Rating: Summary: Finally something that works!!! Review: This is a great program expecially for busy moms. The program is laid out in easily to understand terms and the diagrams illistraight exactly how to perform the exercises. The eating program does not leave me hungry and adding snacks also takes away the cravings. I have and will continue to recommend this program to anyone who want to lose wwight or increase their overall health.
Rating: Summary: I resent it Review: Good luck to all those who are gleeful after a week or two on this plan, but they are hardly proof that something is useable in the long run. I tried eating according to the plan and I felt like I was starving! I do know the difference between hunger and the desire to overeat, and I was genuinely hungry. You can get used to fasting, too; just because the hunger pangs go away doesn't mean you arent'starving. I find the assertions that you won't be hungry, or that wanting to lose 20 pounds means that your health is at stake, are naive and condescending. It reminded me of the "success" I once had with a program that I used for 6 months. I thought I was happy with it, too, sure that I would never go back to my old ways. I did, and had "success" with another one, with the same result. I'm convinced that some people are able to convince themselves to semi-starve for periods of time: the lucky ones, maybe forever. I won't do it again. I know some of you will just think I am being a naysayer, but this is for all those people who think they are Pigs for being hungry for more than 1200 or 1400 calories a day. You aren't! Keep exercising and find an eating plan that works for you. I plan to. To those of you who are still doing well on the program a year from now, thank God and pray for the rest of us.
Rating: Summary: Wow what a program Review: I am not the kind of person to go on fad diets or write reviews for books aimlessly. My situation is somewhat unique as I not only need to loose weight but also suffer from myofacial pain syndrome. In the six weeks I have been on the 8 Minutes in the Morning Program, I have increased my exercise tolerance incredibly, I can't believe the increased energy I have and I'm loosing weight. The food plan is easy to follow and the bullet board support system helps keep you motivated and on track. I recommend it to anyone who needs to loose unwanted pounds.
Rating: Summary: Its so easy! Review: This program is so easy to use! I have never eaten so much food on a diet before! This book showed me how to diet. No fad diets, just plain good sense to eating a healthy, low-calorie diet. This book is the most important book in my library.
Rating: Summary: EIGHT MINUTES - BUT IT'S JUST THE BEGINNING Review: Eight minutes - now, that is something that really appeals to someone who lives in fast-paced work world. No more strenuous workouts or time consuming and expensive trips to the gym. What I like about the book is the total combination of exercise, nutrition and lifestyle changes. While you may be prepared to devote eight minutes each morning to getting back in shape, what really needs to take place is a permanent change in your routine if the weight is to come off and stay off. Eight minutes of exercise will definitely not help if you continue to eat burgers and fries for lunch and munch-out on half a cheesecake for a bedtime snack. So, if readers are misguided into thinking eight minutes of exercise is all it takes, they should take into consideration, the nutritional information and suggestions for long-term lifestyle changes that are also mentioned in the book. Overall, I really like the concepts presented here and the book is one worth reading.
Rating: Summary: Don't believe this person above who says their Metabolism is Review: Slow as a snail??Not hardly! Did you know that the average metabolic slowdown for a person who is PROVEN TO HAVE A DISADVANTAGED METABOLISM is only 34 calories a day less than a person with a "Normal" metabolism? SCIENTIFIC FACT! Sorry people, but it's not your metabolism, its your Fork!! Strength training DOES Burn more fat during a 24 hour period than Cardio does. BUT BOTH are important and this book stresses that. As far as the person who critisized the flax seed oil for adding calories,..well if you are watching your over all caloric intake and not eating like a pig..then the flax seed oil should be included into your daily allowance! This book and this concept is not NEW..but it is proven to work and Scientifically sound. Loosing body fat is a science, not a magical process. Get smart, Get Balanced, Get off this "No Carb Kick" and Get Real!! I have tried Atkins, Sugar Busters, The Zone, Weight Watchers and a few more strange diets. But it was a plan just like the one in this book that took my Body Fat from 30% to 20% in 8 weeks and I am still improving!
Rating: Summary: Somewhat Disappointing Review: I was very excited when I read the excerpts from this book. I was really looking forward to trying it out and seeing the results. While what Jorge writes makes a lot of sense and the exercises were very easy to do, I found the diet incredibly tough to stick to. Maybe it's just me, but I had a tough time eating the food that was on the menus. I was miserable by the end of the first week. I liked that you could mix and match the "kick-off week" menus - the meals were filling, but they just seemed bland. I was rather let down, but I'm going to give it another try and see if it's better the second time around.
Rating: Summary: this book works for me Review: Week 1 results using this book: I lost 6 pounds and 5.5 inches. I am currently on my second week now. I love the exercises and the book teaches you to eat a balanced diet. You will never starve on this diet. Good Luck.
Rating: Summary: At Last, a Program that works! Review: For 10 years now I have been steadily gaining weight. When I recently did a reality check and realized I was carrying an extra 20 pounds, I started searching for help. I found it in Jorge Cruise's 8 Minutes in the Morning. The text is straight-forward and thorough, covering the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of getting into shape. Jorge gives you the information, encourgement, and tools to reach and maintain your weight-loss goals. After completing the 1st week of the program my energy level is up. I feel good about myself, for I've finally taken control of my diet and exercise. On the "Quick Start" I lost 3 pounds in week 1. First thing each morning I open the book, read my "Wake-up Talk", do my 2 exercises,& prepare my breakfast and lunch (for later at work) according to my eating plan. I find what works best for me is having all my meals planned for the week, so I won't mindlessly start 'frig grazin'. The eating plan keeps me in line. And best of all, Jorge's approach is not a 'yo-yo diet', but a system one can use to support a life-style change for better health, a stronger, slimmer body, and nutritionally sound eating program.
Rating: Summary: Good Nutritional Advice But Too Many Carbs! Review: Like many of you, I've tried Atkins and Weight Watchers, among others. And I suspect, like many of you, I have the metabolism of a snail. It therefore takes more than 8 minutes to "rev it up" into a weight-loss mode. The good news is that Cruise offers positive motivation (something so many programs lack), good "sound" nutritional advice, and the exercises he recommends are fairly easy, even for beginners. The bad news is, most of the food and recipes are absolutely awful! But in addition, there were too many carbs on this diet for the average person to lose weight! Not only was I doing 8 minutes daily (which, by the way, is a misnomer, because when you add the warmup and cooldown, you can't possibly do them in less than 15), I was also walking and doing other exercises (like aerobics) 2-3 times per week while following the plan religiously. How do I know it wasn't just my metabolism or a medical problem? Because after leaving his plan I switched to Weight Watchers and saw an almost immediate improvement. The Flax Seed Oil he touts does help fill you up, but also adds extra calories that I don't think I needed. Bottom line: Stick to the "tried-and-true" methods that have worked for you in the past, keep exercising, and don't get discouraged!
