Rating: Summary: Good book to help family and friends Review: When I was beginning my investigation of my own gender identity, I started with this book because it was recommended to me. Now I am recommending it. This book goes into a great deal of depth about gender identity, and provided some eye-opening facts to help me understand what I have been going through. I still go back to this book often for reference, and I highly recommend it for friends and family who know nothing about this phenomenon. Very few people out there really know what transgenderism is all about, and this book can help those people to understand. I am so thankful to have this book.
Rating: Summary: At last someone who understands us... Review: I couldn't stop crying the first time I read this book. In fact I couldn't put it down. As a Transsexual moving through transition, I felt a spiritual bond with all of the other lost souls and the inner struggles we have had in our lives. At least I am not the only one in this crazy world. This book is recommended reading for anyone who wants to understand the whole 'Transsexual' thing and the struggles we place ourselves through (sometimes at the cost of isolating ourselves from our closest friends and families, losing our jobs, breaking up of families, etc). This is no easy path to travel and the ones we feel closest to need to read this book at least once.
Rating: Summary: An Angel Review: Dr Brown is an angel who helped a friend of mine find some semblance of peace.
Rating: Summary: The BEST book on transexuality Review: To understand if one is transexual this book is a must. I cried all the way through it. Kept saying "that's me exactly". After reading it, I gave it to my GP who I'd confided in. I couldn't expect him to make head or tails of my labwork without knowing about my hormone regimen. Micha

Rating: Summary: an excellent first book on the subject of transsexualism Review: This book is excellent for those who wish to learn more about transsexualism. I found it very comforting for myself (I am a transsexual)-the title leads you to believe that it is useful only for friends, family etc., but this is not the case. Anyone who believes they are transsexual should read this one FIRST! It is very readable and non-technical. I have bought several copies for loved ones. It really is that good.
Rating: Summary: Briliant and Compassionate Review: Dr. Brown has been working with gender dysphoric clients for 23 years She explores delicate issues with compassion and understanding. This book comes the closest I've seen to conveying what it's like to be gender dysphoric as well as what it's like to come to terms with your gender issues so you may lead a happy productive life. I've given copies to family members and close friends who have gained a better understanding of who I am by reading it. Thank you Millie for this wonderful book.
