Rating: Summary: Black & White Bore Review: Call me childish but I need pictures! Color pictures even better! If you are a visual person I do not recommend this book. There is about 20 pages of text before you get to an actual illustration. Perhaps it should have never been a paperback. Beauty books are best in hardcover...and in color!
Rating: Summary: No more brow anxiety! Review: I love this book! Before I read it, I was definitely brow-challenged, and worried about making a horrible mistake. But it clearly explained how to find the right shape for my face and then use a little tweezing to get it. The authors also recommend using brow powder instead of pencil to fill in the bald spots (I had some from previous bad plucking experiences). Pure genius! The brow powder has made an incredible difference. The result is so much more natural looking, not harsh or painted on. Now, grooming my brows is as routine as putting on my lipstick. This book makes it really easy. I'm recommending it to all my friends.
Rating: Summary: It's simply the best!!! Review: I think is the best purchase I did (...)! (along with Tae-Bo) I just love the way they explain how to define your brows, but if you never did this it would be much easier with the help of this book! Just be prepare to stand out!!
Rating: Summary: The Best Brow Book Ever! Review: I've read just about every beauty book out there and this one is really special. It demystifies the whole brow grooming process and makes it so easy to discover the right shape for you--and then achieve it. The illustrations are clear and the instructions are easy to follow. Ever since I used this book, I keep on getting compliments on my brows. Very worth the low price!
Rating: Summary: An Excellent Resource Review: The most recent book I've read is "Beautiful Brows: The Ultimate Guide to Styling, Shaping and Maintaining Your Eyebrows," by Nancy Parker & Nancy Kalish. This is an excellent resource for grooming and styling your eyebrows. Hair type and face shape are taken into account. It's like all of those great little articles on eyebrows you've seen in the magazines all compiled into one book! (Although it's actually one giant "article" by one set of authors.) I recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Finally found the help my brows desperately needed Review: This book has changed my life, or at least the way I pluck my brows. It gives you a really simple plucking plan to follow, based on your face shape, and for the first time, it all makes sense. Plus, finding out about using brow powder instead of pencil is worth the price alone. I even tried some of the celebrity brow looks (Madonna and Marilyn Monroe) for fun. What a kick! This is a truly great beauty book.
Rating: Summary: My thoughts on the book, "Beautiful Brows." Review: This book has more usable information in it, even though it's a small book, than many of the larger, flashier books!! It covers all the bases, even giving advice on what hair style is the best for your shape of face. It's down to earth and easy to follow and understand. In fact, I liked it so well I ordered another of her books on how to get rid of circles under the eyes. I highly recommend this book!
Rating: Summary: Best Brow Book Ever!!!!!!! Review: This book is awesome for beginners and for experts....it takes into consideration face shape and other prominent facial features, as an esthetician I know! Definately a good investment or gift. Well worth the money!
Rating: Summary: Genious! A brow guru sent from vanity heaven! Review: This has got to be one of the most helpful how to books that I have ever read!It has helped me realise how very IMPORTANT brows are on our mugs.It shows us what to do about thick brows, overplucked brows(My dilema),how to polish them up so that they dont look fake, what shades are right with what hair color, etc.
It also let me know what shape of face I have, and along with that, what brow shape best suits me.I dont care what negative comments the other reviewers have made, this book can easily suit our present day fashion trends.(In fact, aren't designers and make up artists often looking towards the "past" for inspiration?)
What the hell is wrong with sporting "Liz Taylored" thick brows if it suits a woman who can pull off her lush, sexy look, why does it allways have to be dictated by make up artists, just because those barely there,Studio 54 1970's brows are seen on Kate Moss, does not mean that every woman wants to look like her!
In addition to this eye opener of a book (No pun intended),the authors also have an online store, where over 80 celebrity inspired stencils of eyebrow looks can be purchased, for the artistically challenged, so women can sport a different brow look everyday! This book was the 911 of brow rescue, and it is so nice that someone finally wrote a book about this overlooked area that so many women need help with. Now thats amore!
Rating: Summary: Great tips but unappealing format Review: This little book definitely offers some excellent tips for learning how to groom your brows. It begins by reviewing five basic brow shapes and then discussing how to choose the best brow for your own face shape and features. The teaching part of the book describes how to shape and color your brows, reviews various hair removal techniques, and provides guidelines for using the most popular shaping methods. The book ends with a list of famous brows--eg, Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Madonna--and how to acheive them.Despite the good information contained therein, I found the style and format of this book to be unappealling; for me, this detracted from the book's utility. I was surprised to learn that the book was published in 2000, as it has a very dated look and feel to it. When pictures are used (black and white only), the very overdone and made-up appearance of the women is reminiscent of the 1980s, and the quality of the photos is poor. Most of the illustrations are in the form of simple line drawings; they were easy to understand but not at all enjoyable to use. If you are looking for some basic guidelines on brow grooming, this book is likely to be helpful, but keep in mind that the book is just that--basic.
