Rating: Summary: Success with 8 Minutes in the Morning Review: This is the book I've been waiting for. Not only do you get a book but the author replies to you and there directs you with suggestions. It is very simple and also inspirational. I feel as if I can really lose the weight. It's like having your own personal coach just like the celebreties. So if you think you can't afford your own personal coach, read this book. Go to the buddy website and find other success stories from people struggling with their weight just like you. Whether is 15 or 150 pounds you want to lose, read this book. It will change your life. Happy in San Diego County
Rating: Summary: This book is for everyone Review: I bought Jorge's book back in February and for the first time in my life (after trying many forms of aerobic and fad diets) I have lost 30lbs and still losing. The book clearly outlines the plan, the motivation is wonderful, and Jorge lays down everything (physical- mental - etc.) that you need to succeed. If you think 8 minutes can't change your life, try this - go in baby steps if you need to, one aspect of the program at a time. You will be delighted at the healthy changes in your life - Jorge really does understand, what other man would actually write about aerobics being initially uncomfortable because of chafing thighs! :-) If you have a little to lose, a lot, or if you just want to be healthier, 8 Minutes in the Morning is for you.
Rating: Summary: LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!!!!!! Review: I use this wonderful tool as a resource every day. Thanks to Jorge's simple, easy-to-do program and the help of his online community, I have already lost 17 pounds and am on my way to losing even more! This book and program are not about overnight weight loss. It's about getting healthy... losing weight is just an incredibly attractive & wonderful side effect! I'm finding more energy, enthusiasm, zest for life, happiness, and confidence. Don't just read it--live it!
Rating: Summary: Exercise good, nutrition so-so Review: I purchased this book for a guide to strength training at home, and for that it is excellent. I am really enjoying my eight minutes. It's nice that the author doesn't overtrain muscles day after day with the same routine. Okay, that said, the nutrition is only so-so. Parts of it are great. The eating cards are easy to use, and the calorie levels are appropriate (based on current size and gender). However, some of the nutrition info in the back is wrong. The dairy section and the treats section are messed up, pretty badly. I have a degree in dietetics, so I know what I'm talking about. Servings in dairy range from 1 T. of parmesan, at 23 calories, to 1 oz. of cheddar at 114 calories. They are both listed as 90 calories. The treats section is supposed to list foods that are 30 cals. In reality, they go from 10 cals. up to 90 before he adds other exchanges (like carbs or fats). It's not a bad system, but I recommend getting a decent nutrition guide to help you follow it. The industry standard for dietitians is Bowes & Church's Food Values of Portions Commonly Used by Jean A. T., Ph.D. Pennington, Anna De Planter Bowes, Helen n Church. It has values for everything, and even lists name brands. Also, for anyone who has never tried it, flax oil is absolutely vile.
Rating: Summary: SMART TALK Review: I think this book is the 100% place to start a program. Clear advice. Smart portion control guide line. Flax oil is the 100% way to help control appetite. Exercise outline is wonderfully short and yet gets the job done. One issue, as you advance, you would loggically need more food. But what a great book. Great site and WONDERFUL MESS. BOARD ON MSN. UNREAL PEOPLE WHO HAVE LOST 50 LBS AT A TIME. cuban chick from NYC
Rating: Summary: 8 Minutes in the Morning Review: 8 Minutes in the Morning by Jorge Cruise has to be the best diet book that I have ever read. It contains all the components necessary for success. No one has an excuse to fail on this one! This is an interactive book, complete with morning pep talks, inspirational quotes, along with space for daily journaling and self-evaluation. The meal plan is simple to follow and adaptive to anyone's personal taste and schedule. The best thing yet is that the exercises can truly be accomplished in 8 painless minutes! Anyone can do this and Jorge is with you every step of the way. Who needs a personal trainer or a gym? It's all in the book. I lost 10 pounds in the first week. Need I say more?
Rating: Summary: give it a chance Review: Ofcourse it takes more than just a diet and 8 minutes of exercise! But I think if you finish reading the book and listen to what is being said you will realize he does suggest a little more. This is a great way to jump start a weightloss program. I start my day at 4:00 am, spend 10-12 hours at work and gathering kids, then make dinner and the ususal evening routines. I think starting with 8 minutes a day and a guide to a healthy diet is a good start. I know that within in few weeks I will be more energetic and wanting to do more things. Great time of the year to ride bikes with the kids, rollarblade, etc. I dont think you heard him say do not do more than 8 minutes. Give it a shot!
Rating: Summary: It appears to be ok.... Review: I just ordered the book online, but I have been in the book store, looked through the book and liked the exercise portion. I've lost 40 pounds since Aug 2001 just eating right, but I also exercise DAILY (Mon - Sat). For me, trying to get strength training in is a challenge, so to devote 8 minutes each morning to it is really a great way for me to get it in. I've been doing the exercises this week that he recommends for each day, but I need the book so that I can alternate the types of exercises i'm doing each week. I think it's a great book for someone who is new to dieting and new to exercising. Focus on eating right and trying to move more...you'll feel better about yourself.
Rating: Summary: 8 MINUTES IN THE MORNING Review: I SEEN THIS GUY ON ONE MORNING, WHILE WATCHING THE NEWS. HE TALKED ABOUT WORKING OUT AND ONLY USING 8 MIN. OF TIME. I SAID YEAH RIGHT!. SO I PULLED IT UP ON LINE READ A FEW PAGES AND THEN ORDERED THE BOOK. SEE ABOUT A YEAR AGO I, ON MY OWN. LOST 71LBS. BUT BECAUSE MY HUSBAND HARDLEY GAINS ANYTHING, HE TENDS TO SNACK.SO LATELY I FOUND MYSELF EATING WITH HIM AND STAYING UP LATER SO WE GET TIME TOGETHER. BUT I PICKED UP 18LBS THAT I LOST. SO I FIGURED WHY NOT TRY SOMETHING NEW. SO I ORDERED THE BOOK AND STARTED READING THE SAME DAY I GOT IT. IT SAYS START ON MON. BUT I COULDN'T WAIT. I HATE TO READ, BUT IT WAS SO MUCH GOOD INFO. I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. I STARTED MY PROGRAM ON SUN THE 21ST OF APRIL. AND HAVE ALREADY LOST 5.5LBS. I AM EATING EVERYTHING 1400 CAL. A DAY. I DO TAKE THE FLAX OIL HE SUGGEST. I DON'T FEEL HUNGRY AND I'M SATISFIED. I FEEL GOOD AGAIN. I EVEN TOOK THE CHALLENGE AND WRITE MY EXERCISE DOWN AND WRITE IN MY DIARY EVERY DAY. 3 THUMBS UP. CAN'T HURT TO TRY.
Rating: Summary: 8 minutes in the morning--dieting all day Review: The book is a very quick read, and very exciting. But don't be deceived. The weight you lose will most likely not come from the workouts (8 minutes should tell you something), but mostly from the dieting. My favorite part is the Quick Start week. He tells you you can lose weight without going without the treats you love. In the Quick start week you get two treats everyday: one cup of air popped pop corn and one marshmallow! Wow! That's a total of 45 calories! Come on. If you can't have snacks on this diet, then he should just say so. If you have 2 cups of popcorn and 3 marshmallows, are you supposed to feel guilty? It's better than a pint of Ben n' Jerry's, isn't it? I got this book hoping to fit some effective exercise into my busy schedule. Having never dieted before, I suppose I got a little shocked when I saw the diet. If you buy this, just be remember you're really buying a diet book, not a workout book. You may do situps for 8 minutes in the morning, but you will be dieting the rest of the day.
