Summary: Nothing new here
Review: I have spent a couple of years being my own personal trainer, which required me to familiarize myself with equipment, training plans, and my own anatomy and physiology. Since I'm coming back from a lay-off period with an ultimate goal of doing a triathlon, I turned to this book hoping to find some unique information. What I found was, essentially, my old training routine! The basic weight training exercises I had always used for a full body workout was all this book contained. On a positive note, it is neatly presented in a compact form and has good suggestions for varying your routine, as well as endurance versus power building programs to establish your training base. There are lots of b&w images of all the exercises and a website link for accessing some nice training log charts. It's basic, sound advice without loads of text. I think it's a bit overpriced, not sure what makes it specific for triathlons (except that it's a commonsense total body plan), but it is a handy book if you need a primer to carry with you to the gym.

Summary: thanks
Review: I never thought I could or would run a triathlon, but this book really helped me train. It was a great guide and plan for the winter, and hopefully I'll be able to compete in the spring. Without this I'd be lost.

Summary: Helpful workout program
Review: The triathlon program was thorough and easy to follow. I started the program less than 2 weeks ago and I can already see results. Highly recommended.

Summary: looks good
Review: This book looks very good. Other books concentrate on total fitness for triathlon with only limited emphasis on weight training, while this book puts all of its emphasis on weight training and is the perfect supplement to any other triathlon book. The programs appear to be very easy to follow. I look forward to putting it to good use.

Summary: Nothing but cut and pasted old school exercises
Review: You might confuse this book for a '70s Joe Weider weight training manual. Apparently this company cranks out dozens of these "sport specific" books (lacross, hockey, etc) with no real knowledge into the actual sport. They must have a template doc which they do a search & replace from "hockey" to "triathlon". I can imagine a guy at a desk thinking - "hhmm, triathletes use their arms right?" and cut & pasting a couple of standard arm exercises in. Almost nothing about core, balance, or endurance. You'd be much better off with the exercises in Triathlete's Edge by Marc Evans.
