Summary: Ancient Wisdom for the Modern Man
Review: "The Way of the Superior Man" is a revolutionary new look at the challenges facing the contemporary male. David Deida encourages men to live a full life and to find their deepest purpose so they can give their deepest gifts to the world.

After reading this book your view of the world might change. You will hear new meanings in songs, view your sexual relationship with much more insight and start to unravel the tangled web of life. Suddenly spirituality and sexuality merge into an ecstatic experience.

This is more about living the poetic life than being trapped and tangled in a web of your own making. It is about breaking free and overcoming the challenges of human existence. This book mainly focuses on how men deal with their career/life purpose and women. As a woman, you might be surprised when you discover which one men find to be the most important.

If you are a woman, presently living with a man who has lost his "deepest purpose," then this book will explain why a man's view of his "purpose" can make life heaven or hell. After reading this book you will see why it is of ultimate importance even in an unpredictable world. I agree with the author completely on this issue. A man cannot love a woman fully unless he is happy with who he is and where he is going.

If you are a man living with a woman who is not filled with sexual energy and vitality and who seems depressed, edgy and not that interested in sex, then this book gives insight into the mysteries of a woman's heart and soul. It explains what turns a woman on in the depths of her being and how a man can take her into the realm of sexual ecstasy.

Not only does David Deida unravel the mysteries of women, he has a profound and ancient knowledge of how men function on their deepest levels. He answers so many questions, I truly felt more enlightened in regards to relationship and life issues.

What is a man's highest priority?
When should you start to enjoy your life? Is the time now?
Are you willing to do what it takes to stay on the edge?
How can fear become your friend?
Why you should allow yourself time to discover "the unknowing."
How a period of unknowingness can lead to knowing your purpose.
What makes a man more attractive to a woman?
Why do women love it when a man takes charge on a date?
Why do women refuse to surrender? What does surrender really mean?
Is she just a woman to you? Or do you want to change her?

David talks about not changing a woman, but loving her. This is so true. I also believe a woman is like a flower who can be encouraged to bloom more fully under the care of a loving man. Whether than means he has to use humor or spend more time during sex, it all counts.

I can imagine David Deida singing: "She's Always a Woman to Me" although I think he'd change the words because he seems to know the secrets to getting back to the garden of Eden. Women want a man who is sensitive, spontaneous and spiritually alive. A man who can lead a woman into deep intimacy is unimaginably sexy.

If the man she is with is not helping a her to "bloom," she will either wither, find inner strength or find another man to lead her to sexual ecstasy. I do think some of his explanations about sex border on "orgasm as a tool to attaining enlightenment."

The type of sex he seems to be talking about is "sacred sex" and is superior to ordinary sex because he describes men achieving an almost oneness with God through having sex with a woman. This seems to be more in line with "Tantra" which has its roots in Tibetan Buddhist spirituality.

While ordinary sex is more mechanical and still pleasurable, he is talking about a rapturous spiritual experience in which the body, mind, heart and soul experience bliss. It is called "divine ecstasy" where the boundaries and ego dissolve. Tantric Sex includes long periods of total devotion and could involve sacred rituals, so you may or may not wish to participate in the more "spiritual" aspects depending on you religion. You almost need to go away for the weekend to find the time.

So, when David talks about spending three hours with your lover, he isn't kidding. While many philosophies focus on the denial of our senses, this book encourages the full engagement of all the senses. There is an awareness of Tantric Sex, but no deep explanations.

David Deida does show a deep understanding of Tantra in general as he seems to embrace life with a deep spiritual understanding and seems to see living as an ancient art in which you live in harmony with existence.

I think the main goal in this book is to encourage men to see that they can control their lives and that in fact, women want them to be in control. Confidence is of course very sexy. This book is especially for men with a masculine sexual essence who want to deepen their life experience with a lover who has a very feminine sexual essence.

I have found all of David Deida's books to be intellectually appealing and also sexy on a primal level. I think you can decide what you want to add to your life and there is so much truth in regards to the male/female interaction as a dance or a game. Love becomes the ultimate pleasure. Life becomes a path into an open sky.

Summary: Superior!
Review: Blend the poetic eloquence of Robert Bly with the passion of Sam Keen, add a dash of zest from the Sterling Men's Weekend and New Warrior Training, and you get this exquisite book for men in the 90's. Deida writes with great clarity and insight; his discussion on a man's mission and the right place for a woman in his life is something to savor and take to heart. There is much in this book that rang true in the deepest part of me--I can't recommend it too highly. Most importantly, the material in it can be applied readily to life situations---this book "grows corn". Ken Wilber called it "a guide for the non-castrated male". I agree. This is a life-affirming achievement of the highest order. Bravo!

Summary: Absolutely fearless
Review: David Deida brings no-nonsense fearless wisdom to the many questions and issues that men need to address in order to live from their depth. The text is very readable and the guidance contained therein is communicated with clarity and compassion. Combining this work with active particpation in one of his workshops or intensives is almost certain to bring about a transformative experience. All spiritual men's groups, indeed all men, would benefit from connecting with David's work.

Summary: An Insightful Journey Into the True Heart of Masculinity
Review: David Deida's startling insights are a welcome contrast to the adversity between men and women that we see and hear in the media every day. Deida brings us together as man and woman, revealing the complete folly of all of the elements of our respective genders that pit us against each other. It is not masculinity that is the source of our present social problems, but rather most men's rejection of their true masculinity, as well as our complete lack of understanding about how to deal with our feminine counterpart. I started reading this book over again the minute I finished it the first time. I will probably start it again when I finish it this time! David Deida explained to me numerous things that I did wrong in the marriage that I just left... and things that I now know I am not going to do wrong again.

Summary: Heavy on the touchy-feely; not very practical.
Review: Deida goes to a lot of trouble discussing man and his place in the universe in very ethereal prose, but comes up short in the "traction" department. There's not much here to walk away with and apply to your life. Comments like, "continually shower (your partner) with boundless love" when she is being impossible doesn't cut it, folks. This, it appears, is his answer to everything. Oh, and by the way, ejaculation is bad. Please.

Summary: is it da or is it memorex?
Review: deida's stuff is pretty much just adi da's stuff with a slight twist. deida was a one-time devotee of da's organisation, adidam, and if you check through da's books (especially early ones like 'the enlightenment of the whole body', 'the garbage and the goddess', 'love of the two-armed form' and 'the dreaded gom-goo') you have more or less already seen the scope of deida's teaching. also it might help to know that da is considered to be a dangerous, misleading failure by the majority of spiritual teachers world-wide, as well as many noted ex-students, and as deida's work is such a close match to da's then maybe it is better left alone.

Summary: Indeed I am superior...
Review: Dieda's book has definately had a positive impact on my life. After numerous failed relationships and not having a clue as to why things didn't work Dieda gave true examples and explanations as to why things happen the way they do and true solutions to those problems.

I am not a skeptical person. I am willing to try new things and test them. If they don't work in the real world then I assume that the assumptions that the author made are untrue. In this case, I have found that the theories that he has made ring true in actual use.

I've always known I am superior, but it took the book to show me how to express it. When a girl I was dating told me that I was the most masculine man she had ever met I knew something was clicking. She had no idea about the book or where I had learned how to unlock my potential. She just said it. I believe in what the book teaches.

Maybe it won't work for everyone, but I suggest if you are open minded and willing to give it a shot. You have nothing to lose except a chance at happiness and freedom.

Summary: Excellent, outstanding, brilliant!!!!!!
Review: Firstly, I am a woman!! I read this book out of curisoity and was totally amazed at David Deida's insight into men, as well as women! In fact, I am almost lost for words!! What can I say - beg, borrow, or steal it, do anything to read it! It has helped me to better understand my man and him - me. We already have an wonderful close relationship, and this intimacy between us just deepens the more we understand ourselves, especially as two individual people manifesting very different energies, ie; the masculine and feminine. Learning to appreciate and celebrate these differences is what makes my life so rich and fulfilling. David Deida - you are the greatest!!

Summary: An incredible eye/heart opening look into women.
Review: Given to me as a gift, I can only thank the person so many times. David D. has a way of cutting through the BS & PC and getting right to the point. After having read Men are from Mars, Women from Venus, I thought there was still something missing. Well, I found it in this book!! If you are a male struggling, desperate to understand who your wife/lover is and who you should be...then get this book NOW! David doesn't sprinkle magic dust on you, he just tells it like it is. He is direct and it is about time!!This book helps a man understand how to be a "MAN", and have the heart, soul, and depth of Love for himself and his "WOMEN". If you really want to stand tall and be the best for YOURSELF, YOUR WOMEN, and the WORLD, then get this book and read and understand what David is telling us. For me, this was the book that allowed me to understand my wife, as though someone had just taken a blindfold off. To say that it has been profound for me and my wife is an understatement. This book helped me to know and truly understand more of who my wife is and how to honor her accordingly. It also showed me where I need to focus on who I am and who I will be. This book is for those who want to hear the truth and live their lives to the fullest and with passion. If you are a timid or shy man (I was not)in search of strength....this is your catalyst. It has given me more strength with proper focus on how to use it. Apply what he talks about and maybe you too can have profound changes in your life!
