Summary: THE BOOST TO KEEP GOING .
Review: I started the program a week ago today and it makes me feel like I have so much vigor. I don't want to miss a morning doing the program.. I like the messages in the book, they do help me keep on tracking and I have tried other things B 4 that I never could feel good at doing, not this. And after the first week, I lost four lbs and that feels so GOOD, I know I will keep doing this program......

Summary: High Speed, Low Struggle way to get HEALTHY
Review: A lot of diet plans market themselves as ways to lose weight, emphasizing how much weight you'll lose on their program. Jorge Cruise's approach flips that over, focusing on what you need to do to GET HEALTHY. It's not a "quick fix" (or believe me, I wouldn't be writing this review); it's a sensible plan for changing the way you think about what you eat and how you live your life.

The exercises are simple, and really don't take long to do - and you'll feel them working in the first week. You also don't need to buy a gym membership or a home gym.

If you're looking to change your life, and not just skinny down quick only to gain it back again, this is a great book.

Summary: I'm motivated and doing great!
Review: This was a quick read and enjoyable. It got me motivated and ready to go every morning! Focus focus focus! Combined with "Conquer Emotional Eating" by Dr. Laura Hall, I had the whole package!

Summary: From Flabby to Fit in only Eight Minutes a Day!
Review: Like many people, I have struggled with weight all my life. And also like many others, I have tried all the diets and exercise regimens available, but all to no avail - until I came upon this book.

Mr. Cruise's determination, enthusiasm, and energy immediately kick you in the pants from the very first page. As my derriere was rather large and doughy when I began this program, I did not actually feel the pants-kicking, but the electric jolt was nonetheless conveyed to me by implication.

Mr. Cruise realizes we must start from our own level, whether it be that of a retired pro-athlete or a morbidly obese, middle-aged lump of fleshy inertia. As I was the latter, I certainly appreciated the way Mr. Cruise eased us into his body-reshaping program with easy-to-follow routines. I will not say that I transmogrified from a pasty, jello-filled blob into a bronzed, finely-sculpted Adonis overnight, but I did notice small improvements on an almost daily basis.

One day I woke up, looked in the mirror, and noticed that my upper arm flesh no longer pulled down on my shoulders like a soaking-wet, oversized wool sweater. On another day I stood up from a chair and no longer felt my once copious buttockal flesh still resting on the seat. But my greatest small achievement was the day my wife brought home guests and I did not feel the urge to eat any of them.

Success builds on itself, and my continuing success drove me to spend more and more hours into shaping my physique. An interesting side-effect to all my intense training has been the development of a very bad Austrian accent, and the compulsion to denigrate the manhood of others by threatening to take their flab and manipulate it in ways both comical and gruesome. Yah, ahnd den I tell people I am here to (clap), pump dem up.

Zo finally I vill tell all you girlymen out dere sitting on your girly-buttocks dhat you vill listen to me now ahnd hear me later - I ahm zo pumped dhat my muscles have muscles, ahnd doze muscles have muscles, ahnd doze muscles have muscles... I ahm pure muscle- I have no body, just muscle, ahnd all I do now iz pump and pump and pump... please kill me.

Summary: It cured a host of maladies!
Review: My new year's resolution was to eat healthy and exercise get rid of my excess 100 pounds. It was my goal every month to add something new to my program.

In January I started the DASH Diet & lost 13 lbs and 1 dress size.

For February I began "8 Minutes in the Morning" for my exercise program and on it I lost 7 pounds and 2 dress sizes!

I started out with a mat and chair and 3 sets of neoprene dumbells. (8, 10 & 12 lbs.) and woke up a little earlier to do the program.

I suppose it was from gripping the dumbells but within the first week my carpal tunnel was improved by 95% (No more numb arms amd fingers when I wake up every morning!)

I also have osteoarthritis in my right knee, or should I say had-- as my right knee no longer bothers me.

Also, I used to experience major stiffness in my legs if I sat for longer than 20 minutes. Standing up after a movie was a nightmare! This is no longer an issue.

It used to be a struggle to keep up with my taller friends walking by their side (I'm only 4'11"), but after 1 month on the program I can now keep up without getting out of breath or getting pain in my legs.

I am also able to open jars that I could not open before.

Being in my mid-30's the above symptoms were a major concern to me and I knew I should not feel this weak at my age. Thanks to Jorge's exercise program I was able to turn back the clock and be younger feeling stronger me.

I'm now in the second month of the program, and repeating the exercises this month with heavier weights.

Now I have built enough strength for the new activity I have added for March: Martial Arts Classes!! (no way I could have survived this class without having done a month of Jorge's program!)

Thanks Jorge!

Summary: 8 Minutes in the Morning
Review: This was a very easy read and I liked the fact that it is interactive. I would love if the daily food sheets were detachable like the travelers cards for the workout. It also gave new meaning to my morning first taking the time to think about my goal, focus on it and then get up and do the workout.

Summary: Weight and RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis)
Review: I have rheumatoid arthritis and knew I had to shed the 40+ pounds I have put on since quitting smoking. So, why couldn't I lose weight if I could quit smoking? 'Cause I didn't know the right way to do it. Want to know something? Jorge's plan not only works, but my RA is not so painful, even without my anti-inflammatories. They were eating my stomach up and leaving me hungry all the time. With this plan what I'm eating is making a BIG difference in how I feel. More energy! I want to exercise every day now!

Summary: Finally found something that's realistic
Review: After trying several other programs I believe that I have found something that will really work for you because it's all inclusive and very doable. It has everything you need to finally succeed! Give it a try--for your life!

Summary: Exercise portion is great, diet portion needs more details!
Review: The exercises are easy and fun. However, the diet has been very hard for me because the list of foods is so limited. For example, he lists how many carbohydrates boxes to check off if you're eating 10 french fries, however, nothing about what to check off for a baked potato.

Well, it's a good guideline anyways!

Summary: A program that finally worked for me!
Review: ./.. I am always on the lookout for things that will benefit busy diabetic moms. This book REALLY fits the bill. I had a baby almost two years ago, am nursing, taking insulin, and have a demanding toddler running around. These factors have caused me to have a lot of trouble losing weight. NOTHING seemed to work for me. This book was going to be my last resort. I have now completed one month on the program and have lost 9 pounds which is pretty much what was promised. The book asks you to lay out your goals - how much you will lose each week/month, and then what date you can expect to reach your final goal. That has been so helpful for me. It gives me short fast goals to reach as well as an ultimate long-term one.

The diet is simple, and based on the diabetic exchange diet. Some reviewers stated the amount of calories was too low, but there is a difference between how the food looks on paper versus on the plate. (Plus, to lose weight, you HAVE to expect to cut calories - I don't know of any other way to do it). I was surprised by how much food I could eat. Sometimes I never ate all the food I should have for the day because it was too much. The diet is also great because it's not a fad - it's the way you should eat normally. Also, because it's the exchange diet, you can eyeball your food when you are away from home. The only thing I didn't like, and this is just because of the diabetes, is that it listed only one snack for the day. Diabetics need to be eating every couple hours...so I just modified the plan to accomodate snacks between every meal, and an after-dinner snack. (It's pretty easy to modify the eating plan and to substitute an exercise I could not do with another I could)

The exercises are so quick and easy to do - even with children running around. I was able to fit in the exercises when I found I had a few minutes. You might not think it's possible to see changes with only eight minutes a day, six days a week, but it is. At the beginning of the program, I could not do push-ups at ALL. I substituted another exercise for that day. Now, I can do about half of the push ups - now that's progress for me!

Finally, no, the book does not have any new revelations or gimmicks. It's just straightforward diet, exercise, and motivational information packed into one portable book. I'm amazed at all the people who are seeking gimmicks here. You won't find them in this book. The thing that makes it "work" so well is the book layout. It's an easy, fast read, and information is simple to find. Important information is put into charts or stand-alone graphics. All your tools are located at the back of the book, and the exercises are labled, identified by day of program, and have dark edges so you can easily find that section in the book. There are small exercise cards in the back you can take with you when you travel.

There have been a few other reviewers who say the program is hard. I personally think it is very easy, and sometimes marvel that I am done with the day's exercises. Truthfully though, I was already familiar with the exchange diet, so maybe that may have made it easier for me...however, the exchange diet is all about portion/serving sizes, and that is something most people should learn about anyhow. If you do take the time to learn it, it will be something you can use for the rest of your life. Perhaps an additional purchase of an exchange diet booklet would help those who are not familiar with it. After you learn it, it's a no-brainer.
