Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Well worth reading Review: Although short, Soldier's Heart is definitely worth the hour or so it takes to read. It's a book that takes you in and holds your attention within the first page. The story is powerful and causes your heart to ache as you read on about a fictional and yet factual story on the Civil War. The emotion in this book is captivating and will make you want to read it again and again. And why not? I've read it four times already. An hour is a small price to pay to read such an awesome book.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Washington Middle School 8-111 Boys really liked this book. Review: Kenny, Shawn, Cody and Chris liked this book because it was very graphic, descriptive and gory in most stages of the book. It was also a good book to read as a historical fiction requirement for History class. The boys would recommend this book to other readers that like Gary Paulsen's books, especially those about survival. Cody would like to recommend this book to anyone unfamiliar with Paulsen because this book will make you a fan.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This book gave me the realization and awe of war! Review: This book was amazing. I have read 16 of Gary Paulsen's books and this is the best. By far! I wasa up many nights thinking how awful it was for Charlie Goddard, and many others, to go through what he did. I liked the book so much that I decided to do a speech on it for school. Soldier's Heart is a must-read!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The best read I've had in years! Review: I absolutely loved this book, I couldn't put it down from the very first word to the very last. It was really exciting yet unlike most exciting books it was also realistic. An absolute must for any teen wanting a good read.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Another gem in the collection of Gary Paulsen's works. Review: There are books that entertain and inform. There are those books that describe and relate. And then there is Soldier's Heart. It is a book that seizes your soul and touches it in a most profound manner. Paulsen takes you to the Civil War and gives you a tour through the eyes of a young innocent. There is no sparing of the brutality and horrors of war; there is no redemption in the sights the young man sees, nor is there peace. You share the sights, sounds and terror of the battlefields and cannot help but be touched by the devastating loss of life and innocence. A deceptively simple novel, it is written to shake any belief that one holds about the glory or honor of war. A brilliant and powerful book that should be read to and by students who believe they understand the concept of war.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: I read to my nieces and they listened in ahh. Review: I was turned onto this book in my US history class. My teacher read it to all of us during our civil war unit. It is one of the best books that Gary Paulson has written!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Everyone should read this book! Review: This book probably was the most detailed story of the civil war. I enjoyed this more than "Saving Private Ryan." I wish everyone read this book. It's a whole lot better than getting a history book and researching on the war! ( Don't forget to read the epilogue!)
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Read it for school & loved it Review: I read this book for English class to tie in with the Civil War unit. I ususaly don't like Paulsens books, but this one was INCREADABLE. This is a must read for anyone.
