Rating: Summary: The power of Intuitve Healing Review: As a physiotherapist, I am always in contact with patients and their different diseases. Each day, I have to help them. And mostly, they have a lot of physical and emotional blockades, which have to be break through. In this book, Judith Orloff gives a lot of advices for patients and even for people in the medical group. This book is a must for the complete gainfully medical group.
Rating: Summary: An excellent guide Review: Once in a great while one finds a book that dovetails with many aspects of life. This was the book. It gave substance to so many of my experiences and provided a way to structure my spiritual work. I found her comments and discussions to be well supported and rational. She encourages the reader to search for her or his answers and provides the pathway to do so. I will refer to this often!
Rating: Summary: It's time to open our minds! Review: I have had problems with bone spurs on my feet for almost twenty years. I had a flare up three weeks ago that was so excruciatingly painful, I couldn't sleep. I tried ibuprofen, soaking in ice water, Chinese acupuncture, nothing helped. I was so desperate, I was considering surgery. Then, browsing Amazon.com for something to read while I recover, I noticed DR JUDITH ORLOFF'S GUIDE TO INTUITIVE HEALING. The title piqued my interest, and I needed another purchase to get my order over $25 for free shipping. I ordered the book, followed instuctions and the swelling disappeared in 3 days. Read this book!
Rating: Summary: The Heart of the Matter Review: The Heart of the Matter
Dr. Orloff reinforces the importance of using intuition as a guide through life. She speaks from the heart and uses examples from her own practice, and illustrates with stories of her own healing journey.
Excellent for someone who has followed a strictly orthodox path, as well as for those who are more open to unconventional forms of healing. Her techniques for the layperson in tuning in to parts of the body and spirit are easy to follow. She reinforces the fact that the body knows what it needs to make it well, and we can access that knowledge and follow it's guidance back to health. Of most interest to me are the parts about becoming more in touch with our intuition, i.e. through remote viewing, and realizing aches and pains are the body's way of communicating a message.
Dr. Orloff is bridging the gap between orthodox and non-orthodox medicine and this should be borne in mind when reading that she recommends allopathic drugs for certain medical conditions, for every disease can be cured by natural means, as the universe is a divine tapestry containing all the hidden pathways to wholeness. I would personally be cautious about going to a physician for a work up, as having a name put on a disease usually ensures the patient buys into the fear of the illness, thus strengthening the momentum of the disease process. The body's expression of any disease is simply that, the symptoms we see and feel in the body are always the effect, and to solve the problem the cause has to be addressed within the psyche, emotions, or possibly from another life.
I realize my way of thinking is unconventional and most readers will probably be comforted by her mainstream reassurance of sometimes following a more conventional route. Dr. Orloff is a gentle, but firm spirit, whose many years of spiritual seeking are reflected here for all to read.
Rating: Summary: intuitively drawn to "Intuitive Healing" Review: I started reading this book recently because I was having trouble dealing with my energy, emotions, and other people's energies. As an empathetic sponge, I would unknowingly absorb any surrounding energy, positive or negative, which resulted in a lot of bodily stress.
I thought having this stress in my body was normal because I didn't understand it, nor did I question it until a perceptive friend brought it to my attention. Now, I am taking steps to correct my way of processing energy before it becomes problematic.
After applying some of the exercises and suggestions, I find that this book is very effectively teaching me how to recognize and work with my own energy. Orloff suggests, "Be observant of energy, not overly focused on it" and "If you are mindful of your body's subtle energy and become accountable for it, your health will improve." (p. 35) Meaning, I don't have to be a passive victim of stress; I have the power to change my situation, once I am aware and take responsibility (as opposed to assigning blame or making excuses). It's about being proactive for my own issues--very empowering stuff!
While some of this might sound like simple common sense, Orloff goes into great detail in explaining how thoughts, energy, and beliefs affect the body. Sure, one can gloss over the details and get right to the 5 steps, however, I think it's very important to understand the process so that the steps make sense. The 5-step method can address just about any given difficult situation one may encounter. I like how the 5 steps are repeated in a variety of contexts throughout the book, the repetition drills it into memory.
The new comfort and peace I feel with myself now was unexpected, and through this work, I am finally learning to trust my intuition. This book has been and still is an outstanding catalyst for my personal growth. Thank you for writing such a profoundly helpful book, Dr. Orloff!
Rating: Summary: You need this book! Review: Greetings Readers, I purchased this book after hearing Dr. Orloff on KPFK radio station a little while ago. I took notice of the situations in my life where I felt extremely uncomfortable while being in the presence of negative people. These people were what she refers to as "enegry vampires", as they drain your energy and when you leave their presence you feel so tired. I had referred to these types of people in that same term many years earlier before I had even heard of Dr. Orloff. But, when I heard her on the radio, it was like a floodlight moment for me!!! The verification of "so that is what I was feeling!" After reading the book I have set boundaries for many things in my life, my time, my mind and my conversations. I no longer allow others to take up my time with their "stuff", I monitor what I allow to stay in my mind, and I avoid any negative conversations. I have lost a couple of toxic people but, I needed to rid myself of them anyway. It is important for us to save ourselves by helping others to save themselves. And everyone isn't going to be saved and I'm not talking about this as in "christian saving their souls!" I am saying I discovered from this book that when we disallow others to continue to use us up for their negative purposes we are doing a great dis-service to ourselves and them as well. This planet needs to be healed and it begins with each and every one of us individually to create a collective positive energy. Get that book too! Peace and blessings to everyone who has read this review and everyone who hasn't.
Much love, Aaronya
Rating: Summary: A Guide to Intuitive Healing Review: This book is one of the best I have ever read as a true guide to health and wellness. The five steps, Judith Orloff gives can be used in almost any situation both to help you to heal and also to live a happier healthier life. In my own work these steps have become invaluable in helping others and myself.
Judith Orloff has taken the time to compile those five steps in an easy, understandable and functional way.
This is a great self help book and beyond. it is definitely a great addition to anyone's library
Rating: Summary: If you like receiving 'love letters', you'd like this book. Review: I recommend this book to those of you who, like myself, respond better to a 'gentle nudge' than 'tough love'. Healing 'Self' is a hard work and we need as much support as we can get. Dr. Orloff does that very nicely in her book. I like her writing style. Her voice encourages you page after page. It sounded to me like this... "it's okay if you don't get it the first time. Don't get discouraged. Keep practicing. Be patient and kind to yourself. It will come to you".
The book is full of eye opening concepts and important lessons. I especially liked what Dr. Orloff said about 'forgiveness'. For me, it was worth buying the book just for that one paragraph in which she talks about this subject. I've been struggling to understand what exactly it means. But now that I've learned about energy component of our health, it makes more sense why it takes more than 'thinking' forgiveness and 'acting' forgiveness. One's energy may still carry the scar from the trauma and that needs to be healed before one can 'experience' forgiveness.
Her message through out this book is that we can transcend pain only if we let love to enter our hearts...Good luck and enjoy her book! If you like receiving 'love letters', you'd like this book.
Rating: Summary: My Turn Review: I love this book (Intuitive Healing )and its concept of giving 5 steps in each chapter to help me process life's events. It validates and embraces all of me. It speaks to and guides my spirit, as I take My Turn on the journey of dealing with my father, hospice, and a non-caring cancer specialist.
My favorite quote is, "Death opens a doorway of perception...
secrets of the spirit will be revealed." (p.233) Dream work at the end of each chapter is my favorite of the 5 steps.
My favorite chapter is 7, Centering and Protection; as a clinical psychologist I have to constantly find ways to stay centered and to protect my personal power in order to minister to my clients with efficacy.
Intuitive Healing/Dr. Orloff; gave me step by step ways to call my spirit back from the "wailing well". And it has helped me find sacred space and a way to stay grounded as I complete My Turn on this challenging journey. This book is my guiding light.
Intuitive Healing and its 5 steps will be one more tool to help me and my clients recognize synchronicity and intuition at work in our everyday grind. It will be required reading for my clients.
