Summary: validation of intuitive healing from an rn
Review: I have been a rn for 25 years,I have gone back to school for my phd in education and counseling. Dr. Orloff's book is in my opinion one of the closest I can come to putting into words what I have always know and practiced in medicine. As a matter of fact Dr.'s what to know how I know what I know before they do. It drives them crazy. Only once did I try to get someone to listen to my medical intuition and I failed. I left medicine after that. She has helped me to validate myself as a medical intuitive.I want to read second sight because I have been told that it is very good. I read her book at night like I do a textbook and pratice what she has taught in it. I wish she could go more into the how. Yet, I already know how its just that it is hard to accept sometimes especially when you are dealing with people that are so concrete. Best of luck. Mary

Summary: Dr. Judith Orloff's Guide to Intuitive Healing
Review: This is a wonderful book that offers a deeper and more expansive in-depth understanding to the working dynamics to furthering the healing gifts that one's intuition has to offer the self. It is gracefully written with a precision for detailing the finite aspects to capturing the voice of intuition in all the variations intuition speaks. I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking a deeper perspective on the subject. I also recommend Second Sight as a trusty companion to this book as well.

Summary: THE INTERCONNECTION OF MIND, BODY AND HEALTH!
Review: I liked the point of view taken by Dr. Orloff throughout the pages of this book. As one who has studied psychology, the interconnection between mind, body and health is clear. Much of our physical well being is contingent upon our mental outlook. Minor ailments and discomforts can escalate to the point where they appear to be fatalistic, life-threatening illnesses if we become so self-absorbed in each and every health problem that we convince ourselves our problems are growing more acute. What follows can result in loss of sleep and appetite, depression, anxiety and panic attacks, muscle tension and a host of other aches and pains. That is not to say, we have the power to cure every medical illness - certainly not; regular medical checkups by competent, qualified medical practitioners are vitally important. However, many of our minor aches and pains are not life threatening and, as the author clearly points out, each of us has the power to heal ourself of these minor discomforts before they escalate take control our life.

As the author reveals, we have the power to heal our body, emotions, sexuality and spirituality. Much of the healing power begins with a positive attitude, making use of our energy sources and being in tune with the messages our body is giving to us. From dead-end relationships to an over-active imagination that allows us to fear the worst about our health, the author covers a variety of topics in this book; it is a book well worth reading.

Summary: A must read for personal & spiritual growth
Review: Dr. Orloff's Intuitive Healing is a tremendous gift to those of us who are committed to personal and spiritual growth. From the first chapter, I was draw in and gained a sense of trust as Judith eloquently shared herself and her work revealing her vulnerability, compassion, and passion for intuitive healing. I found Intuitive Healing to be an in-depth, informative, and inspirational guide assisting me to open up more fully to the gifts my intuitive self has to offer. Before reading this book, I was already living quite fully each day from my intuitive self, yet this book offered several innovative paradigms that assisted me in expanding my capabilities and receive intuitive guidance in ways I wasn't aware of. One of these suggestions included the use of remote viewing for gaining information and insights about people, places and situations. Extremely helpful. Additionally, I became more attuned to paying attention to my body and the signals it sends me. Also, I was fortunate enough to attend one of Judith's workshops which unlocked the mystery behind my blocked dream state. Now I am enthusiastically following her instructions to receive guidance from my dreams. It is my experience that Judith's work, both in her books and workshops, helps one to deeply enrich their lives by opening up to the fullness of who we are and the intuitive gifts we were given at birth.

Summary: Improved My Quality of Life
Review: Dr. Orloff's book came to me at the perfect time in my life.I was falling apart, I had no self-esteem, I was sucidal, I hated my job and my life. After reading this work and working on applying the principles in this book, working through the chroka's of my body I am now one day at a time, becoming the person I want to be. I am positive, healthy and enjoy my new job. I have returned to school and workout every day. I have done as Dr. Orloff suggested, by learing (still learning) all of the parts of my body (muslcle, bones, etc) and functions of the various systems in my body. I am in touch with myself more than I have ever been. I thank Dr. Orloff for writing such a wonderful book that is written on a level we all can understand. In addition I have started studying the teaching of the Dali Lama, since reading this book.

Summary: Living Intuition
Review: I've been reading William Blake. He says we have four helpers, or call themn abilities, capacities, for building the magnificent communal soul he calls Jerusalem. Urizen is analytic power, reason. Luvah is love, all the different ways of feeling we have. Tharmas is Blake's name for what comes and goes through the senses, the palpable, tactile, tasty knowing. Urthona is the most complex, the imaginative, intuitive faculty. Judith Orloff's book celebrates that power of understanding and making and its spontaneous dance within out daily, and especially our dream, lives as well and truly as anything I've read. She lives within its mystery and speaks from within its healing and sustaining and joyous wisdom. William Blake felt it was necessary to coin a new word (Urthona) for inutition to help us see freshly what it is. Dr. Judith Orloff has found her own new words for this most wondrous area, power, friend of soulmaking, our luminously imaginative intuition. Get this book and travel with it! Coleman Barks

Summary: Another touchy feely book
Review: Under 400 pages and laid out in three sections. Has some good points but is just another touchy feely book lacking in much "Oh grow up" thinking. What our Grandmothers and Mothers called common sense is now given a catchy label called "Intuitive".

PartOne:The Body which talks about what she thinks intuitive healing is and ones visions of health and prevention, sacred healing partnerships and if illness comes how you can use this so called intuition to heal yourself and death as a healer and teacher. The later seems to ignore the prior part about how you can use intuition to heal yourself.

Part Two: Emotions and Relationships deal with the Emotional path of the warrior, centering and protection, finding light in darkness, honouring relationships and Final good-bye.

Part Three: Sexual Wellness is about her views on Passionate sex, deep spirit, Awakening Sexual power, A return to beginnings and Sexual energy's healing gift.

Now while I agree with her beginning statements that "We are the keepers of our own healing" I also think that I may simply be suffering from new age double speak, and books that take chapters to say what could be said in a few pages. Whatever happened to common sense? Of simply teaching people to be honest about both what they want and knocking down and out the pity party mindset that has overtaken the American society from books to ...?

Whatever happened to telling women that NO you cannot have it all and that we have it much better than our ancestors. Whatever happened to simply telling people to stop eating junk food, and telling them in a one page essay that sleep, physical activity, healthy food are the three keys to total health?

My generation the Boomers, is such a weak bunch of naysayers and whiners. What we need is good old common sense and the "Oh grow up" mantra! No, the constant touchy feely stuff that even for me has finally hit its peak. It is like overdosing on sugar.

Anyone facing mental or physical problems will find her exercises a blessing as to apply them as a back up to the many forms of traditional treatment. Summary: Courageous and Compassionate
Review: Dr. Judith Orloff's GUIDE TO INTUITIVE HEALING is truly a gift to the world. I recommend that everyone take the time to read this book. She has taken a huge risk in writing about her intuitive gifts. But, even more she is trying to teach all of us practical ways to tap into our intuition on a daily basis. That we all have the answers to difficult questions inside of us, if we take the time to listen to our inner voices. I have come to realize that we don't learn to do this overnight. It is a gradual thing that takes a great deal of practice. I had the privilege attending Dr. Orloff's workshop at the Kripalu Yoga Center in Lenox, Massachusetts. It was an amazing experience! I left the workshop with more than I could have ever imagined. I believe this book should be read by everyone in the health care profession. What a great gift for our patients! I am in the nursing profession and had found myself going numb and just going through the motions at work. We were and still are short staffed at the hospital where I am employed. Which is a nationwide problem. I feel like I've gained my compassion back after attending the workshop and reading INTUITIVE HEALING. I've also learned that being compassionate and listening to my intuition actually helps with time management at work. It seems we are always racing against the clock, but bringing positive energy into each patient's room and taking the time to listen really helps the patients heal or at least feel more peaceful. Something else I learned from Dr. Orloff's book is the story of Kuan Yin, the goddess of compassion in China. Dr. Orloff states that she wears a green jade pendant of Kuan Yin for protection and to open her heart. I noticed the pendant at the workshop, but was too shy to ask what it was. I later received the answer while reading the book. I was so moved by the story of Kuan Yin that I purchased a Kuan Yin pendant also. The pendant is always resting against my heart reminding me to be compassionate with myself and others. Take the time to read this book. You won't regret it!
