Summary: I am Robyn Spizman - author of When Words Matter Most.
Review: After writing 64 books, I am dedicating to writing books that will make a difference in other people's lives. WHEN WORDS MATTER MOST has a special place in my heart since it taught me some of life's most meaningful lessons. I spoke to individuals throughout the country and asked them what words and deeds mattered most to them throughout their life. The greatest lessons came from the simple things people do for each other during happy times as well as times of sorrow.

Feedback from all over the country has indicated that this book can really impact your life. Whether you find yourself at a loss for words, desire creative ways to express yourself, desire innovative gifts to give others or want clever poems, sayings and quotes for every occasion...this book is for you! It's the one stop shop for words and deeds for all situations, holidays and life events.

While I learned so much from writing it that I share with my readers, here's a very small sampling of these important lessons. In the chapter on sorrow, individuals facing life's challenges and heartache encouraged others to reach out no matter what...even if you don't know what to say! Express your thoughts, don't procrastinate, don't miss an opportunity to tell someone you care about them, you're sorry. Even when words fail you, simply say you're sorry. In the event of a death, talk about the person's life and things you learned from them. In the event of an illness, little deeds like cleaning out someone's refrigerator, driving a carpool, the little things mattered most. In that chapter I give you words that people have saved for years that touched them deeply. They are yours for the taking.

So in the spirit of this book and true acts of kindness and heartfelt expression, I ask you to consider this! Call someone and tell them you love them, make up with an old friend or family member you've held a grudge with, thank someone you've meant to thank for being there...for helping you, inspiring you, for caring! The power of a kind deed (like the ones discovered in this book) will boomerang right back to you and bring you endless joy and the satisfacton of knowing you have made a difference.

And one last thought....my newest book THE PERFECT PRESENT: The Ultimate Gift Guide For Every Occasion will be out this coming September, 1998 with over 16 years of gift research. I'm ecstatic about this book because I believe that giving a perfect present creates timeless memories. I've found the most creative and meaningful gifts across America....the best 1-800 numbers, free catalogs, innovative gifts and where to find them.... you'll love it!

And hey....my warmest thanks for reading my books and joining me in my creative endeavors. I am eternally grateful for your time and consideration.

"Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves."--James M. Barrie

Best always for a life filled with those things that matter most. --- Robyn Freedman Spizman

PS - Thank you to the Reader from Philadelphia for your five star review. This did my heart good.

Summary: Not as great as I thought
Review: From the review I thought this would be a great book to have, but I find it lacking and thin. Many of the suggestion were repeated, like call 1-800-flowers at more than one occasion. I thought this book is more about ideas of words to write, and indeed it has some, but not a lot to choose from.

A different book that I have which I find more useful is "How to Say It" by Rosalie Maggio. I would recommend that book over this one. Not only did this one offers many phrases, it has several examples of complete letters, etc. as reference, and it tells you tips on what to write and what not to write. It addresses to 50 occasions compare to I think less than 10 in this current one.

Summary: With a Little Help From a Friend
Review: I absolutely love this little book! Holding the job of Administrative Assistant in a well known company I send out a montage of correspondence. When Words Matter Most... is the best investment I have made. It is filled with thoughts, ideas & actions that I feel has let me express myself more freely. Thank you Robyn!

Summary: Not what I expected
Review: I bought this book thinking it would help with my holiday letter writing and a letter I wished to write for a friend who recently married. I was very disappointed in the sparse selection of sample letters and the overabundance of poems and gift ideas. It's not something I'll reach for often.

Summary: Too much poetry
Review: I did find this book helpful to some degree, but a good portion of the book is made up of poems to use. Poetry is OK sometimes, but many of the ones in the book were rather corny. I can't see myself using poems every time I want to convey my feelings. It would have been more helpful if there were more sample letters in the book.

Summary: Master Being Meaningful
Review: I saw this author on The Today Show last year and knew I had to buy this book. The thoughtful words and deeds in this book just add to the perfect present ideas Robyn recommended on Today. After reading this book, I feel assured that my gifts and words will matter most to those who matter most to me.

Review: Spizman's book of useful tips, hints and resources for anyone who aspires to BE the kind of person who cares and does something about it is really wonderful. I already think I do a pretty good job saying kind and encouraging things to others. This book really gives me ideas and encouragement for doing it. I plan to give copies of this book to many friends. A great and useful resource. Also, her daughter's book, The Thank You Book for Kids is a terrific how to book for young people.
Highly recommended!
