Rating: Summary: Living with MS Review: How can a person live with MS and still be well? Maybe it is not possible, but it is known that the placebo effect has about a 30-60% power in many autoimmune diseases such as MS. So it is reasonable that a positive attitude MAY help--certainly it can't hurt. This book takes that position; it goes over, in a Q & A format, what can be done to maximize the medical and total care of MS, and how to add the "wellness" component as well.
Rating: Summary: Disappointment Review: I was disappointed in the content of this book. Most of the information that was addressed can be easily obtained from other sources, i.e. NMSS. There were statements contradictory to many other sources on diet, nutrition, and vitamin supplements. I think this book would only be useful for the newly diagnosed and I would advise researching other sources before accepting all the statements in this book.
Rating: Summary: A "must" for MS sufferers, friends and family. Review: Now in an updated and expanded second edition, Living With Multiple Sclerosis: A Wellness Approach incorporates the most recent developments in MS management and adds new material reflecting the status of MS as a treatable diseases, as well as new concepts of "wellness" that are of general application and use in managing chronic disease. Living With Multiple Sclerosis uses a reader friendly questions and answer format in systematically explaining how to live optimally with this neurologic disease. George H. Kraft, M.D. and Marci Catanzaro, R.N. collaborate in offering advice on how to take control of one's life in order to maximize health and explaining the ramifications of various behaviors and activities on health and well-being. Covering all aspects of MS from causes and symptom management to treatments, alternative therapies, and the social aspects, Living With Multiple Sclerosis is a "must" for all MS sufferers and their family, friends, and loved ones.
