Summary: Book that handles bullying beautifyully
Review: Sam Horn's book provided enough information to handle not only adult bullying in the workplace but to understand the nature of bullying in children. I used the information in this book to create a bully prevention program for children and teachers in schools. I highly recommend Sam's humorous style, expert advice and well written chapters.

Summary: Smart strategies that work
Review: Seems like everyone has a bully story to tell and Sam Horn's smart, practical strategies give heart and advice to those who are being victimized. Her imaginative chapter titles preview the creative how-to's inside. Her conversational tone does not patronize. It engages the reader, lets him/her know she understands the pain and the risk involved in being proactive against a bully. The audience for this book is wide: parents, teenagers, spouses, employers, employees, and the elderly. I learned a lot from it and thank her for writing it.

Review: Take the Bully by the Horns is another winner by Sam Horn. Bullies come in all shapes and sizes, from the sweet little ole grandma who manipulates through guilt, to the abusive and violent spouse. Sam addresses these and all those bullies in between, with her usual great mix of humor and serious information and techniques that can be used in a wide variety of situations. This book is full of useful, helpful information and will be appreciated by anyone looking for advice in how to deal with bullies.

Summary: Bully and battered women
Review: The first half of this book is excellent and gives some very usefull advice. It is geared toward professional situations.

The second half of the book is a self help manual for battered women. It spends a lot of time telling verbally and physically abused women how to escape from these circumstances.

Summary: Ready, Set, Go Become Bully Free!
Review: This book is full of practical advice, offered in a clear, easy to read format. No lengthy chapters...you can absorb a couple ideas, put the book down to practice your newfound techniques, pick the book up the next day and learn more! (A great book for the busy person!) Horn cuts right to the chase with wonderful examples to show just how easy the methods are to apply. Her catchy titles capture the reader's attention and the contents keep them reading.

Never before have I identified so totally with the ideas in a book as I have with this one. The author's writing style is refreshingly down-to-earth. You get the feeling she's "been there, done that" and thus, you can readily connect to the offered suggestions.

I like how Horn helps you identify whether you're dealing with a real bully or just an occasional difficult person. And that her advice is not to stoop to your adversary's level, it's always to respond in a graceful manner that deflects their intent. Through the stories she shares, she clarifies situations in such a way that makes it easy to understand how the methods work.

Every school and library should have this book!

Summary: WOW! I never thought I'd read such a valuable book!
Review: This is a must-read for any teacher, nurse, parent, or employee who works with hard-to-work-with people! Sam's succinct, funny, and well-written advice is simply terrific! She's obviously "been there and done that" when it comes to dealing with bullies.

As a school counselor, she offers counselors, teachers, and parents an invaluable resource for stopping bullies in their tracks! She has methods that anyone could successfully use. I wish I had this book 25 years ago when I was in school!

Without a doubt, this book will change lives. I'm buying 3 more copies to give to my colleagues. I don't want to lose my copy! I'm hoping that our school system will purchase copies for every parenting library.

One caution: Don't read it alone. Have people around to wonder why you keep laughing and saying "Right on!".

Summary: Incomplete
Review: This is probably a great book for the majority of people who have problems with bullies. Unfortunately, it doesn't at all address the problem of having a bully for a boss. It does touch on the problem where a boss might have a bully for an employee, but since management is normally on the boss's side, I don't feel that there's much here for people who are being bullied by their employers. This may limit the book's usefulness for those who feel trapped between an abusive employer and a hostile job market.

Summary: Save Money,Time and Energy- Read Take the Bully by the Horns
Review: Wow! Sam Horn has tackled a pervasive problem in Take the Bully by the Horns. Our world is less civil, less patient, and more stressed. As a result, there is more bullying behavior-- from you towards me and from me towards you. Horn's opening questionnaire reminds each of us that we may have our own unpleasant behaviors to resolve even as we confront the unpleasant behavior of bullies in our lives.

Chapter by chapter, the author identifies specific bullying issues, clarifies their source and intent, and then provides specific strategies to deal with a variety of bullying behaviors. How valuable that she goes beyond what we typically think of as bullying and also addresses the subtleties of bullying in uncooperative, passive aggressive, and victim prone behaviors. And there's more.

With sharp wit, Horn provides gentle, but firm prodding to victorious action. Don't just do something, do something that adds value. What's the problem that you need to address? Is it to put an end to suffering in silence? Is it recognizing that nice can become too nice? Do you dare to adopt the "don't you dare" attitude? There's no doubt about it; Take the Bully by the Horns gives great strategies to deal with tough bullies.

This book is a remedy for every man, woman and child who must work and play well with others. Take the Bully by the Horns is your low cost, high end prescription to less stress and greater peace of mind.
