Summary: Some useful information, but not enough.
Review: I was drawn to this book because it is unique in combining track & field and weight lifting. After a cursory look, however, it was obvious that the book did not contain so much specialized knowledge as it claims to have. It seems that the publisher has a general template, and all the books in this series (weightlifting for track and field, golf, badminton, baseball, fencing, etc.) were cut and pasted from that template with minimum variation. In fact, the first sentence of this "track and field" book states: "By opening The Ultimate Guide to Weight Training for Wrestling ...". There is some information on wight lifting in general (not really with regard to track and field) in the beginning and the end of the book, but the rest and a big chunk of this really short book (64 pages and the five page introduction) is dedicated to descriptions and pictures of recommended exercises (about 30 pages). There are two off-season (as well as an in-season) programs in two pages; but it is impossibble to tell for what track and field event they are intended. Both of them are labeled "for shot put, discus, hammer throw, etc."; certainly a typo of some sort, and unfortunately, the book is full of them. An email sent to the company requesting an explanation about the confusing programs has not been answered yet. In short, this book has useful information with regard to weight training in general; however, their attempts to present it as a book specialized in track and field is misleading.
