Summary: Life lessons for normal people
Review: The book was recommended by a friend (actually, I read it because of a gentleman's bet). I thought it was very well written and sincere. It addresses small issues that I didn't really concern myself with but once I got into them in the book I realized how they really did drag me down. It helped motivate me to be more creative, and I'm using the book as a step to persue a new job.

The conversational and anectdotal nature of the book is what kept me interested. I recommend it to others as well, even if you think you have no use for an inspirational book. I've never read anything by Alan Cohen before, but I recommend him now.

Summary: For Those Serious About Getting on With Their Lives¿
Review: The first time a friend handed me Alan's book, Why Your Life Sucks and What You Can Do About It, I handed it straight back to her and said, "what a horrid title. I can't read this. And besides, my life doesn't suck." A year later the book was handed to me again and I realized if a book found me twice then maybe I should take note.

I flipped open to page 4 and there at the top of the page was my life - "When you have a crush on someone, you will be crushed." Oh my god I gasped, how did he know. I was at that moment involved in yet another crush and Alan's words gave me the opportunity to look at my life and situations I had created in the past and was still creating in a new light. I could now admit that, yes indeed, my life does suck (in some instances) and I had to do something about it. I let go of the crush.

Now I give Alan's book to friends, with a little post-it note over the word "sucks" saying, "don't let the title get in your way." This book is a must read for those who are serious about getting on with their lives.

Summary: Why This Book Sucks
Review: The main reason why this book sucks is that there is no new information here. The author paints life as simple, almost a paint-by-the-numbers game where people fill in the blanks of life by thinking about the many slogans in the book. This is simply more new-age hogwash that helps no one except the author, who wants to sell lots of books.

Summary: The Plain Truth
Review: The only reason why someone would not like this book is because it made him/her look too closely at a life that may not be working as well as hoped for. Witnessing yourself is a hard thing to do. And - this book gives you practical suggestions on how to change those things that don't work- but only if you really want to change, of course.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: The premise of the book is that we all have a life that sucks is really over thee top. I suppose when you are an author your life is swell, especially if you want to sell books. Hahahha It amazes me that cut-you-down and build-you-up books like this even get published any more. I had hoped for an entertaining read, but instead I got something banal. Sad writing for a sorry idea!

Summary: Useful but not spectacular
Review: There are lots of good piece of wisdom in Alan Cohen's book Why your Life Sucks? The author gives us ten reason's and then explains how each one undermines us. Some parts of the book are a little hokey and new agey, but overall a worthwile read.

Summary: Insulting
Review: This book is for morons. It is a real reductionistic approach to life. If I were the author, I'd be ashamed of myself and my lack of integrity at writing such a shallow simplistic point of view about life.

Summary: "Must Read", if you DO want more joy in your life !!
Review: This book not only led me to a deeper understanding what I can do to create more joy and happiness in my life, but also gave me courage to take some important steps to make that happen. Well, I have to admit that some lines were hard to accept because of my ego and fear, I guess. But somewhere deep down in myself, I knew what Alan had to say was true. This book made me realize that I AM THE CREATOR of my life. Thank you, Alan, for your wisdom and encouragement !!

P.S. After "W.Y.L.S.", I read 2 of Alan's other books, "I Had It All the Time" and "Hande With Prayer." These are also "Must Read"items. They can change your life. They changed mine !!

Summary: Uplifting, upbeat and fun to read
Review: This book was fun to read, because the author challenges you to check out and heal the reasons some or part of your life may suck, but does it in such a lighthearted, loving way. I wish more self-help books were fun to read like this one, instead of making the path to a better life seem like such a grim, serious job. My advice to both authors and readers of self imrovement books after reading this one is to lighten up!

Summary: How to live so "your life will shine"
Review: This is a guidebook jam-packed with powerful (and practical) tips on how to live so "your life will shine." It's an easy read; the author's style is, as usual, wonderfully down-to-earth and witty. In this book, as in previous ones, Cohen demonstrates his remarkable ability to speak directly to heart and soul as well as to mind.
