Summary: Something is Missing
Review: The Pregnant Woman's Comfort guide offers time-tested tips and also some alternative methods to help relieve the discomforts and pains of pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum days. Jimenez' work is commendable except for the very obvious fact that she devotes only about 2 pages to morning sickness, which is one of the most common (and most miserable) symptoms of preganncy. Treating morning sickness as a blip in a book seems inexcusable from a woman who is a registered nurse and long-time childbirth educator. Some women suffer so greatly from this malady that they must be hospitalized, yet many in the medical community still brush it off and continue to offer the same tired advice, like eating crackers, drinking tea and getting lots of rest. Even though some women do not get morning sickness, it is a common enough, and serious enough, complaint to warrant MUCH more attention in a book designed to alleviate pregnancy woes.
