Rating: Summary: Finally - the Truth about Pregnancy Review: "We're Pregnant!" was given to me as a gift and I finished reading it within 48 hours. It is a funny, sensitive, personal and revealing story of a real couples' journey through their pregnancy. It is as if your best friend is telling you ALL the juicy details of her pregnancy (even those you're too embarrassed to ask about) and, oh yea, her husband has some intersting things to say about it too. No other book covers this stuff! Finally, someone reveals the truth about pregnancy. I was relieved to learn others felt the way I did and worried about the same things I worried about. I loved it, my husband loved it; I recommend reading it and giving a copy to a friend. That is what I did and she loved it too. It is a GREAT GIFT book.
Rating: Summary: We're Pregnant gets 4 pacifiers from BabyLounge.com Review: Charming and original, this book is not like most pregnancy books you'll read. Instead of clinical information that most books provide, this is more of a pregnancy diary shared by a regular couple. What I liked most about this book was reading about someone else's pregnancy story (from trying to conceive to the beginning of parenthood) and finding out how similar my experiences were to those of the authors. Somehow it brought me great comfort to know that I was not the only woman who gained too much weight, insisted my husband put his hand on my belly every time our baby so much as wiggled, and was disappointed that my in-laws didn't do back-flips when we announced that I was pregnant. Most of this diary-type chronicle is written by the expectant Mother, but the husband shared his thoughts enough times to give us a realistic idea about what goes on in the minds and hearts of expectant fathers. As I was reading this book I often laughed out loud and felt compelled to share what I had just read to my husband knowing that he would appreciate what the father-to-be was experiencing. Being pregnant is the most phenomenal experience two people in love can experience. However, there are times when we question if what we are going through is normal. Reading "We're Pregnant" reassured me that not only am I normal, but in very good company.
Rating: Summary: A wonderfully candid narrative of one couple's pregnancy. Review: FINALLY, a pregnancy book written from both the mother and father's point of view!! This was, by far, the best pregnancy book that I have found. My husband and I read "We're Pregnant" when I was 8.5 months pregnant. Read it and then give it to your husband to read. Cindy and Eugene Kappler each describe their thoughts and feelings during the nine months of pending parenthood. Eugene's thoughts are especially funny and engaging. I found the candid descriptions of the labor experience very detailed and comforting. Thanks Cindy for vicariously holding my hand through my last months of pregnancy. Reading your book was like having a big sister walk me through the often intimidating pregnancy process!! I just wish I would have read your book earlier!

Rating: Summary: Polly Sunshine gets a present Hooray! Review: Great concept but is it realistic? I don't wish bad things on anybody but where are the nagging doubts? The screaming fights? The God awful labor pain? Authors are a little smug for my taste and I kept waiting for a family feud or something I could comiserate and relate too. My husband will not get to read this book lest he think having a baby is too easy and pretty much my problem. I'm not sure these people are real. Was this written by a computer programmed by a man?
Rating: Summary: A delightful book Review: I got this book friday and finished it saturday. Truly a wonderful book. Cindy and Eugene both talk about becoming pregnant, the pregnancy and the birth from both perspectives. My husband and I could relate so easily. There were parts that we laughed together too. Cindy really takes the time to explain medical test and why they were perform, all through the pregnancy. Concerns she had and how they resolved them. They also show how they worked thru some of their frustrations and you feel the energy of their excitement and love for each other through the whole book. A must have book.
Rating: Summary: The most fun that you'll have reading about pregnancy. Review: I had so much fun reading this book. It is the best (story) book about pregnancy that you can find. Cindy and Eugene are down to earth people that you start to like on page one. This is a book that I will recommend to friends that are expecting for years to come. In this book she really makes you feel like she is your friend and that you are there with her throughout the entire pregnancy. Thanks Cindy, for telling us what others won't

Rating: Summary: Mostly good Review: I have never been pregnant, but am in the pre-planning stages. I read this book in one afternoon, so obviously it must be pretty good. There were a few things that bugged me though. I kept wondering how old the couple was when they had their baby, because at times they seemed annoyingly immature. I thought it was very strange that they both instantly disliked, and continued to dislike, their obstetrician, but did nothing about it. It also bothered me that she almost flat-out said, "It's financially irresponsible for us to have a baby now - but I want one anyway!" I also thought the situation with the in-laws was weird and felt unfinished. Why did they act like that? Did they ever come around? It seems like the authors should have either explained it better or just left that part out. Overall, though, this was enjoyable and definitely different. I actually wish there were more books like this written by different couples.
Rating: Summary: Lots of details - Excellent and true-to-life! Review: I just finished reading We're Pregnant! and I loved it. This is the first book I read that gave me a true-to-life, honest-to-goodness idea of what I might feel like, look like and go through during my pregnancy. The author's description of her labor and delivery left me feeling like I had just given birth - I feel much more prepared now for my own delivery. The comments from the father-to-be were often funny and I found both myself and my husband laughing outloud in many places. This book is great for anyone who wants to know what the whole pregnancy, delivery and new parent experience is all about. Expecting fathers will enjoy it too.
