Summary: Just the facts, mam!
Review: Stoppard's brief mention of surrogate motherhood looks like it was gleamed from tabloid tv shows and news clips. The negative portrayal goes so far as to conclude (erroneously) that one way surrogates may become pregnant is by having sex with the biological fathers! Readers who want accurate, helpful information about surrogacy or other alternative reproductive options won't want to waste their money on this book.

Summary: This was my wife's most loved book during her pregnancy
Review: This book was very informative, out of the over ten books my wife bought when pregnant she referenced this one the most and I also enjoyed it, it contains everything you need to know about preconception, conception, birth and even thereafter. Thumbs up from me!!

Summary: Great Book! Especially For First Time Pregnancys!
Review: I am halfway through this book, so far it is great. It has lots of information that is very easy to read and understand. It has lots of informative pictures. I haven't found another book on the market that even comes close. I picked out several out of the pregnancy hanbooks on the market and by far this is the best!

Summary: Good, but lacks organization
Review: I enjoyed this book, however my biggest complaint is the organization of the data. The week-by-week pages are by far the most often referred to and need to be expanded with more serious information. For instance in the first chapter there is a case study of 'The Older Mother' it states in this section that there is a possibility of Placental Insufficiency (premature separation of the placenta just before term). This information is not mentioned at all in the 'Up to 38 weeks' section. This is information that probably would have been very helpful to me before my baby died in utero at 38 weeks from unexplained causes.

Summary: Pointless. Lots of cute pictures, little or no information.
Review: This is the pregnancy book I never, ever open. Well, that's not entirely true -- we keep it in the bathroom and thumb through it when we're stranded and desperate for anything to read.

It's got a lot of completely unnecessary photographs and very little text, and told me absolutely nothing I needed to know and/or didn't already know. I can see the author made quite an effort, but this is really little more than a picture book. At sixteen, my daughter turned up her nose at this book; she thought it was a hygiene text for junior high students. That might be one use for it. I can think of little other.

Summary: I love this book
Review: I really enjoyed reading this book! It is great for first time parents and people thinking of pregnancy (or trying to conceive). It is very informative with sections on conception and fertility, nutrition and excersive, labour and newborn care. I would recomend this book!

Summary: Army Officer, Wife and Mother
Review: This is THE BEST PREGNANCY BOOK EVER!!! My time is severly limited, so bottomline directness is a necessity in my life - that's why this book was invaluable during my first pregnancy. I leant this book, and a few other books to a close friend during her pregnancy- guess which one was never returned. This book is a gem because it gives you a strong visual cue that you can identify with - It's comforting to see what you and your baby may look like during each month of pregnancy. The text writing is precise, with very appropriately sized, meaty chunks of information that seem to answer every question as they come to mind - it's wonderful! I love the set up of the book too, just reading Dr. Stoppard's book was like embarking on a journey, little treasures of pertinent information around every corner. I'm now expecting my second child and my first thought was -I need to order my Pregnancy Bible! (Dr. Stoppard's Conception, Pregnancy and Birth) With this book in hand, I'll feel informed, confident and prepared, just as I did through my first pregnancy.

Summary: Very informative step-by-step guide !
Review: The book is very useful for all first time parents as well as couples who have had children before. It won't give you solutions for every single problem under the Sun but it sure is a good reference book. Very informative.

Summary: Nothing new if you paid attention in health class
Review: Was I the only one who was not totally impressed by this book. It seemed like all the information in this book espically about conception could be obtained by paying attention in health class while you were in high school. I found it particularly disturbing that this book doesn't even mention the fact that when the tiny dividing cells implants in the uterus that it may be possible to bleed and therefore think you are having a period. (This happened to my friend and she didn't even know she was pregnant until she was two months along). My doctor assures me this is very normal and happens to a lot of women. I did learn a little about what helps the common complaints throughout pregnancy, but other than that I gained little insight. I guess if you just breezed through health class this would be a good review.

Summary: Great book... A must have for all the new-to-be-parents
Review: Thank you Dr. Stoppard for such a "motherly" help. We were newly weds living apart from our family, and that too when we needed them the most (my wife being pregnant with our first child). Thanks to a family friend we came across this book. It guided us thoroughly through all the complications of pregnancy, right from the first week till the birth of our baby boy. It is a well illustrated book and written in a language that speaks to you directly. Since then I have recommended this book to all my friends. Get this book... you won't be sorry!
