Rating: Summary: Mixed feelings... Review: I did not get through this book. Perhaps it was because it was so strongly recommended to me by a friend and my head wasn't ready for it. I know that Jin Shen brings up stuff and obviously this did. I think I was intimidated about how to begin work on myself. I don't think my review should have a lot of relevance to stop you from getting it. I am saving the book for a future look at it...when I have more courage to do the deep inner work. I am a clairvoyant and tend to do things more mystically and etherically...the body is my place of difficulty....if you can understand this orientation..its my challenge to reconnect to my body....The friend who recommended this is now a practicing professional...she obviously loves it and is a fabulous practitioner...she worked on me and it was wonderful.

Rating: Summary: An Alternative to painful and many times useless therapy Review: I found Mary Burmeister's teachings of Jin Shin enlightening. The books can teach you easy pratical holds that you can do on yourself to reduce tension, stress and other problems. The simple holds I performed on myselft were so effective that I sought out a practisioner of Jin Shin who has been so effective in helping me with back pain from a long ago accident to the point I have been able to return to work
Rating: Summary: The Healing is Within Your Hands Review: I had been bed-bound for a year, when I bought this book. It is laid out in a logical way, with clear instructions and pictures. When I needed to do a sequence I drew stick figures using red circles for right and green for left pressure points on recipe cards. It was easier to follow than the written step-by-step on a day to day basis. You can look up what to do by your symptoms OR by the type of emotional stress you've been thru - we are MIND+BODY+SPIRIT=all intertwined. Doing Jin Shin got me out of bed, and is balancing my body and mind! My last blood test was so balanced it was incredible/unbelievable. This book gives you what you need to heal/balance your body: addictions, cravings, pains, all manner of physical problems, headaches, itchy places, too hot, too cold, chronic fatigue, heart problems, lung problems, you name it, there is something you can do about it!
Rating: Summary: Excellent presentation of a complex art Review: In seeking supplemental therapy for my infant son, I came across Jin Shin Jyutsu. This volume presents so much valuable info that it makes your head swim. Mary Burmeister is quoted in the book as saying " If you are confused, then you are beginning to understand." Simple finger holds and energy release points are shown. Many examples of uses for the therapy are included. My son has cerebral palsy and a seizure disorder. One of the signs of an approaching seizure is flushed cheeks. Both my wife and I applied a simple hold on his index finger, and the flushed color left his cheeks, and he avoided a seizure. If this is the only result from this book, it is worth 10 times the cost.
Rating: Summary: Comprehensive & Powerful healing technique Review: Jin Shin Jyutsu is an ancient Japanese healing art, which can be used from birth to old age. This book shows you how to utilize your fingers and hands to balance out daily stress and deal with more chronic health issues as well. Whether you are coping with aches and pains, or need to calm down mentally & emotionally, this method is simple to use at home or elsewhere. It is also a practical way to take responsiblity for your health, without the use of drugs, to reduce pain or other problems. Use the points for specific illnesses, whether acute or chronic. It is helpful for everything from basic first aid to colds, & sinus problems, to headaches, back pain, and speeding up the healing of sprains, strains, and bone fractures. This method is being used in hospitals all over the world to help with cancer to cardiac patients with excellant results.
As a professional massage therapist & practitioner of Jin Shin Jyutsu, I have recommended this book to many clients who have found this technique to help themselves, their families, and even their pets ! I've used it regularly on my own family & friends for everything from stopping the bleeding of a severe
laceration, which nothing else would stop, to helping clear a
4 year old of chronic asthma attacks.
So whether it is the middle of night, and your little one has a painful earache, or an upset tummy, give Jin Shin Jyutsu a try, it really works miracles ! It is even simple enough to show young children to use for helping themselves with feelings of sadness & anxiety so they can feel more impowered at school or anywhere else !

Rating: Summary: Easiest self help ever! Review: My first experience using this book for self help was when I was feeling so nauseated and wiped out during menses that I could hardly walk across the room. I lay in bed with a hot water bottle and started doing the Main Central and Supervisor/Mediator - the Trinity flows (pages 45-54). An hour or so later I got up and felt absolutely fine! I thought - this is magic! To think I could just feel better by placing my hands on different locations of my body and holding them there, that I would harmonize my body and feel better - no effort, no machines, nothing extra, just me and this little book. Truly portable! I have since used this regularly for long distance highway driving, just doing it at a rest stop to re-energize me. Also in the book are general daily sequences (page 133) I have done while doing my laundry in the laundromat - "doing these in succession is an especially good way to deal with almost all of the various stresses we regularly confront in modern life." I have to agree. There is so much useful information in the book it seems overwhelming at first, but as I have explored it little by little, it always amazes me that even when I do it when I feel good, I feel even better! And when I have been feeling awful, that it helps so much! There is even a quickie "first aid" listing in the back of the book.. I used the left hand over right hand to keep a toenail on that I had mashed into some furniture.. also I find when I really would like to feel better, I just hold my fingers. The thing that is so wonderful about this book is this is a gold mine of information about self help that you can do anywhere, at meetings, waiting for the bus, in bed, anywhere. This self help will aid anyone anywhere, whether they are sick or healthy or somewhere in between. I went on to take the five day basic class in Jin Shin Jyutsu (info on this is also in the book)yet I still refer back to this book as it is a great learning tool. There are great little stories in here too to help you remember what's what. Try it. It's the best thing you could possibly buy to enrich your health and your life (and everyone's around you too!)

Rating: Summary: Self Healing with Jin Shin Jyutsu Review: Touch of Healing is wonderful guide to using Jin Shin Jyutsu on oneself or on others. While some of the concepts are difficult, the applications are direct and quite effective. I've worked with accupressure for years but it took a wonderful masseuse/healer to introduce me to Jin Shin. Her work on me fixed physical problems I had suffered for years. She told me about Touch of Healing and I've been using it to good effect for a year now. Well worth the money if you're attracted to the amazing powers of accupuncture or accupressure. My experience has been that I can relieve symptoms with accupressure but with Jin Shin, I can resolve the problem and make it go away.
