Summary: One of the best books I have ever read!
Review: When I was in 4th grade about 11 yrs ago every Friday all 3 4th grade classes would gather in one classroom at the end of the day and watch a movie. One Friday we saw one called "Sarah & The Summer Swans" ( I didn't know it was a book then!) In the movie, Sarah is this average, awkward gal with a mouth full of braces. She thinks she is going to have a dull summer, but then her brother wanders off one night, and that was when one of the 4th grade teachers stopped the film and told us it was time to go home: we were out of time! I was in suspense, and disappointed that he didn't check out the film again so we could see the rest of it. Then 2 years later I was in the library at school and I was bored cause I knew my library really well and had read most of the fiction books, then I saw the book! I knew upon seeing the title and reading the summary that this was it! It was excellent!

Summary: The Summer of the Swans
Review: The Summer of the Swans is a great book about a handicap boy who loves swans. His sister would take him to the lake to see the swans. He and his sister live with their Aunt and their dog Boysie. His sister promises to take him to the lake one day but she forgot. During that night, he slips out the porch door and goes by himself to see the swans. When his Aunt wakes up that morning she finds out that he is missing. Everyone in the neghibor hood helps look for him. So read The Summer of the Swans by Betsy Byars to find out if the handicap boy will be found.

Summary: Ok, but not great
Review: This story was a very heartfelt one but way too predictable. Sometimes it rattled off and left me uninterested for queit a while. I think the author tried to make it a little depressing (which can add to a book) but it came off as boring instead. It's a short and easy read though so you might want to try it; I guess it just wasn't for me.

Review: When my teacher assigned this book to my class, I thought it would be boring and depressing. Boy was I wrong! It is the stoy of a teenage girl who learns more about herself and her feelings when her mentally ill brother wanders away one night. This book gave me so much to think about! It is a definite must-read!!!!!

Review: THIS WAS A GREAT BOOK FOR ALL AGES. I DIDN'T REALLY UNDERSTAND THE METAPHOR BETWEEN THE SWANS AND SARA BUT AFTER READING SOMEONES REVIEW I NOW UNDERSTAND THAT THE SWANS ARE SYMBOLIC OF THE GIRLS TRANSITION FROM AN UGLY DUCKLING TO A GRACEFUL YOUNG WOMEN. I ALSO LOVE HOW THE NOVEL TAUGHT YOU TO LOVE YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS AND TO ALWAYS TELL THEM THAT YOU LOVE THEM.

Summary: I enjoyed the book Summer of the Swans by Betsy Byars.
Review: It's a wonderful story about a girl named Sara and her mentality challenged brother, Charlie.Sara is having the most boring summer of her life so she decides to take Charlie to a lake where swans live. Charlie is enchanted by the gliding creatures.Later that night Charlie goes to see the swans and loses his way.Sara is terrifed about Charlie's disapperance and decides to search for him, but like everybody else has no luck. After reading this book I can see why it won the 1970 Newberry Award.
