Summary: A Military Perspective
Review: As a former member of the US Army's 1st Ranger Battalion (1st Special Operations), I found this book an excellent marriage of practical, yet advanced, grappling techniques. Specifically, this book provides the reader with a no nonsense approach to tangible fighting techniques in all situations (e.g., whether inside an alley or passenger plane). In sum, I highly recommend this fighting treatise -- a great work.

Summary: An essential primer on submission fighting!
Review: For those with an interest in the martial arts, Iverson's book is an excellent reference on offensive, no gi submission techniques. The text is extensively illustrated, with the moves simply and sequentially explained.

It has been said that when fighting, the best defense is a good offense. With practice, the reader will be able to apply the techniques Iverson demonstrates in this easy-to-use book to the maximum effect.

Summary: good book for very inexperienced beginners
Review: I felt that this book was a half way decent book. For one thing it will show very inexperienced beginners how to apply arm bars and chokes and various other techniques and also how to do it from many, many different angles & variations. One thing that I personally like to see in grappling books is the set up to the takedown, the physics of the takedown, and then the application of the grappling technique and how to increase the leverage, or generally improve the technique. This book has very basic takedowns (but sometimes the simplest way is the easiest)And the explanation of the physics of the hold are not the best I have ever seen. Also it does not show any clothing induced chokes, due to the fact that both combatants are in just shorts and shoes. All in all it is a great book for beginners to learn how to apply a hold and how to do it from many many many variations, and angles. But it has very little information on passing the gaurd, or drawing your opponent of his base.

Summary: it does what it says on the cover!
Review: I have had many grappling books in my time(Lebell,Gracies, etc) but i must say that this is among one of the best. The book is purely no-gi submission techniques and it can't be faulted for not being a complete book on fighting techniques. It does what it says on the cover. The book covers submissions from all the grappling positions-north/south, guard, mount, knee on stomach, standing etc, etc. at the start of each chapter it covers how to maintain that position. Then the rest of the chapter covers numerous effective moves to submit your opponent. This book is all meat and no fluff. The total number of pages without fighting techniques on them is about 5! If your like me you have been burned by buying crap books that are not what they claim to be. This book is not one of them. It is a good sized book and very reasonably priced. Even more advanced fighters could learn alot from this book. Having trained around the world i wish i would have had this book a while ago.

Summary: A let down.
Review: I was let down by this book. everyone on this site thought it was great. however i found that it lacked alot of detail needed for a submission, and there was nothing about seting up submissions in this book. this book does have alot of submissions but many of them would be shut down by somone with less then a year in the sport. for the price of this book you can get something better that will give you more insight into the game of submission fighting.

Summary: Submission Fighting Techniques
Review: If you are interested in submission fighting or jiu-jitsu, this is the book for you. This work is full of hundreds of detailed submission techniques which I have found to be innovative and effective. When I purchased this book I was expecting to get the same old fluff with little action. However, I was pleasantly surpised. There is little idle talk and almost the entire book consists of in your face techniques. I have learned a great deal from this book and think it is one of the better ones out there. If you are interested in this subject, get a copy and see for yourself.

Summary: Great Start.
Review: Most books are all hype. I have read several books that promised to teach you submission, yet droned on about this and that. This book delivers exactly what it says. There are not pages wasted on anything. ... This book delivers the highest quality of submision techniques I have seen in books yet. If you want a good book on practical offensive no gi submisions this is that book. This book is better than Gene Lebells, Robert Furgsons, and evens the Gracies books. With that aside you might want to pick up winning wrestling moves, and a book on grappling defense.

Review: This book had great information and went into detail about each technique. This is a good source of information for the person just starting to the intermediate level. I high recommend it.

Summary: it does what it says on the cover!
Review: This book is specificaly on no-gi submission moves. In that area, it is one of the better books out there, and a "must have" for anyone involved in submission grappling. The photos are pretty clear, and numbered in sequense so the reader can better understand what he's looking at. The author describes the moves from the possitions they are performed from (i.e., "Submissions from the Guard"). The moves shown have less variety than LeBell's "Grappling Encyclopedia", but as such is less overwhelming. Only problem, like LeBell's book, is that the reader isn't shown how to get into these possitions. And I'd prefere to see some reversals. Still, overall, an excellent book, and I'd recomend it to anyone who wants to learn non-gi submission holds.
