Summary: Sweet, Sexy, and Sassy - The Art of Being a Southern Woman
Review: Ronda Rich has created a "must buy" for every American woman - and a "will want to buy" for every red-blooded man. She has revealed the secrets that southern women hold dear to the heart. We are feminine, but don't let the appearance fool you - we are strong, capable, thriving creatures. We don't manipulate - we coax and convince and seduce - and all in the best interest of others (of course!).

The book is a humorous combination of personal family stories mixed with southern life philosophy. Ronda is a captivating writer. You won't put the book down until you finish - and then you'll just pick it back up to start it again. With Christmas just around the corner, I will be buying a copy for every girlfriend I have - southern or not! I'm looking forward to seeing what Miss Rich comes out with next year!

Summary: Ronda Rick picks up where John Gray left off
Review: Lord, what a fun, delightful read. There are two things I like about this book. First, this is a true, Southern voice in our finest, oral tradition. Second, there is value for men in the insider perspective on that most precious Southern ideal...the Southern lady...a.k.a. the Belle. Even men of the South (who ought to have learned by now) are often mystified by this phenomenon...and all Southern women have some Belle in them. For any man who has been strafed by a Southern woman and is still trying to figure out what hit him, this book might provide a clue; at least help his understanding of the process. And any woman who wants her fellow to understand her, might want to get a highlighter out and share. Read carefully, a man might even begin to get a glimmer of understanding of how he's being handled, and most importantly, why it feels so good. For women, this is a book about reaching full potential as a woman without diminishing femininity; rather using it to maximum advantage. This book will polarize some. It has to. But look deeper. There is gold, emotional gold, in these stories. Well done.

Summary: What every man should know
Review: I wish I had read this book years ago! Now I understand why some relationships have gone so well and some have gone so bad. I must read for every gentleman - Southern and otherwise. Ms. Rich has pulled the vail of secrecy away from the most loveable of all - the Southern woman. Her real life stories provide a solid base for exploring what Southern women are all about.

Summary: The book is a gift to all women
Review: "What Southern Women Know . . ." is an absolute delight. I have known Ronda for years and once had the pleasure of working with her. The words in the book come straight from the heart.

I knew it would be good, but I was surprised at the refreshing good advice, the chuckles and the true southern wisdom the book contains. Not only that but the people she tells about remind me of the people in my own family. Thank you, Ronda. Your book is a gift fo all.

Summary: A life-enriching text
Review: I really enjoyed "What Southern Women Know" by Ronda Rich. I think the author very cleverly used her southern heritage to address good manners, kindness, and a common sense approach to day to day life. It's an excellent self-help book for anyone who is interested in improving relationships while building one's self-esteem. I especially enjoyed the colorful analogies the author used to make a point or keep the reader's attention. Her sharp sense of humor helped to make the book very entertaining as well. Experiences in the corporate world gave her credibility as a value-driven manager which techniques can be applied in the corporate setting as well as a personal management model. She offers conventional wisdom how to follow instinctively a path of individual self-expression and how to develop a charismatic leadership style. When people are treated as partners and valuable decision makers, they feel empowered and are allowed to shine. This life-enhancing book is another text to encourage personal growth.

Summary: Thank you for the enthusiastic and warm reception!
Review: When my agent asked me to consider writing "What Southern Women Know", I was skeptical as to whether others would be interested. Yet, I wrote what I know best --- the women of the South and the common knowledge that is shared by those women. As I am quick to point out in the book, this world is filled with many wonderful women and many of them live outside of the South. Some of my favorite women in the world live in areas other than the South and from those women I have learned as much as I have learned from Southern women, albeit a different philosophy and education. To express anything otherwise would be ungracious and that would definitely not be an example of what I stress in this book --- the practice of kindness and graciousness to everyone. The bottom line is that all women have wonderful qualities and most of those women are tough and resilient. The difference lies in the specific packaging of qualities and attributes of Southern women, including the love of all things feminine. As I say in the book, Southern women are different from other cultures but regional differences are what makes this world so wonderful and so interesting. I am overwhelmed by the enthusiastic response that this book has received and to all of you, I am enormously grateful for such a warm reception...especially to all the men who have written to say "This is the kind of woman I'm looking for!" or "This is the kind of woman I married and I am so proud of her." This book is a celebration of all women and their self-empowerment to be the best possible, especially the ones I know best --- Southern women. As I say in the book, they are the magnolia-scented breath which sustains the life of the South.

Summary: Kindness and gentility are not out of style.
Review: While this book is sure to raise the hackles of women not raised in the South, especially if they wish to take exception to some of the tongue-in-cheek descriptions and suggestions, all people can take lessons from it. Ms. Rich states often that it is kindness, manners, and consideration of others that gets us more of what we need than being demanding and thoughtless--or as being perceived as ungrateful. As she says, it isn't easy maintaining this behavior (being kind and polite)--but if you try it long enough, you may get to like it. Most of us raised by southern mothers have had this taught to us from lap-hood--along with a large dose of femininity. Ms. Rich has shown in her TV interviews that she walks her talk. And hey, I'm vintage southern, and I still put my make-up on every morning even if there is no one to see me but myself!

Summary: A book of simple good manners and common sense
Review: I had to laugh out loud at the reviewer who described this as a guidebook that "any southern woman could have written ..." Isn't that what the title says---What Southern Women Know? Looks like truth in advertising to me. This is a well written book and worth time I spent reading it.

Summary: This woman walks the walk.
Review: Rhonda Rich does the South proud. Reading her book is like having secrets whispered in your ear by a true Steel Magnolia. For every woman who wants to be more.

Summary: Don't Waste Your Money, honey
Review: I got burned on the hype. I was so disappointed. There's nothing fresh, nothing we don't already know (and yes I'm southern to the bone.) It's a sanitized "guidebook" to southern womanhood and any southern woman could have written it with one hand tied behind her. You'll find more "how to" tips in "Good Housekeeping" or "McCalls". It's not even well written! I wish I'd been warned. I want my money back.
