Rating: Summary: Taking Matters Into your Own Hands Review: Are you telling me that writing down positive thoughts, aspirations, expectations and dreams will magically make them come true? To tell you the truth, this business of turning dreams into realities by such effortless an act like writing them down, certainly appeals to me. Her system consists in clearing goals, thus helping to overcome pessimism, negativity, fears, doubts, and low self esteem. Such negative states of mind will prevent the person from takings risks, going for it, and/or reaching his/her more cherished dreams. The idea is to write down, sometimes in detail, what you want to accomplish, what you need, and what you would like to achieve. The fact that we make our own reality, as Seth declares through Jane Roberts, has been proved by Klauser in this book with real life success stories of lives turned around by the simple fact of thinking positive, optimistically, expecting the best and then writing it down, and explaining why. The mind is a powerful thing; actually Mind is the only universal power. All our human experiences are just the externalization of our conscious and subconscious ideas, likes, dislikes and beliefs. Once we increase our confidence by believing something good and pleasant is going to happen to us we set in motion a commanding mental drive toward that potential beneficial reality. The idea is to claim your rights in every situation, to understand you have the right to the best, and to keep from listening to negativity, pessimism, low self esteem and/or bad expectations. In many instances what seems impossible happens after the individual refuses to give up his/her positive drive based on a written list of almost unattainable dreams. The good thing regarding this system is that it works. It has been proved by many people that positive thinking and good expectations when put down in paper and ink have the power of sooner or later becoming a real thing. The author also, according to what she implies, hastens the crystallization of her dreams, by applying visualizations and mental imagery to her list. I, for instance, have for many years been a practitioner of constructive thinking, however with these techniques I feel like a kid in a candy store.
Rating: Summary: Read this book and make it happen! Review: Henriette Anne Klauser, Ph.D., explains how writing down one's life goals is the first step toward achieving them. Her book includes down-to-earth tips and exercises that get your creative juices flowing. This book will help you identify your goals, deal with the negative "stuff" that gets in the way of achieving them, and achieve what you want in life.
Rating: Summary: Good topic , Poor presentation Review: I am very disappointed in writing style of this author. this book could have written in lot simple style and easy to use methods, instead she has given examples in detail that you almost loose focus on what she is telling about.
I would not recommend this book as there are better books out there.
Rating: Summary: Writing Goals and Getting What You Want--It Really Works! Review: I couldn't put this book down. From cover to cover in two sessions-- I read, did the written exercises, and visualized the outcome. Yes, Henriette's method works without question and I love the way she writes. She's amazing. The author takes what other famous writers like Napoleon Hill, Claude M. Bristol, and Barbara Sher have written and brings it to the next level with illustrations from real people who have experienced wonderful outcomes from goals and intentions they have written. She knows her stuff and delivers in a clear, concise format. I can't wait to read her latest book, With Pen In Hand.
Rating: Summary: This book has been good to me. Review: I got this book about two years ago, read it through, and started a goals journal and a tidbit notebook. So far I've done 53 things on my list of goals. The book is simple to read and easy to reread. It's lessons are in story format, so if you dislike this, choose a different book. However, it's a really nice book, that gets you motivated. It's worth reading.
Rating: Summary: Uncertain of what it wants it wants to say... Review: I must say that this book was, at times, an engaging read. But it was also all over the map, and frequently contradictory. I agree with Klausner that: a journal can be a great place to "park one's worries;" writing down one's fears could help someone acknowledge and face them; that writing about the outcomes you want can help you stay focused, etc. Then she goes and ruins it by saying all sorts of fluffy, ridiculous things, and recounting stories that I consider happy coincidences rather than direct results of writing.
Rating: Summary: life changing information Review: i was at a crossroads in my life and i had to make a lot of decisions. my mother's friend recommended that i read this book, she said that it would give me some direction. so i went to the library and found "write it down, make it happen" and was so captivated by the book that i stayed in the library for hours on end reading and writing. taking the advice of the author. the fact that she is a doctor added credibility to the book so i felt that i should give it a chance. now i write things down that bother me, i use writing in my communication with God through my journal, and i write down thoughts, ideas, memories, and feelings. anything that weighs heavily on my head i write down. if for no other reason thatn to free up space in my brain. fabulous book, it makes my life so much easier since i've learned the techniques taught in "write it down, make it happen." read the book!
Rating: Summary: Just What I Needed! Review: I've read quite a few self-improvement books and none of them really gave me what I was looking for. This one is very interactive and makes sense in a simple way. There are many writing exercises from goal-setting to writing short stories that tap into your subconscious mind, revealing your true heart's desires. I find her techniques not only brilliant but quite effective. After running the gamut with self-help books, this one is quite refreshing, helpful, and it works! If you're looking for change and you're not able to make it happen, you should read this book and participate in all the exercises. You'll be amazed at how powerful her seemingly simple techniques really are!
Rating: Summary: An Inspirational "Must Read" Review: If you are attempting to live your dreams this book can help you make them a reality. I began reading Write It Down, Make It Happen on Sunday morning. It was so inspiring and fun that I decided to read it through for sheer enjoyment. I finished it in a few hours. It was a pleasure to read. Henriette's writing flows beautifully and the stories she tells are wonderful examples of sculpting lives through the written word. I intend to read the book again and do all the excellent activities suggested. I was so engrossed by the wonderful writing I just had to read it through completely once without stopping. I believe this book can help anyone become more the person they truly desire to be. Attaining goals becomes a graceful part of simply living when you discover what you want and make that knowledge concrete. Henriette shows you how in steps that are painless to implement. I love this book, and think you will find it a treasure as well. If you are ready to make your life fuller and add excitement to your everyday, read Write It Down, Make It Happen.
Rating: Summary: Could Be Better Review: The general idea this book focuses on is quite interesting. Writing things down, setting goals, realizing your true potential, etc. in order to see certain positive changes happen in your life seems like something that would benefit us all. Unfortunately, this book allows "all" to take away the focus from YOU. The author spent too much time telling other people's stories and how writing things down helped them. Instead she should have spent MORE time discussing how you can do the same things and see positive results. If I wanted to read long extended details of random people's success stories, I would have bought a bunch of biographies instead of this book.
Overall, this book wasn't bad, but I found myself skipping to the end of the chapters in order to find out how I can write things down and have life changing results. This is a self-help book, right?
