Summary: This one works!
Review: The premise is simple: Exercise every day (6 days a week) for 8 minutes in the morning. The author goes into quite a bit in the book, but the important parts are his fabulous exercise plan and his plan to eat less.
Anyone can make time for 8 minutes worth of exercise each morning. In fact, you can't afford not to!
The other important part of the book, is the portion sizes of what you're eating. He gives you a system to monitor how much you eat.
This system has been working wonders for me. I am now in my third month of doing his exercises, and I have lost 24 pounds. I used to weigh 215 lbs, and now weigh 191! I haven't felt this good in years. I follow his exercise plan and eat less than I used to - It's that simple. I didn't even follow his specific recomendations for foods to eat, if I did I would probably lose even more weight...

I highly recomend this book to anyone who has struggled with weight loss and gain all their lives, like I have.

Summary: It does work
Review: At the end of my first week program, the scale read 200 lbs. so I have lost 2 lbs. which is wonderful. I am proud that I didn't skip even a day of Jorge's program. For the week 2 I will focus on the muscle and trying to do it slowly and pause for 1 second like the book said.

I will maintain and trying to do aerobic exercise the the author called PowerWalking along with the strength training program.

Overall, this program works for me.

Summary: All the tools you need for success.
Review: This book and Cruise's program are incredibly user friendly. The book tells you all you need to prepare for the program, and then guides you every step of the way. It includes informational and motivational segments for each day, along with space to write and track how things are going. There are short, effective exercises, or activities, that get you to tap into your own, true motivational sources for what you're about as a person and recognize how this program is helping you to better align with your life values and goals... without being sacchrin or preachy. The book and program provide structure, as well as amusement and support. There are "links" to online chats and a buddy network. I like that Jorge is so sure that I can do this. That makes me think that it is reasonable for me to take it on, and that I'll meet my weight loss goal so soon that I won't get discouraged.

Summary: great book, great program
Review: I've been on 8MM for two weeks and have lost 9.5 pounds. My energy level is through the roof. I'm not a "morning person" by any means, so I've been amazed to find the short session of morning exercise to be a great jump-start to my day. The program is so easy and rewarding, I know I will continue all the way to goal.

The book contains a great deal of valuable and helpful info, some of which was new to me -- a surprise to this veteran of the diet wars. Exercises are clearly described and illustrated. Different exercises are used each week for particular parts of the body, which helps prevent boredom. The participant is guided through the first four weeks of the program with daily instructional and motivational "wake-up talks". The author's enthusiasm for his subject is contagious, and his gift for motivation is clear.

Summary: 8 Minutes in the Morning.
Review: This is a great no nonsense weight loss book for people who don't have a lot of time to work out or plan their "diet" menu. For me, this book lays evrythnig out - a simple plan to follow and it works! I lost 7 pounds the first week! Jorge's book uses a common sense diet plan and the simple exercises are so easy to follow. The book acts like a journal, so you feel you're contributing to your wieght loss plan, and not just 'reading" about it. And you feel the results from working out right away. I used to work out 4 times a week until I had a back injury. Then, the weight just piled on. So far, Jorge's book has been the only diet and exercise plan I've tried that has shown results. I'm starting to get my energy back, and I actually look forward to excercising in the morning to get my day started. I'd receommend this book to anyone and everyone who is serious about losing weight, getting in shape and being healthy.

Review: This book has everything. A pep talk each morning. Two exercises to get you going. Information tidbits to add to your knowledge of eating, A place to journalize, access to on line help. I've tried a lot of things in my life to control my weight and this book has everything. Anyone can do this. My husband is 82 and doing this right along with me.

Summary: It Really Works!
Review: Today is the end of my 1st week on 8mm. It is the first weight loss program that I feel is working! I have so much energy and so much knowledge! The book is full of great health facts and most are things you would have never thought of! I have lost 4 pounds in my first week and plan to keep doing the "program" until I get to my goal weight. Take it from someone who has tried EVERYTHING! It really works!

Summary: I've lost 41 lbs with "8 Minutes in the Morning"...
Review: With Jorge's tried and true, easy to follow program, I've seen results in the scale every week. There is so many mis-information out there, and finally this book puts everything into perspective. With a vast history of many failed attempts to lose weight, the book has given me the neccesary tools, and the emotional advantage to put all the pieces together (motivation, information, exercise, and eating plan, including the right fats) and finally see a change on my body. The book is written in a very easy. lively, informative way. If you are looking for a book that will help you accomplish your weight loss goals, then "8 Minutes in the Morning" is the one for you.

Summary: Jorge's enthusiasm jumps through the pages!
Review: Jorge Cruise has developed a quick way to "jump-start" your morning. By performing only 8 minutes of strength training and following a simple diet Jorge says you can shape up! In fact on the cover of his book he guarantees weight loss in just 4 weeks.

I think the strength training aspect of his program is very good. The photographs are clear and the descriptions for the exercises are concise. Jorge leads you through 4 sets of 12 repetitions for 2 exercises, alternating them for greater effect.
There are a number of exercises including standing heel raises, kickups, knee pushups, and one arm curls.
Despite the short time period, I could feel a nice difference in my body in under a week. Though its easy to not exercise, its hard to make excuses when it's only 8 minutes! Great Concept!
It would be nice if Jorge had included modifications for those who had difficulty performing the exercises.

Jorge also includes a motivational thought for the day. Each day has a different idea to hopefully "kick" you into high gear. Ideas such as visualization, using light, rewards etc. Nothing new, but a nice addition to the book.

The diet is your standard low calorie type fare, with one addition. Jorge has you add one tsp. of flax oil (which you can also purchase from him) or olive oil to your meals to give you that feeling of satiation. I purchased Jorge's flax oil and indeed it does make you feel full..but I found the taste was very hard to get used to. Overall, I was disappointed in the diet. Jorge does not use the new information about how glycemic levels can be effected by certain foods and he suggests foods that easily turn to sugar in your body like bananas. He also suggests eating treats alone and that could trigger cravings in some folks if not paired with a protein.

Jorge says he has trained over 3 million people online in his book. So I was surprised when I visited his website that it seemed like it was still in it's infancy ie chat board just starting etc. I have been on a variety of fitness websites for over 5 years and have never heard of Jorge. I was also disappointed when he suggested on the board the if we needed motivation we buy a small outfit and try to diet to get in it.
Personally, I think we all need to feel good NOW about our bodies and try to make them better by buying clothes that fit and adjusting down when the time is right.

My thoughts are that he knows his exercise but put together a diet program by gathering information from others. I don't think his diet program is anything special or the answer folks have been looking for.

But the book is worth the price for the exercises alone. And Jorge is young and enthusiastic and his knowledge of nutrition will grow! Hopefully his next book will include the wonderful exercises and a better nutrition plan.

Summary: THIS WORKS!
Review: I started this program four weeks ago. I lost 12 pounds in the first 28 days, my clothes are looser, I feel better, my asthma is much better (using much less medication) and people are telling me I look like I am losing weight.

This is an easy-to-understand program which is clearly written about in the book. Doing the exercises first thing in the morning and taking the flaxseed oil at every meal are key. Another amazing thing about this is that I have pretty much lost my cravings and am so satisfied eating so much less. I have stopped obsessing about food and I feel so much more positive about my lfe.

God Bless Mr. Cruise for developing such a simple way to change one's life. The book is worth every penny.
