Rating: Summary: Excellent training book Review: This book is extremely over-rated. Its just one of over THIRTY books by the same publisher that contain basically the same information. They have Weight Training for (Skiiing, Boxing, Cheerleading, Volleyball, lacrosse, Bowling, Cricket, Badminton, etc.) In this book there are only TWO pages that relate to fencing, and the other 58 pages are just basic workout information (stretching, general training guidlines, etc) and descriptions and photos of the various excercises (e.g. "here's a bunch of excercises for the chest: bench press, dumbbell press, etc) If you've ever seen a men's fitness magazine you'll know what I mean. In fact, the men's magazine's are far better, as this book has small (1"x2" black&white) pictures, and never more than two pictures per excercise. There is NO information on how the excercise will benefit your fencing. The two "fencing" pages are just the 16-week workout regimen, with different excercises (and cycles) for "strength" and "power" If you know anything about weight training and/or your way around the gym then you'll already know that you should be doing your squats and bench presses. And if you DON'T know your excercises, I would HIGHLY reccommend "Strength Training Anatomy by Frederic Delavier" Its available here on Amazon, and is just awesome. Your money is better spent on that book, instead of this flimsy repackaging of excercise photos. There's a reason why they don't have a "Look Inside" for this book - if they did, no one would buy it.

Rating: Summary: Fencing Specific Training - Just what I was looking for! Review: This book is great for fencers looking to improving strengh & conditioning. I am much quicker, and more powerful. Great exercises for lunging and flexibility as well. Highly recommended! 5 STARS!
Rating: Summary: Rubbish Review: This book is highly over-rated. Reiterating what some past people have said before me, this book is completley irrelevant to the sport of fencing. Push-ups and excersises were the last thing i wanted advice about when purchasing this book, however it turned out to be just that. Instead of increasing my agility and strenght, the 16th month program only made me more tired for my competitions and training sessions. The body building techniques in this book make you stronger, however the stronger they make you, the more they slow you sown in your execution. I recomend not buying this book.
Rating: Summary: The Ultimate Guide to Weight Training for Fencing Review: This book is irrelevant for fencing. The exercises he suggests are generally what one would see in any health club and they are of little interest to a fencer. I was hoping for some information on plyometric and complex training for increased leg power and maybe exercises to increase finger strength and modern core body drills. Instead he has push ups, pull ups and cable rows! Also there is no description of how any of the exersices apply to aspects of fencing such as lunges or fleiches.

The exercises suggested are generally what one would see in any health club and they are of little interest to a fencer. I was hoping for some information on plyometric and complex training for increased leg power or exercises to increase finger strength as well as core body drills. Instead he has given push ups, pull ups and cable rows as examples of exercises relevant for fencing! Some coaches would argue that such upper body exercises are detrimental to a fencer especially close to a competition.
Rating: Summary: Great fencing training program! Review: This book was absolutely fantastic for building my muscles and gaining speed. My fencing has improved huge amounts! Thanks a lot! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Rating: Summary: A RIPOFF Review: This is a workout book only . The exercises are not Fencing -specific. In fact Fencing is only mentioned once and that is the inroduction. There is not explation of how a certain exercise helps say for instance one's lunge, parry, footwork or anything . This book could be about any sport. There aren't even any pictures of persons in fencing equipment. Though out the entire book no Fencer living or dead is mentioned. A major disappointment.Picture a SEAL workout book with no Seals in it , none mentioned and no explaintion of how the program helps them.
Rating: Summary: Buy this ASAP!!!!! Review: This is the best book I've found on this subject and is tailor-made for exactly what fencers need! I would definitely recommend this book without hesitation! It's a steal!
Rating: Summary: touche' Review: What a masterpiece! This is the number one book for all fencing enthusiasts. This book helped me with both strength and agility and it can help you too. Don't miss out on this gem of a book, I'll guarantee it helps you in your matches.
