Rating: Summary: rianne eisler "lite" Review: a fun read. Much better than 95% of the drivel in women's magazines about "how to's". this is entertaining, and reinforces some important stuff. If God is love, then loving your own body and appetites is loving God. c'nest pas?Nope its not enormously deep and intellectual, but fills a niche (so to speak). If you want to ponder these topics in an intellectual fashion, read rianne eisler's book on divine pleasure.
Rating: Summary: Don't waste your money! Review: A very boring & dull book. I gave the author one star and only out of pity! I suggest the author direct her writing to making out grocery lists. A friend lent me this book and I'll never speak to her again!
Rating: Summary: love your audaciousness! Review: As a slowly evolving shy girl, I'm glad that I got a hold of Mama Gena's book. True, some of her axioms are retreads, but I find her attitude infectious - and that's what I need! Mama Gena encourages women to go for what they want, secure in the knowledge that the Goddess will support them when they aim high and expect the best.
Rating: Summary: "Conjuring" works! Review: As an artist switching jobs 6 times last year (by choice), I decided to stop working and do my own thing, painting. This wonderful book only gave me more courage than any of the other self help books I've read. After finishing this easy read in one night, I quickly asked for a higher quote on a project I was working on for a client, and was granted the wish that same night! Also, my boyfriend and I have been having problems in bed in the sense that I wanted us to be more explorative, but that's been taken care of as well! He's been more affectionate and lovey-dovey as ever. Get this book. It makes your days a lot more "pleasurable". The world moulds around you, Goddess!! I would also recommend THE CONFIDENT WOMAN:Learning the rules of the game by Marjorie Hansen Shaevitz.
Rating: Summary: Not what I expected! Review: But I did enjoy it! Very entertaining and not for the faint of heart! LOL
Rating: Summary: Please yourself, flirt with others, and change the world! Review: Despite our lip service to the contrary, and that great Cyndi Lauper song, most girls don't love to have fun, because we live in a pleasure-fearing Puritan culture that is still highly, highly, suspicious of women's pleasure...especially, you know, down there. Mama Gena is here to change that. Mama Gena is a flirty feminist in caribou boas, a hedonist/ activist who deeply believes that a woman's desire is her power and her pleasure. In a series of exercises, she leads the reader to answer the question that Dr. Freud answered WRONG: What does a woman (you) want? When you can answer that--and you will--you will find your life changing in big and small ways. I am usually the biggest doubting Thomasina in the self-help book world, but whether it's energy, vibes, or the fact that you're smiling more, things have certainly shifted for me since I read this book. Who knew fun could be this much...fun?
Rating: Summary: A dopey, boring book!! Review: Even one star is too much for this silly, boring book. With its childish dribble and senseless stories, the author sounds like she can't be more than twelve years old. My only consulation is that I bought a used copy so I didn't waste too much money.
Rating: Summary: Oh yeah. I'm a Goddess! Review: Funny things started to happen after I read this book -- I stopped subconsiously criticizing myself in the mirror, I stopped caring whether that Death by Chocolate dessert was going to kill me, and, more importantly, I stopped feeling sorry for myself. Imagine that! Now, I basically do what I want, when I want, how I want and without any residual guilt. This book is Oprah/Dr. Phil with a definite edge. Let's just say that if Mae West were still around, she'd probably write the introduction. Enjoy and Indulge!
Rating: Summary: Much better in person than in print Review: Having graduted from courses with Regena, I can tell you that her message comes across much more powerfully in person than in this boring, silly book. Yes, the classes were silly, but never boring and seldom mean. In her reliance on telling so-called "anonymous" stories of certain sister goddesses, Regena's weak and self-serving spirit shines through. Personally, I recognized at least two of these so-called anonymous goddesses gone bad ... in fact I watched them get dumped from her VIP list to her ca-ca list. These women are not anonymous to me -- someone who watched them struggle with real life issues -- I recognized them by the stories however tweaked they were to seem like someone else. I originally attended classes to have FUN. Fun I had indeed until I grew annoyed and bored by Regena's penchant for finding and then -- suddenly -- dumping her teachers' pets. Interestingly enough, her latest dumped pet is none other than "Auntie Beth" who she applauds in her book. Yet, Beth has split and started her own venture supposedly more "nice" and "love centered" than Regena's program. Wha-T-ev-Er since I also very well remember Auntie Beth -- before she was Auntie Beth she was just plain Beth, a Nervous Nellie in class who giggled relentessly like a 12 year old about boys. I so could NOT relate to people like Beth and some other women who attended these "fun" classes but who really needed serious therapy for serious problems (not an insult, just a simple recognition of the REALITY of mental illness and problems beyond the scope of masturbation therapy). Regena firmly held to her beliefs that therapy, antidepressants and groups like AA were not needed if you simply followed your pleasure. Yet another reason for my depature from this crime scene was her total disregard for science, illness and addiction. Regardless of my opinions I came to personally form of the person, I got the book hoping to recapture some of the FUN and only found ... well ... not much. I couldn't even get halfway through I was so bored. And, truly angered that she would print the stories of women she seared when they were looking to her for guidance. I went to those classes to have FUN, get wild with fun women and experience things in life that are not readily available to the masses. I found that, plus a lot of ugly stuff that turned my day in the park into a mudslide.
Rating: Summary: It doesn't deserve one star. Review: I have read thousands of books on many different subjects. But this book is by far and away the biggest waste of money and time I have ever had the misfortune to read. The whole book can be summed up with this statement, "Think about your [privates] and smile". Jeez!!!
