Summary: My ex-wife would have loved this one!
Review: There's undoubtedly some good stuff in this book but also a lot of waffle as well. I asked a female friend what she thought of his approach to woman's moods - "an evasive man who looks into my eyes and sings -- i'd shove the fool out the door". His masculine and feminine archetypes lack depth - they're too much like soapie stereotypes. I also have a problem with the idea that the superior man can fix everything with the love he has to give. It's nice for us men to hear - but it naive. Again - the type of woman he's talking about - are they really feminine, or just very emotionally immature? The book itself is just beyond mediocre - nothing superior here.

Summary: I AM a woman in love with a Superior Man!
Review: This book has made a great difference in our relationship! At the point of almost giving up after 29 years, my husband and I found this book. We read it together in bed at night. For my husband, it has meant a deeper understanding of who he is in the Masculine essence, being fully present. For me, it has meant a greater understanding of that Masculine essence as well as a deeper understanding of how my Feminine essence is more about radiance - my being is different than that of my husband - and the difference is beautiful! At first, the book hit me with some unusual insight, and I would say: "Wow!" Then the point shifts to the feminine and I would say: "What?" (because I am not sure I like what Deida is saying - sounds like it could be sexist, but it is NOT!), and then he pulls it all together in a way that is deeply moving, empathic and compassionate of BOTH men and women! David Deida cares about people and has a unique manner of stating the needs (AND desires) of both sexes, while honoring them at all times! He definately understands women! WoW! I love this book! I am excited for his future and mine!

Summary: Daily Meditation
Review: This book is invaluable as a thought-provoker. Each chapter is just a page or three, with an even shorter summary at the beginning of each. I like to just peruse the table of contents and pick something that makes sense to me today. Every chapter has me scratching my head - it'll bounce around for the rest of the day, with the result that I think, and that by the end of the day I see the world a little differently. I am left inspired. For that day, at least, I am a better husband and dad.

This book has been especially refreshing for me, having grown up in a family of women, and gone to college in the 70's at Oberlin where the suggestion that there's any difference between men and women was sacreligious!
I've given away probably 6 copies of this book.

Summary: Manupilated? Or superior?
Review: This book is not for someone who want a relationship (or life) that is fair. It IS for the man who wants to *give everything* for his deepest purpose in work, relationship, and sex. Do you really feel *at depth* that you are a victim and need to fix your partner? If so, don't read this book. If that doesn't feel like your deepest truth, get it and read it now.

Summary: some insight, some idiocy
Review: This book sounds like it is based on a very narrow understanding of women. While some parts ring true, i.e. if my love life stinks , nothing feels right, other parts of the book will get men on the wrong track for a woman like me. I find his chapter on the reliability of what women say ridiculous. Though I can get quite emotional, I generally mean what I say and do not do a 180 degree turn five minutes later because my mood changes.

I have read two other books of Deida's. I believe he may have some insight into the male psyche, which makes sense since he has one, but for understanding women or more complex men he falls short.

Summary: disappointed
Review: This book was VERY dissappointing . It is all very vague material as if the author is trying to appear very enlightened and spiritual but only succeeds in saying a whole lot of nothing.

Summary: Wow.
Review: When I read the reviews of this book, I couldn't believe that there were nothing but 5 star reviews. Well now I know why. Someone finally had the courage to stand up and address the fact that equality is not the goal of the current growth of social consciousness, but that it is merely one of the necessary stepping stones to the highest existence. Before reading this book I was deeply afraid of how tumultuous gender roles had become in our society because of the resulting uncertainty. I now have a whole new viewpoint with a new set of tools to create the life I seek.

Summary: Some of this is quite silly
Review: While I agree with some of this book the bits about men needing to always maintain theior composure, humour, and love in the face of female insanity is quite hard to swallow. Just try and be that way a few years into a marriage with a woman who is always raging. Sadly, some women are simply too irrational for the average male to be able to understand and deal with. IN these cases it's est for the man to leave...at least temporarily than trying to be some love studmuffin who oproclaims that he will ravish her and then follow through.

Sometimes her anger is a real turn-off, Dave.

Summary: the best book I've read on the subject, period.
Review: With humor, deep insight and unequivocal honesty Deida lays bare the essential differences between masculine and feminine energies, and the challenges inherent in balancing these polar opposites in relationship. This book describes perfectly the reasons men continually try to fix things with their heads, and why that almost never works with a woman. I think this book provides an excellent navigational chart for men who are seeking to take the time-honored advice, "Want her to be more of a woman? Try being more of a man!"
