A great choice for teachers, parents and those who guide youth. A very enjoyable read...because it is so true! I'm planning on giving several as gifts! What a fabulous book! Read it! You won't be sorry!

Summary: 20 Principles That Matter...
Review: An outstanding book that lays out in an intelligent way those core principles that lead to true success and happiness. Although the book is relatively short, it packs in a timeless message that can be helpful to all who are open to it. Ignore the snobbish tone of the professional reviewer; the writer simply states his case without a lot of hype as most writers of the genre do. The book was well worth my time.

Why Not Learn From the Mistakes of Other?
You Can't Afford To Make Them All Yourself by J.R. Parrish
www.parrishonline.com

J. R. Parrish went from high school, to milkman, to a Fortune 500 company's number-one salesman in America. Against the odds, the Silicon Valley commercial real estate firm he founded grew to be one of the two premier firms in that market. He retired at age fifty-five on the Big Island in Hawaii. In this easy-to-understand, power-packed book, J.R. reveals the lessons he was taught by his mentors, and those he learned on his own, about finance, business, marriage, career, school, friendships, dating, family, health, thinking, habits, and most importantly, how to deal effectively with others.

Reading this book gives you the opportunity to learn the best way to deal with many of life's most important situations before you have to experience them.

It is a constant life companion that you will refer to again and each chapter has a Lesson in a Nutshell summary of important points and A Few Profound Thought inspirational quotations for quick and easy review and reference.

I have donated a copy to my local library and have given away at least 10 copies to family and friends as gifts.

Summary: WOW!!! What an Eye Opener
Review: I can't believe the amount of direction this book can give in life. It has some very good lessons about living life to the fullest and making the most of who you are. I would recommend this book to everyone because I think at some point it is good for all of us to evaluate ourselves.

I think that this book is especially good for teachers so that these lessons can be passed along to children/students. Too often children are not exposed to these lessons, which I believe would make them much more aware of what they want to do with their lives.

Summary: Makes you think about what is important in life!
Review: I had to read this book as a part of a master's of ed. course entitiled "Educating Students on Character." While I found it to be inspiring in the classroom, I found it to have a profound affect on me personally. This book is so well-written and easy to read, yet it really causes you to reexamine things in your life. I know it sounds cliche', but this book has really changed my life. It has caused me to have a whole new outlook on, and approach to, life. I wish that everyone could read this book and be as profoundly affected as I have been.

Summary: Wise and wonderful!
Review: I love this book! Hal Urban managed to make common sense seem new and fresh, reminding us of all the most important things. Rather than trying to be flashy and outrageous, Urban sticks to the tried and true knowledge that most of us have forgotten, and in doing so, he puts us back on track about how to live our lives. This book should be read by everyone who's struggling with how to live an authentic, meaningful, happy life...I guarentee it will enlighten and encourage anyone who reads it.

Summary: Makes you think about what is important in life!
Review: I read this book a little every night before I sleep. I sleep better because the book is uplifting and I go to work a little stronger spiritually. Many times we are already at this level, but we can be brought down to the negativity level so quickly by others. Reading this book and re-reading will help you form those "good habits" that most of us already have but seem to throw away at the front door of work (sometimes the door to our vehicle). I work in a very negative environment and really need to be uplifted. After I read this book the first time, I re-read one chapter before I go home, so I can leave the negativity at work. I will also be buying copies for friends and those "others" (who need it immediately). I had the pleasure of meeting Hal Urban and he practices what he preaches. Great book!

Summary: This is an Owner¿s Manual for a Happy and Successful Life!!!
Review: Its timeless message on character education should be read by every child, parent and teacher. It is sure to become a classic.

I have given away at least five copies to family and friends!

It was awarded Best Inspirational Book of the Year 2000 by Writer's Digest Magazine.

I have donated a few select books that have been added to my local Public Library. This is by far the best inspirational and motivational book I have read so far. It contains the wisdom of the ages and essential life truths.

A few of the books I have donated are: HOW TO SUCCEED IN LIFE: Ideas and Principles They Don't Teach in School by Ned Grossman, MASTER SUCCESS: Create a Life of Purpose, Passion, Peace and Prosperity by Bill FitzPatrick, a local author from Natick, MA, FREEDOM FROM FEAR: Learn How to Live Life to the Fullest by Mark Matteson, The story of one man's discovery of simple truths that lead to wealth, joy and peace of mind, and I DARE YOU By William H. Danforth.

I highly recommend Life's Greatest Lessons, as it teaches the wisdom of the ages. This book is so wonderful, that after I finished it, I went back and re-read it again. Periodically, I will reread certain chapters again. I am very select in what I choose to donate to the library. I am donating it to the library so it can benefit the most people possible. This book on character education is a topic not normally taught in schools. It is an "owner's manual for a happy and successful life." It describes in a simple easy to understand manner, common-sense life skills that can be applied immediately to enhance and enrich anyone's life.

Summary: A Wonderful Gift for Parents, A Wonderful Gift to Children
Review: Mother Teresa said, "Do small things with great love." Dr. Urban embodies this essential life lesson. As a single parent, he raised his three sons to understand and know the principles that guided his life. He also knew he might not be around forever, so he wrote down as plainly and directly as he could what he wanted his sons to know in case he wasn't there to guide them. Well it's no surprise to find that his message is exactly what we all need to be reminded about in our lives. In a humble, generous and altogether authentic voice, this small book offers a lifetimes's worth of wisdom. This book will inspire you to do your best, to contribute something helpful, and to be grateful for the opportunities life grants you. This is a perfect gift for a graduate, or new parents, or for yourself when you need a little inspiration.
