Summary: a great investment
Review: a very well-written and comprehensive guide to "beauty" in all its subjective embodiments. I appreciated as a professional (mental health) and as a woman with "beauty issues" and think it is very funny and informative reading for girls and women alike. In particular I think this would be a great book to help teenagers with some very challenging topics and possibly help in the prevention of eating disorders, among other things.

Overall, it is a book that actually embraces the idea of beauty and tries to help show the various ways in which individual beauty may differ, while offering ways to take charge of your own beauty regimens and questions.

Summary: Excellent
Review: I absolutely LOVED this book. I teach body image and self esteem to teens and this book is one the "reference" books I use. I also send home a list of good books for both teens and their mothers to read. This book is at the top of the list. Kaz takes most of the popular myth about beauty and the industry and blows it away with fact and humor.

Summary: This is a guide for a better life
Review: I bought this book for a gift to my best girlfriend. I could not help but reading it first myself and from the beginnig I knew it was the right book for her. She is so concerned about her body and this book sure helped her. She know understands that she is what her mind is and no what her butt is! Great gift for girls that seem so woried about their bodies. This book is a guide for a new better life.

Summary: This book IS Real Gorgeous!
Review: I first borrowed this book from my counselor, who had it in her bookcase. After ONE night with it I ordered my own copy! I couldn't stop laughing! I recommend this book to all my friends who have self-image problems, and even those who don't. I think all women of all ages should read this book, even the young ones. Such open and honest discussion of body, health, and sex is wonderful and should be shared.

Summary: Real Gorgeous
Review: I give this book one star because there aren't any minus numbers. I ordered this book for my 14 year old daughter who has an eating disorder. It upset her badly. Her therapist told me to "send it back". There is nothing funny about an eating disorder.

Summary: Please buy this for every adolescent girl you know!
Review: I got _Real Gorgeous_ as a 17th birthday gift, which is about 5 years later than I wish I'd read it. Still, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It gives you a cute, funny, entertaining look at the media's idea of "beauty", ways to have a more positive body image, why diets don't work, etc. This is advice that could help save many adolescent girls from falling into the typical pattern of low self-esteem, crash dieting, and body hatred. Best of all, it's presented in a light-hearted, positive, friendly fashion that nearly any girl will enjoy. Please do the girls around you a favor and introduce them to this fun, positive, uplifting book (after reading & enjoying it yourself, of course)!

Summary: Delightful!
Review: I just finished this book and found it entertaining, relevant and fun. As someone who has struggled with a terrible body image since childhood, as well as eating disorders, I found it very positive and helpful. I'm sorry that the reviewer who gave the book to her 14-year-old was unhappy, but I found that the author did not make fun of eating disorders, just the culture that encourages and rewards them. The illustrations cracked me up as well. Nice to be reminded what "normal" really is!

Summary: On my way to body bliss!
Review: I just started reading Real Gorgeous, and I already can't wait to post my rave review -- it's THAT good! This book will have you loving your body, and laughing out loud in the process, in no time at all. I've painfully made my way through other "self-help" books, but this one really speaks to the reader. Take my word for it! As a typical woman with low self-esteem, this book has already got me thinking about things differently. I could end up loving my body after all, and you could, too! Get this book.
