Rating: Summary: Too much info Review: From all the trees you won't be able to see the wood. It has a very intersting chapter on bodybuilding history though.
Rating: Summary: Wow! Review: GETTING STRONGER is the best weight training guide available! I am a 23-year-old female who just had a baby. I started the beginning bodybuilding workout, have been at it for a month and look great! I wish all women would try this, it's easy, fun and shows awesome results. Bill Pearl is also very knowledgeable about what to eat and how to keep your body from being overworked! It also has great workouts for all kinds of sports for men and women. Thanks Bill!-Candace
Rating: Summary: Just what I was lookng for!!! Review: I am an older individual & have been doing the "couch potato" thing for too long. I always had good luck with lifting weights when I was younger & fit. This book is a good source of info about all aspects of weight lifting from begineers to experianced. It covers everything from nutrition to techniques. It shows how to workout at home or in a gym & how to use free weights or machines. It even has a program for folks that are over 50 years of age. I think that I will do very good using the info that is contained in this book!
Rating: Summary: If you want to just do it, and do it right. Review: I have been out of weight training for some years now. Looking to get back into it, and into it right, I looked to the experts. This book was rated in the top 3 of all bodybuilding books available on the market. I bought it and have since begun an incredible re-entry into the sport. It is easy reading and to the point. It outlines great programs for all levels of fitness, all sports in which weight training is a necessary component of competitive performance, as well as just general health and well-being, delves into nutrition, support and encouragement. Well done Mr. Pearl.
Rating: Summary: Terrific Book Review: I have had this book for a few years now and I consider it my workout bible. It is full of great information for the beginner and the experienced.
Rating: Summary: The Best All-Around Book on Weight Training Review: I just bought a new gym and pulled my Getting Stronger paperback out of the attic. I kept this book because it is possibly the best all around reference on weight training I have ever read. This book has descriptions of weight training regimens for dozens of sports, general fitness, advanced bodybuilding, free weight Nautilus equipment and more. Includes sections on eating well, motivation, the anatomy of the muscle, and detailed descriptions of every exercise. Easily photocopied workouts are great for displaying in the home gym. As I read through the book again last night and was amazed on how thorough and easy-to-read this book is...it made me write my first Amazon.com review. I am glad to see the book is still in print.
Rating: Summary: New Edition due Review: I like the book but an updated edition would be nice
Rating: Summary: One of the Two Books you will ever need!!!! Review: I read nearly twenty fitness books before I bought this one. And then I bought another one to give as a gift. It is THE reference for building a fabulous body. He does not hawk products. He gives all of us the opportunity to re-vision and revise our existing selves in the patterns of gods. Get out your loin cloth and your laurel wreath; you will soon deserve it. Also, go to his website and download his free 20 month plan. The book tells you everything. The video shows everything and the information on his site - worth more than any time spent with a failed dancer turned personal trainer.
Rating: Summary: Great book for beginners too Review: I started using this book as an out of shape over 55 female. While I still don't look like the pictures on the cover, I've developed strength, flexibility and lost inches. The book provides enough information for a beginner to confidently develop a weight training program from first basic exercises. The instructions are clear enough to avoid injury and the simple sample programs are good starting points. The information on equipment is invaluable. It makes weight training accessible to anyone who can read. I think my husband for giving it to me.
