing a I noticed, was my hair not shedding or falling out every time I combed it. My hair appeared softer and had a shine to it. I was so surprised!! I actually bought a product that does what it promises to do. I am sold. I have been following this program for three months. My hair is stronger, looks very healthy and is easier to manage. I receive positive comments from peers and family about the condition of my hair. Shamboosie's book is easy to read and follow. He gives real solutions, and a step by step guide towards achieving your goal. This book was very helpful and informative to me. It enlightened me on all the damage I had been doing to my hair all these years. I want to thank Shamboosie for this book, and making it available to all black women. GREAT BOOK!!

Summary: A Must Have For People with Chemically Relaxed Hair
Review: I was surfing the net for a hair care book that would help me with my hair problems. I read the reviews for Beautiful Black Hair and ordered it. My hair was dry, brittle, and thinning in spots. I read Shamboosie's book and was so impressed with the information that it provided, it was hard to put it down. I finished it in one day. I ran out and purchased the products he recommended that same night and he is absolutely correct, the right products make a world of difference. I followed the formula's he recommended and saw results after the second treatment. My hair looks and feels so much better. He knocks no-lye relaxers and that's okay because I don't use it anyway. However, I do know people with very beautiful healthy hair that does. As he points out, the key to a great head of hair is conditioner, conditioner, conditioner. Definitely one of the best hair care books on the market especially for women or men with flat cell (kinky) hair.

Review: Much of this advice can be found at longhaircareforum.com. Just basically, wash your hair with conditioner frequently, keep it well moisturized, and only trim when necessary.

Review: Shamboosie has written the best hair cair book for women of color on the market today. He has the answers to most of your hair questions. He explains clearly why black women are loosing so much of our hair and he explodes the myth that "natural" products are better for you. Read this book from cover to cover and take it with you when you go to the salon. If your stylist is doing all the things that Shamboosie says are bad practice, find another salon. The most important chapters discuss the correct way to give a relaxer and how to blow dry hair. Compare what Shamboosie says the what your stylist does. This excellent guide will help you save your hair.

Review: Shamboosie is the ONLY hairdresser on the planet that I allow to touch my hair. This is not an exaggeration. The man knows what he's talking about and what he's doing. I loved this book. Before I read it, no matter how hard I tried, my hair would break off when it reached 4 inches in length. I asked myself if it could be true that most of the blame was in the "no-lye" relaxers and the wrong products. You can take it from me...everything he says in this book is true. (And I wasn't totally convinced until my hair grew so long that it reached the middle of my back) My hair looked GORGEOUS in the Mrs. America Pageant. (I was Mrs. New Jersey) Do yourself a favor and buy this book for yourself and anyone you know and love who's tired of wasting money on weaves, curling irons, grease and the other tools of the trade. Summary: Don't buy into the hype on this book!
Review: The book is excellent! It covers everything about hair care. I wished someone had told me sooner and maybe I would have saved myself alot stress, money and time. My hair turned out beautiful with the products he suggested. May I also suggest if you blow-dry your hair to purchase an ionic dryer (conditioning dryer) as it also keeps your hair shiny without the dry look.
The book is definitely worth the money.

HE IS NOT SELFISH IN SHARING INFORMATION WITH WOMEN OH HOW TO PROPERLY CARE FOR OUR HAIR. I HAVE TRULY ENJOYED THE INFORMATION IT CONTAINS. THE ONLY THING I REGRET IS NOT HAVING A COPY OF IT BEFORE I NEARLY DESTROYED MY HAIR, BUT WITH THIS WEALTH OF INFORMATION,I KNOW MY HAIR WILL BEGIN TO IMPROVE. THANK YOU SHAMBOOSIE.
