Summary: Great book, better than What to Expect when you're expecting
Review: I am in my third trimester and I have had this book since I was 4 weeks pregnant. I love this book, the illustrations are great, and the descriptions are not too clinical so you can understand what it is that they are talking to you about. Being able to see the baby every 4 weeks is so great, it allows you to feel connected at a very early stage. When reading this book you never feel like you have every bad symptom know to pregnancy like some other books make you feel. When reading this book you feel wonderfully happy and healthy! There are sections on problems with conception, pregnancy and birth, but it does not focus on it. It focus on healthy babies :) I also like the section on choosing a birth method; it informs you what the difference is between a home birth, water birth and a hospital birth. I feel that if you have any fears with your pregnancy, don't get "What to Expect When You're Expecting", get this book

Summary: WONDERFUL!
Review: I bought this book as a pre-conception guide. What a guide it is! This is the best book ever published and covers just what the title says: Conception,Pregnancy AND Birth. I recommend this to anyone that is thinking of becoming pregnant or who already is. The pictures alone are worth it! I like how it follows yourself and baby's growth from week to week. VERY INFORMATIVE! This book is a MUST HAVE!

Summary: Conception Pregnancy and Birth Review
Review: This book is the ultimate companion to any pregnancy, from before conception to after the birth. It follows not only the mother's changes, but what the baby is going through.

Summary: Good general book, but lacking re-assuring detail
Review: I'm expecting my first baby, and it's a very unsure time as your body goes through numerous changes. I have lots of questions and I found the book a good general reference on all the subjects that are usefull. But when I hit a problem and I wanted more detail I found the book lacking. You too may find yourself coming back to Amazon like me to look for books that provide sufficient detail to answer your questions. The section on the changes you experience and the development of the baby was dealt with in too large chunks, I would have liked a more month by month approach.

Summary: A Great "Read"!
Review: Between this book and "What to Expect", I was covered. While "What to Expect" was a great referance tool, it was a very dry "read". This book was fun for my husband and I to chart the baby's progress (as well as my own). I bought several other books but this one and "What to Expect" were the only two I read throughout the pregnancy.

Summary: A very nice book on pregnancy
Review: Dr. Stoppard's book comes from the Dorling Kindersley publishing house, which can be relied on for being correct and uncontroversial, and above all, very nice. All the women are beautiful, all the babies are washed, and there are no really graphic photos anywhere. There are lots of quotes from real people, and they are all fairly positive and upbeat. If your main concern is to have a happy pregnancy without any worries, and with enough guidance to see you and your baby through safely, then this is a good book for you.

Of course, some people actually like seeing what birth looks like, and appreciate books that deal with some of the more controversial aspects of motherhood head on. To be fair, this book deals with a fairly important one - episiotomy - in a very helpful way. There is even a two page article about a single mother. But overall it presents a very clean and simple approach to motherhood which some people might find unreal.

Summary: A gorgeous picture book
Review: This book isn't the most detailed pregnancy reference book you'll find, but it's certainly one of the most beautiful pregnancy books out there. The photos of the developing fetus and the changing body of the pregnant woman who appears in the various spreads certainly make the book worth purchasing.

If you're a second-time mom (or a first-time mom who's done a lot of reading!), you might find the content a little bit light, but other than that, it's an excellent book--one that's fun to have on your night table while you're pregnant.

Summary: Beautiful Illustrations and Incredibly Informative!
Review: My husband and I are in the planning stages of pregnancy at this time and were looking for something that covered all the bases from conception through the first few weeks of life. This book provides all of this and more! However, the real-life illustrations are the most outstanding part. What a wonderful portrayal of the miracle of life! In addition, as a nurse, I found the information to be things I already knew but enjoyed reading anyway!

Summary: Best Pregnancy Book Ever!
Review: Truly a bible for Pregnancy and Birth. Excellent, full-color photos of pregnant stages and delivery. A wonderful guide that explains all stages of pregnancy from the mother's and baby's viewpoint. This is the only book you will need!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The best pregnancy guide on the market!
Review: The handling of the subject, from both the baby's and mother's point-of-view, made this book stand out well above the rest. The illustrations and detail of developing babies, as well as the photographs and enhanced ultrasounds, are so far superior to the information provided in the "What to Expect..." book, that I stopped even consu1lting it. The perfect gift for expecting mothers.
