Rating: Summary: Lets all hold hands and sing Kumbaya.... Review: The only words that I can bring to mind are sappy and cutesy, but certainly not worth the cost. There is a place in the world for those that think "everything is beautiful", but this book goes way beyond that. A quote will explain my thoughts, "I send you...A scoop of stars and a cloak of patience. Your cloak of patience is lightweight and invisible to anyone else. It folds up to the size of a penny." Great stuff if you are speaking to the kindergarten class in San Francisco, which is where this would fly. Spend your money on things that have factual, useful and relevent information. This should be listed in the childrens section, their its cutesy drawings and sugery quotes would make sense. In the adult world it is sad. If you are into a childish (not child like) outlook on your growth and your future this is the book for you.
Rating: Summary: SARK has lost her touch Review: This book is all filler. It doesn't have one new idea. In fact, it is actually boring. She needs to step aside and stop hogging the limelight; her time has obviously passed.
Rating: Summary: Not SARK anymore. Review: This book reads more like An Artist's way and not an original sark book. she fails to bring herself and new ideas in this book; telling the same stories she's used in previous books. This time, she shouldn't boast about a book a year because she needs a break - this book ain't her, it's what she thinks will sell. That artist we fell in-love with is gone and replaced by ideas of others and formed badly. She uses new vocabulary that isn't her but that of her friends and mentors. Is this book original? Nope. Is it authentic? Nope. And the layout is so haphazard that it's often hard to follow. She's trying too hard and it shows. She should do more living, less writing and less trying to be someone else. Some of her phrases and ideas are just so obviously taken from others that it doesn't work. Her originality and playfulness has given way to marketing and holding on to what she was. If you liked her first few books, you'll be disapointed in this.
Rating: Summary: Your Dreams need You to Make Them Real Review: This is a good book, and everyone should read it. SARK is one of the few favourite writers of mine. I think she makes it easy for everyone to feel good and smile.
SARK books usually are all hand written and colored, this one is part handwritten and pictured and part typed. It makes the materials more abundance that previous books ( at least 3 times as much ), and still give you a genuine "taste of SARK".
For those who have never read SARK (the CEO, executives, management people, etc), try to dive into a different type of book, go read SARK, it is a different type of "self help" book (labelling is such a pain, what is self help? aren't all book self help?).
The book is about DREAMS, and DREAMS PERSUANCE. as one quote in the book said: "HOLD FAST TO DREAMS, FOR IF DREAMS DIE, LIFE IS A BROKEN-WINGED BIRD THAT CAN NOT FLY" (Langston Hughes).
SARK inspire me to start drawing (what is a 44 years old CEO who have started so many new ventures want to do with Drawing?), her drawing is so simple (the feel is like "i can do that!") yet so vibrant and inspiring.
Caution: Not all part of the book will be in sync with your believe system and your way of seeing life. Then again, what kind of books can make you one hundred percent relevant? If you can take, read, apply some part of the books and see the world in a different light, then it will already be more that enough.
What stops you: get the book, find your dreams, and make them real. I hope i can induce you to try SARK for the first time and i believe you will find it worth reading.
one idea: give this book as a souvenir to a friend, it will be a gift well remembered.
