Rating: Summary: Smarmy waste of time Review: Remember when you were 13 and the whole world seemed to revolve around you? When every little thought that popped into your head seemed as though it was original to you; that you were the first person to have ever thought of it? Well, that's this book in a nutshell. 64 pages of seventh grade narcissism. In the vapid and self-flattering tradition of Tom Robbins, Richard Brautigan and Tama Janowitz this book offers hackneyed and "wacky" advice for the easily amazed. If you find yourself routinely impressed by the emotional depth of a Hallmark card, then this book is for you.
Rating: Summary: Trust him on the sunscreen Review: This book has THE best points and views that a person can make. From love to living he covers it all. Now that high school is coming to an end I really get the entire effect of what he is really trying to say, and Finally someone put the basics of life down in words. Its everything they never taught us in school and everything we ever just wanted to hear from someone. It makes you think about life and how short or long it is. As he says,"The race is long, but in the end its only with yourself."
Rating: Summary: Selling out Review: This is not really a book as much as it is a pristene example of the American dream of selling yourself out to make a few dollars. This "book" was originally a piece Mary Schmich wrote one day in her Chicago Tribune article. The article gained national attention when a prankster sent it out over the Internet, claiming that Kurt Vonnegut had written and delivered it as a graduation speech at MIT. Of course, this garnered vast amounts of press and publicity for Ms. Schmich, who is now cashing in the golden goose. If you haven't received the article via the e-mail scam, don't buy the book--save your money and get the stupid article off the Internet.
