Rating: Summary: Excellent down to earth style makes this book a gem! Review: I read the first edition of this book years ago and was impressed with it back then. Now in it's third rewrite I decided it was time to update my version. I'm so glad I did.Anne Semans and Cathy Winks posses a great down to earth syle of writing that makes this book easy to read and digest and yet it covers all the important subjects and a lot more besides. From basic anatomy to sex toys and everything inbetween this book was a great read. I love the qoutes from real people that are included within the book and this to some extent is what sets the good vibrations guide to sex apart from other sex manuals. With good clear illustrations and a writing style that makes this book easy to read, I would say if you only buy one sex manual in your life time make sure it's this one!
Rating: Summary: One sex book, lots of Ideas! Review: I really liked this book because it didn't make assumptions about my sexual orientation or what kinds of things I should like sexually. It just sort of presented a whole lot of options, and laid them out like a big feast, and then invited me to taste whatever I wanted. I have trouble coming with my partner, so I found the information about using vibrators with partners, and enjoying mutual masturbation, really helpful. I also got some good ideas for better oral sex, which is kinda intimidating to me. I like this sex book because I can go back to it whenever I want to learn something new.

If you're looking for a book that has the lot then this is the book for you.A big book that's inexpensive and wont dissappoint.
Rating: Summary: Mixed Review Review: The Good Vibrations Guide to Better Sex must be taken in its context. While it does a fabulous job on philosophy and manages to appeal (and include!) everyone on the sexual spectrum, it is disappointingly light on technique. If you are of the more jaded persuasion and are fairly comfortable with your body and sexual appetites, this is not the book for you (there is not much to reccommend it in the way of new information). I was impressed to see that the sex toy section of the book was of notable length and expertise (but these are the folks who do it best) and to encounter the totally unapologetic enthusiasm for the kinkier aspects of the art of sex. It is a good guide for those starting out, but not of much use to the more experienced participant. (However helping out the good gals of Good Vibes is always a worthy cause!)
Rating: Summary: One of the best sex books around Review: The only thing better than this book is the Good Vibrations stores in Berkeley and in San Francisco. The SF Stores location is as progressive as they come. Right behind a police substation. Can't get any safer than that. Anyone who has been to their classy stores knows that self pleasure and sexual liberation is a right they stress. And the book continues this ideal. Issues from self pleasure i.e. mastrurbation to lone and mutual vibration, dildo and other sex toys are discussed in a thoughtful, complete and honest manner. Yes cunnilingus and fellatio i.e. oral sex are addressed as is safe sex which is a must these days. It is a book for educated, thoughtful and non-prudes. Ignore the negative remarks the anti-sex crowd spout. Buy the book and enjoy the hints it shares.
Rating: Summary: the one to buy Review: There's a lot of sex "guides" out there these - browse the rest but buy this one. Entertaining to read and comprehensive - a book that can answer questions and pique curiousity as well. I really love reading the qoutes from people about their own experiences - they give this book a ring of authenticity and sincerity of purpose that's rare in this world. You also get the feeling that the authors are pretty rigorous in their research and not all invested promoting one "right" magic-bullet way to achieve sexual pleasure. There's something in this book for everyone.
Rating: Summary: Your sex book, not your mother's. Review: This book is packed with real information about the 90's (and beyond) views on sex. There is helpful information on all sorts of activities for all styles, orientations, and pleasures. Not only does it explore techniques to enhance your sex life, it touches on taboo topics that other manuals like to ignore. This book touches on all possible topics. As a therapist, I believe that there is no manual on the market that will be more important for both singles and couples as this one. Read it, learn it, and enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Too Politically Correct Review: This is a wonderfully written book. There is a section for every person to find something of interest. There are several new things to learn here. It is written in a very mature fashion and doesn't make you feel uncomfortable whatever your reading about.
Rating: Summary: Excellent down to earth style makes this book a gem! Review: Whether you're a young person or someone who's been around the block more than once, you'll enjoy Anne and Cathy's loving and open-minded book. Not only do they supply the facts along with Phoebe Gloeckner's down-to-earth illustrations, they have quotes, stories, and tips from their readers to widen the reading experience. I personally liked the GV Tales scattered throughout the book. The chapters on Vibrators and Dildos in particular made me smile. Good advice. Good reading.
