Summary: I Found It!
Review: It all started before May 10, 2003 before my daughter's wedding and I was so overwhelmed and overpowered by such a special and rather unexpected event that my body practically began to "fall apart". At first it was my knee that gave way, together with severe back pain; a week later, my stomach started hurting, and then came the scary moment when I felt that skipping beats of my heart. My doctor called it "atrial fibrillation". He told me that it could not be reversed and gave me medicine to take and so I was taking altogether 5 kinds of midication altogether. My cholesterol level was high and so was my blood pressure. Out of desperation I went to Honolulu just to get away for a few days thinking perhaps that would help me to calm down.

It was at the Ala Moana Mall that I met Master Luk Chun Bond who was demonstrating chi kung, the ancient art of healing, and immediately I joined the crowd and started learning the techniques of breathing deeply and also its various movements. A day later, I bought this book called, "The First 16 Secrets of Chi" and I started reading it and also following its techniques for healing.

Today I went to see my doctor to see for the results of my blood tests. I was so afraid that, like before, my cholesterol level was very high and so was my blood pressure, but to my surprise, Dr. Fong said to me, "You are the best among the 98% population, for your blood pressure and cholesterol level are excellent now and your good cholesterol is exceptional high." After doing the deep breathing method, my heart begins to calm down.

Now I have finally found the self-healing method that could help me to improve my health. For years I was looking for something that could help me. Finally I am so thankful I have found it. This book is very good for me and I know it will also be helpful to those who are in the same situation as I am. Whoever reads it I know will definitely also be helped by it.

Summary: Invoking the ancestors
Review: Every Sunday and Monday in Kapiolani Park, Master Bond's Tai Chi class is an event my wife and I look forward to. Both of us need all the help we can get! Participating in the class is enjoyable, but more than this it constitutes an important resource. Growing older isn't easy, bringing with it assorted aches and pains. Master Bond doesn't promise to make us young again. But the deep breathing and exercises we do, bringing oxygen to all parts of the body, can only be good for us. An additional plus is the good humor and all-around friendliness of our fellow students of Tai Chi.

Primarily, Master Bond is dedicated to helping others. This generosity sets him apart. But what is truly unique about him is his invoking of the ancestors. He calls the past to aid of the present. His father and grandfather were Tai Chi masters, and appealing to their experience puts us in touch with the sources of our strength. Strong in himself, he stands on the shoulders of others. This combination is stronger than any one of us could be alone. The image that comes to mind is a bundle of twigs. Separate them out and they break, tie them together and no one can break them.

Summary: Qi Whiz
Review: This is an inspirational book about health and happiness through the Chinese martial art of qi gong. Master Bond's journey from a boy who first believed that qi gong was a waste of time to a man whose realization that the art his father and grandfather practiced could be a prescription to ameliorate many common physical ailments occupies the first section of the book, and is told in an endearing fashion.

The illustrations of the exercises are clear and are as easy to follow as still pictures can be for movement. Pictures of how to accomplish the exercises when seated are thoughtfully included for those who cannot stand.

The diet chapter will be particularly interesting to those who have not lived in the Orient or are not familiar with the syndrome yit hei. Master Bond lists types of food that impart yin, yang, and neutral energy flow; and recommends balance in diet.

Master Bond and his wife, Mary, also give freely of their knowledge, with free classes on Sunday and Monday in Kapiolani Park here. They are another reason we are "so lucky we live Hawaii".

Summary: It works
Review: I first learned about Master Bond's Tai Chi Chi Kung class by reading an article in the newspaper. It stated that it was a breathing power therapy exercise and that it had benefited many of his students. My brother George is a shy person, so I wanted him to attend Master Bond's class so that he could overcome his shyness and gain self-confidence.My brother and I have attended the Chi Kung class for eight months now, going through the exercises everyday for at least 45 minutes to an hour.
Our sister, Alice, made a nice remark that she sees a signifcant improvement in the way George behaves. He seems more confident, alert, and he tends to look up more rather than always looking down as he did in the past before he enrolled in the class. As for myself, I feel more flexible, my legs have gotten stronger and I look forward to attending Master Bond's class. My wife tells me that since I have taken the class, she noticed that I have become more calm and less irritable.
George and I follow Master Bond's video tape, "The Secret of the Enchanting Chi, Tai Chi Chi Kung Breathing Power Therapy", and his textbook, "The First 16 Secrets of CHI".People that care about maintaining their health and well-being should commit themselves to doing the Chi Kung exercises by following Master Bond's textbook, "The First 16 Secrets of CHI". Master Bond's book is interesting and easy to understand. In the exercise section the movements are well illustrated and easy to follow. The section that describes the people that have benefited from Chi Kung exercise is encouraging. It tells how people have benefited in various ways.

Summary: I will do Chi Kung for the rest of my life.
Review: Chi Kung is a very beneficial form of exercise for everyone, regardless of age or fitness level. It teaches proper breathing techniques, increases strength, and improves balance and flexibility.

Master Bond encourages everyone to do his or her best, moving only the pain-free range of motion. He explains the purpose of each exercise movement and how it promotes a healthy lifestyle. In his book, "The First 16 Secrets of Chi", Master Bond includes an extensive list of ailments and conditions, which exercises will be optimal for their healing, easy to follow instructions on how to perform them, and detailed illustrations of those exercises. Not only are there physical benefits to Chi Kung, but there are mental and emotional benefits as well. It helps to calm and focus your mind, it enhances your sense of well being, and the social atmosphere helps to develop close friendships.
