Summary: Bravo! a classic women's health book
Review: "Our Bodies, Ourselves" is a classic in its own right -rather ironic for a book that's on the cutting edge of health politics. Sister, if you can't buy this, find a decent library and in any case having read it, you'll be better informed about both your body and your society.

Summary: Knowledge leads to Self-Actualization
Review: "Our Bodies" became an invaluable source after an unplanned pregnancy. Coming from a conservative background, I was unprepared to ask my doctor the questions I wanted and really need to and this book provided me the support I needed. Also, I use it to find out what could be the cause behind symptons and such for my daughter and myself. Definitely comprehensive, the index provides a wealth of resource and information. I will definitely be passing this one on to my daughter.

Summary: A great woman's health book for any age of women!
Review: A great woman's health book for any age of women! (And men too!) - I have to say this is one of the best woman's health books that I've read and it's a must read for all women out there. I got this as a gift from my sister and was a little intimidate, yet enthused by the length. I am an avid reader but having so much school work seems to keep me from reading as much "pleaser reading" as I would like. After finishing this book I have found that I've came back to it again and again for questions and facts. This is one of the best books of it genre out there in my opinion, not only for women but for men also. I think that it should be required reading or at least reference in junior high, highschool, and any health class for that matter. If you've been thinking of picking this one up, I encourage you!

Summary: The only women's health book that's personal & political!
Review: A must for every woman. This book has been around for almost thirty years in one form or another, constantly expanded and updated. The present version, a dynamic combination of the old and the new, contains information we all need, and places our personal experiences with health care in a political context. What happens to you may be happening to others. You may have some new knowledge or insights. Use this book as a reference, and gather your friends together to discuss the subjects, adding your own stories, and band together to change adverse conditions. Women working together mean strength and accomplishment. You can keep the women's health movement alive. And remember, you don't have to be a "professional." The original authors of the book were guided by their passion and their will to change health and medical care for women. Good luck!

Summary: Don't buy this book!
Review: An alternative medicine physician recommended that I get this book. After reviewing the agenda of the BWHBC, I will not sell my soul to read the points that I find of value and compromise my feminist soul to support the organizations agenda and goals. This organization supports and promotes abortions, teen sex and the pill. If you want to support the voice of women who can not speak for themselves, I see no better starting point than supporting the truly voiceless, our unborn sisters and daughters.

If we spent as much time and effort teaching and lobbying for our daughters to continue there education and helping them find finacial support to reach there dreams, as we do educating them about "safe sex", how much more fulfilled would there life be.

The pill; I can't think of a worse invention that truly supresses our femininity. Biologically speaking, our hormones, influence our decision making and help us define ourselves. Why would you want to support an organization that aims to suppress ovulation and hormones, two of which naturally intertwines our femininity.

There are better books than this, that will give guideance without having to sell your soul, or those of our sisters and daughters to get information on our bodies and alternative medicine and healing.

Summary: When I was just a little girl I asked my Mommy...
Review: As a child born in the early 1970's at the height of Rallys, and women's Lib I grew up with this book on our shelf As a curious child i looked through the pages at the pictures stumbling on to the page with people in the "act". As an adolecent i looked through the pages and read about women in North America As a 25 year old I look through it for refrence, a bible As a 40 something in the distant distant future, i think i will be still looking at it, maybe with a neice, or daughter. A book for Us by Us about Us with Us in mind

Summary: Very dissappointed
Review: As a heterosexual man, I learned so much about women in this book. Medical, sexual, racial, class, and political Our Bodies, Ourselves has it all. Reading level is very basic. This book should be a must read for any high school aged person, women and men alike. After reading this book, I discovered I was going about my conversations, relations, and sex with women all wrong. I used to be tense because of my lack of knowledge, but I find myself more at ease and more comfortable, less anxious.
I should have read this book fifteen years ago when my mother first suggested that I do so. Fifteen years later is better than never.

Summary: This is the absolute best book on women's health
Review: Each edition of this book has always been both exactly on the pulse of what the world needs as well way ahead of its time. How mean-spirited of the one reviewer to begrudge the fact that this book dares to treat lesbians, straights and people of all colors and creeds alike. Equally valuable in the book is its emphasis on how politicized women's medicine is. If you read no other book on women's health, read this one.
