Summary: Highly recommended for those new to NLP
Review: A very well-done introductory book that really helps you understand that the map is not the territory, but rather a representation of the territory. Our words are the maps, but too often we think they are the territory. This realization can change the way you think so profoundly, you might look at the world and your life in an entirely new way. As one person said, "It's about ferocious living and curiousity."

Great exercises throughout the book demonstrate and ingrain the concepts into your mind that VERY QUICKLY change you internally.
Definitely a solid purchase for anyone interested in improving themselves and want the see the changes immediately rather than through gradual habit-changing techniques.

Summary: Never mind that last guy the book is good
Review: First let me make a statement about the last reviewers objections. First, hey nobody in NLP claims that this stuff is all air-tight and scientific. "The map is not the territory." This is one way of saying BS is fine if its a useful model. Second, this is not a re-hash of the tremendous book Psycho-Cybernetics in which Maltz has us spend 30 days a night visualizing ourselves with all the behaviors, emotions, and achievments we wish we would have in order to supply a new self-image to our instinctive "success mechanism". (Of course there are many other very interesting ideas and recommendations in that book.) The exercises in this book has us make movies or pictures in our mind, experiment with shifting parameters (submodalities) like size, color, brightness, speed, and border to alter our way we feel about things. As another example it has us rapidly blend pictures from a cue condition to a desired self image (swish pattern). Now I must mention that the Review Synopsis above doesnt seem to describe this book at all to me. Business mettings? Maybe a little. Mostly this book is a self-help book for people who are not really sick in the head but would like to improve their motivation, goal reaching, control over their emotions, persuasiveness, and self-image. The last reviewers objection that there is a lot of mumbo jumbo is a good point. It turns me a little off too... but you can also make the same point about other great self-help books like Psycho-Cybernetics or Think and Grow Rich which believe that there is mystical knowledge floating around in space waiting to be picked up by a tuned-in unconscious mind. Just skip the obvious nonsense. If that kind of BS really bothers you, then you can read Tony Robbins, but on the other hand this book I think is better organized and more fun than his.

Summary: Great NLP program. Possibly the best
Review: I bought this book wanting an introduction to NLP and I received more than I asked for. Not only is it an excellent introduction to the history and concepts of NLP, but it is filled with excercises. You can get as hands-on as you want to with this book, choosing only to read it or to do the excercises once or many times. In fact, for true NLPers I'm sure these excercises become second nature. Also, I feel that the authors have done a lot of experimenting with each technique and have done a good job diluting what works. What is refreshing to me is that some religions use some of these techniques and NLP separates their techniques from religion. In fact, you can go ahead and apply it to whatever you're doing. This book has inspired me to make some changes in my life and has gotten me interested again in things that had become dormant.

Summary: Excellent Book on NLP
Review: NLP Comprehensive has done it! This is definitely the best book on NLP. Written by the trainers from NLP Comprehensive and edited by Andreas and Faulkner, if you're going to buy only one NLP book, look no further.

The book starts off with introduction to NLP, and quickly goes into chapters each filled with power pack NLP techniques ready to be used for everyday applications. In the last chapter is the Unlimited Achievement 21 Day Program.

This book explains and then goes on to show you how to do change your life with NLP. This is unlike other self help book that try "pumping" you up to feel good, without concrete real substance. No fluff, no gimmicks, no pep talk,... just real power pack information that can be used immediately to change your life.

If you want to change your life, look no further. Buy this book now, and start changing your life today!

Summary: Some nuggets of gold amidst a sea of New Age hype
Review: This book has some valuable sections burried in a morass of New Age hype and cheerleading. I think it was the text for a series of tapes published by Conant. There is a lot of fluff, and the whole book probably could have been condensed into about 100 pages. Some of the examples are a bit far fetched. Why would I want to model myself on someone who spurns human society and lives to be a dog sled racer in Alaska? Oh, I guess she was following her bliss and we all should do that to fully realize ourselves and reach our highest potential. Blah, blah, blah, etc.!

Summary: Great Intro to NLP
Review: This book is a great introduction to the world of Neuro Linguistic Programming, or NLP. It not only includes a primer to bring you up to speed on what NLP is, but explains some of the more advanced techniques and methods of programming. About the only downside of this book is the fact that exercises appear in the middle of most chapters, which tends to cut into the "flow" of reading. Still, the exercises appear in a quite logical sequence, and you get used to it after the first few chapters.

Despite its choppy presentation, the book is extremely readable, entertaining and leaves one with a strong understanding of the fundamentls of NLP itself. For those of you who are new to NLP, this is definitely the first book that I would read.

Summary: Good Introduction to NLP
Review: This is a great book for people who want to learn some NLP and test the effectiveness of NLP techniques before immersing themselves deeper.

The book is entirely practical - it is loaded with 43 different exercises / experiments you can do to improve different aspects of your life.

The book has some essential NLP techniques - such as Swish pattern, Fast Phobia Cure, Creating Reapport, Circle of Excellence, Reframing, some basics related to working with Time-Lines - that everyone can benefit from learning and using.

By the time you're done going through the exercises in this book, you're bound to become more empowered and know how to access your inner resources and run your mind and neurology to reach your goals and remove some obstacles from your path.

Summary: Good book to get a bigger picture what NLP is about
Review: This is my first NLP book and I am very satisfy with content and exercises. At the
beginning book maybe talks too much about NLP history, but after you get all
this information you get the some deeper feeling about NLP and NLP related techniques.
Most interest part of book for me was the last one in which you can finally become well
organized and take control of your priorities. At the end I can say that this book is not
for someone who want some fast solution. Use this book only if you already made strong decision to change your life and habits.

Summary: As Near as You'll Come to NLP in a Book
Review: This is one of THE most powerful and effective NLP books to date. It teaches some theory, BUT NLP isn't abot theory, it's about what works - for YOU, as an individual.

A key tenet ("presupposition") of NLP is that *nothing* works for *everybody*, and *nothing* works for *anybody* *all* of the time. You have to try things out until you find the exercises and methods that work "for you". And even then you may find that they work better some days than others.

After reading quite a few books on NLP, I'd say that this is the nearest thing you'll find to the essence of NLP short of going on a "top notch" training course. Read the book, and DO do the exercises, but only when you're ready to progress your life to a whole new level.

For those who are ready for something better - highly recommended.

If, on the other hand, you're really not sure if you're ready to step out of your "comfort zone", then stay clear of this book. Once you've read it, you'll never be able to put things back the way they were.
