Summary: VERY UPLIFTING!
Review: What a great book for children and adults of all ages. Death is something that everyone is touched by sometime in there lives. This book helps with questions that we al have but most have not asked. I also recommend Angel Stacey Earth Angel to Guardian Angel/Daddy In Heaven, in dealing with a death of a parent.

Summary: Distant and Removed, Very Disappointing!
Review: The hype about this book is just that hype! There are better books available to discuss the loss of life but it seems when you are a famous person you can immediately rise to the top. I was truly disappointed in the story although the illustrations are very well done. I think the illustrator should receive the credit for any success this book attracts!

Summary: An absolute for children of all ages.
Review: This book was given to my family after the death of my 82 year old father and 10 year old niece (within three weeks of each other). It was truly a comfort for everyone--especially the brother of my niece. Maria Shriver should be commended on tackling a part of our lives that is difficult to deal with in such a sensitive manner. I wish I had had this book before my niece's death--I can only think that it may have provided comfort for her. I know it did for me. Thank you, Maria!

Summary: A great book with beautiful illustrations for children.
Review: I loved this book written by Maria Shriver. I think it deserves a Caldecot Award. The story was so well written and very easy to understand. It explained what happens after people die in a way that did not scare me. It's kind of sad but in the end makes you feel good.

Summary: Beautifully written and illustrated!!
Review: A warm, sensitve book on a subject many find difficult to handle. While the book was written with children in mind, it teaches them AND reminds adults that those we love are never really far away. A MUST for every family library!!

Summary: A book that has helped ease a very difficult time.
Review: A member of my family died recently. Since the death, I've been uncertain of just how to make sure my two small children understood what has happened. I read about the book in Good Housekeeping. It not only helped my children see death is something natural, it showed them that it's okay for adults to be upset about it. It also prompted them to ask their own questions about what happens when a family member dies .

Summary: This is one of the best children's books I've ever read!
Review: This children's book deftly and sensitively handles the very delicate subject of departed loved ones and the accompanying sorrow and sense of loss felt by family and friends. Shriver has created a wonderful tool to help parents gently teach their children about life cylces, and the illustrations beautifully compliment Shriver's eloquent message. --Joy in Dallas

Summary: A tender, beautiful book on a difficult subject
Review: Death eventually touches every family, and this treasure of a book-for people of all faiths-is a starting point for parents who must talk about this difficult topic with their children.

What should parents say when a loved one dies? How do they explain it while reassuring children? Heaven is a difficult subject that always comes up at tough times, and Maria Shriver has written a very special book precisely for these stressful moments. What's Heaven? is the story of Kate, a little girl whose great-grandma has just died. She seeks answers, and her mother helps her learn about Heaven. The many questions in this book-childlike and thought-provoking-are real, coming from Shriver's own children, nieces, and nephews when her grandmother Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy passed away. With loving, confident, and ultimately uplifting answers, Shriver taught her family, and will help to teach yours, how to come together, feel closer to one another, and experience peace.

Maria Shriver graduated from Georgetown University. She is the mother of four children, a wife, and an award-winning journalist for NBC News. She lives with her family in Santa Monica, California.

Sandra Speidel has won awards from both the San Francisco and New York Society of Illustrators for her lush, colorful pastels, which have adorned the pages of more than twelve children's books, including Coconut Kind of Day by Lynn Joseph and My Mama Sings by Jeanne Whitehouse Peterson. She lives with her daughter in Petaluma, California.

"The idea for What's Heaven? came out of a discussion I had with our oldest daughter, Katherine, when her great grandmother, Rose, died. She was six years old at the time. Most of the questions and answers are from her and from our daughter Christina, who was only five. This book is for them and their two little brothers, Patrick and Christopher, and for any other children who are facing a difficult time and looking for answers." -Maria Shriver

"What's Heaven? is a tender, thoughtful treatment of a very emotional and difficult subject." -Sally Lee, editor in chief, Parents
