Rating: Summary: Kir royale for the soul . . . Review: About 10 years ago, author Dalma Heyn did a survey finding that the very happiest marriages - a tiny minority - were based on fun, rather than shared goals or values or anything like that. Who knew? More important, what to do about it?This is the first book I've read that addresses this issue. It's not about "making your marriage work" (frankly, I work hard enough already) so much as changing your perspective to a pleasure-oriented point of view. To that end, the book is just a delicious read, witty, generous and ebullient; I felt happier simply by reading it, without doing another thing! (There are exercises, but the ones I've tried so far are fun.) It's also very man-friendly; I found myself reading whole sections out loud to my husband, and he got all perky and happy too. There are also explicit instructions on how to create a "sister goddess" support network, if you don't already have one. If "Against Love" made you want to put your head in the oven, do consider reading this!
Rating: Summary: Finally - a way out of the pit of despair! Review: As a HUGE fan of Mama's previous two books, which made my life so much more FUN and juicy, I was thrilled to learn that a book about marriage was being published! I am recently engaged so I GRABBED the book and ate it up . . . and it made me learn so much more about men and how I can keep my relationship with my fiance juicy and fun into our marriage! Learning how to take care of myself and encouragement to keep being ME and having fun with all my girlfriends (who she calls my Sister Goddesses!), will keep me on the right track. I can't wait to be married and I owe so much of all of this to Mama! Everyone listen to Yo Mama!

Rating: Summary: Very Good, But need more info Review: I found this book helpful and expresses some of the feelings I have believed about marriage. Divorced and about to enter into marriage again has lead me looking to the answers of how to keep this second marriage alive and fun. But, it seems that she has left it up to my imagination on the hows of some of her guidelines. Maybe that is to entice you to sign up for the $600 over the telephone courses. I have purchased another book to find out if it provides more insight. Hopefully it will provide me with information I am looking for.
Rating: Summary: Finally - a way out of the pit of despair! Review: I have read nearly every book around trying to figure out how to fix my husband to have a better time in my marriage, and to get over my resentment. Mama Gena actually has created a deceptively simple-looking how-to manual for what works. It is definitely much easier said than done, but if you follow her tips and do the exercises, they can get you over your ego and help you communicate what you want versus silently fume over what you wanted but are not getting. Your husband will be much happier for it - and so will you. I totally recommend this book as a plan of action. And I still pick it up and reread when I'm cranky. I do still slip into the fuming thing, but I know, at least, that it's my responsibility if I want to have a better time or if I choose to suffer. As Mama implies - Thank Goddess for Sister Goddess girlfriends, and I say Thanks to Mama Gena!!
Rating: Summary: doesn't work Review: The fact is, men want more than one woman. And no matter what you do, they resent you when you make them give up their harem fantasy. So they expect you to serve them for the rest of their lives. This stuff about men serving women-where does she get this? Is that why they set up patriarchal societies for millenia? to serve us? And don't tell me about the ancient matriarchies. Those have been disproven completely by archaeologists and anthropologists. But then some people believe in bigfoot, too.
Rating: Summary: please stop buying her books Review: Why are her books still being published? She is a horrible, horrible, writer? I read the exerpt for this book on MSNBC, and wow! Was it ever terrible? She is a blitering idiot. Please stop buying her books so we are no longer assaulted with such awful writing--or please, editors, edit out the trite.
